Off-Campus Dining: Closer to campus, there is a healthy variety. As you expand further away from campus, you'll find an even more varied list to choose from. I'm a vegetarian and there are several places in Orlando that can accommodate my diet. If you're stuck close to campus though, the majority of the variety is fast food.

Off-Campus Dining: Eating on campus is expensive and the selection is not great.

Health & Safety: Security on campus is good. The alert system keeps you informed and you always see security around campus patrolling.

Parking: I personally didn't have a car while attending, however students often complained about the lack of parking. UCF is the 2nd highest populated university in the country so that means there's far more students than parking. They have continually built parking decks to alleviate parking issues however. They also have shuttle bus to take students from surrounding housing to campus and back each day. Visitor parking was also an issue.

Academics: Curriculum Will Prepare You Well for Any Future Goals – After graduating, I've come to find that UCF's microbiology department prepared me well for all of my future goals. As a pre-medical student, the curriculum kept me on course to not only meet but exceed medical school requirements. I also liked that they had a wide array of electives which allowed me to customize my coursework towards medical science or research. The university has several research opportunities for those interested and a department designated to advise students on how to enter medical school. There's also dozens of special interest organizations like AMSA, MAPS, a couple of pre-medical student fraternities to join. Having trouble in classes or need extra help to earn your A? No problem! UCF offers Supplemental Intstruction sessions, free tutors and TAs that are there to help you master your course materials.

Guys & Girls: There's a Diverse Pool of People – There's all types of students at UCF. You'll find people from all races, different age groups and all with different interests. The school offers an array of activities to suit every interest from a wide choice of dining options, recreational activities, campus and sporting events.

Weather: It only rains during season. It didn't get cold this year for us really feel winter.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Our campus isn't strict. They give us lots of freedom, but the campus still feels safe. We are technically "dry." Which keeps our campus from having destructive parties.

Academics: My School – With UCF being so large, any class seems to be offered. There are so many choices of classes and majors. They keep it fair as to underclass man get last choice, but we all have to wait our turn. A huge plus is the amount study abroad and internship opportunities, I am only a sophomore but it seems as if all my upperclassman friends have been involved with one of the other.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: Good, for the Most Part – UCF is a good school academically, but it's extremely large and has a really odd system for general education requirements.

College Junior

Guys & Girls: Just People – The guys and the girls here are just like people you'd find anywhere else. There are some really good looking ones, some not so good looking ones, and plenty of average looking ones. Nothing out of the ordinary.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: Shuttles Are Convienent – I don't really use transportation through the school though I've heard that the shuttles are extremely convenient coming and going every five minutes from off campus housing.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Drinking Is Prefered – Drinking is more popular than drugs on and off campus. If you consider Tobacco a drug, hookah is very popular. Many students own their own hookahs. Otherwise drugs are rare unless you know someone you don't really hear about it.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: Library and Athletic Center – The library is great. If you don't know your way around, you might get lost due to size and structure but it has everything one would need. The gym is also amazing. It's huge and has pretty much everything you want including an indoor track, rock wall, courts for basketball, volleyball, dodge ball and pretty much anything else you can think of. Its open for 12 hours almost everyday of the week and let you rent out equipment including jerseys. It's extremely convenient.

4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Student's Looks – My obvservance of the student body is one of focus. The students seem to be very driven to what they want to become. It is very encouraging to see and be surrounded by many leaders.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Pros of Parking – Several of the off-campus housing have agreement with the school and a bus transportation system. Therefore, you dont have to worry about the parking and just ride the bus. There is an app that allows you to track eta of the bus.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There are a great number of restaurants lined up on University Blvd right when you leave the school.

4 College Junior

Athletics: Knight Pride – The gym is a great facility. It has state of the art equipment and plenty of machines to keep everyone busy. It is also a very convenient location.

School sports are a great source of school spirit. The bring students together and provide a break from academic work where students can enjoy themselves and support their school and friends who may be athletes.

4 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: UCF has a great atmosphere. There is everything that you could possibly need on campus. There are restaurants, book store, nail salons and anything else you can imagine. If you can't find what you need there are multiple plazas very close to the school with many things to offer.

There are additional attractions such as disney world, sea world and other things that are not too far from the school. This gives students many options for recreational activities.

Also the fact that athletics are a huge part of school spirit it provides a sense of ownership and belonging to students who support the athletic teams.

Concerts are also frequently held at the brighthouse stadium. This provides even more activities that students can do while staying close to school.

3 College Junior

Academics: Master of Social Work Prgram – The Masters of Social Work program has a great vision but it is not executed very well. There is ample help in getting an internship of one's interest but there are faults in the program. This year in the fall semester there was no advisor for us. Dr. Burg was made available to us but she was also the coordinator and professor and had plenty of things to do without having to deal with the duties of an advisor. Another negative aspect was that for the spring semester there were very few electives available. This limits the freedom MSW students have in pursuing a topic that they are interested in. I understand that there is a financial aspect to this as well but I believe that more electives should be available per semester and that they should be of a wider variety.

On the other hand the workload and curriculum itself was reasonable and lived up to its expectation. A great facility available to MSW students was the MSW lab. I thought that was a great feature of the program.

2 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Great Sometimes – Why UCF keeps asking me for the same infos but then when I bring the extra infos they tell me they already have that info. Put the infos in the system and stop putting stuffs under my holds & to do lists

5 College Sophomore

Transportation: Love It – The best thing UCF ever came out with is helping the students with transportations. Love it because I don't have to keep using my car from schools to schools.

2 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: What Strickness? I'm so darn tired of seeing these students passed out on the campus floor everythime there's some kind of sports events going on.

3 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Big School but a Bit Scary – UCF is a big school and I am still trying to find my way around that school and yes, I still get lost a lot. I'm sure what attractions are around UCF but I've seen lots of coffee shops, lots of places and students' corner to go hang out or to go eat. I'm still a bit afraid when I am going to UCF because of all the violents issues that are happening around that campus.

5 College Junior

Scholarships: I honestly have had no issues with financial aid. I have received my federal aid on time, as schedule, always. It is always deposited straight to my account. Not once in my 3 years have I ever had to visit the financial aid office to settle a dispute.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
