Transportation: It's Good. The public trans is pretty dependable. I find carpooling is an easier option. With 40,000+ students...you can find a ride.

4 College Junior

Nightlife: Good If You Know Where to Look – I've said this before, but this school is HUGE. The amount of students that attend here is staggering. Finding the action at night is just a matter of asking around, any day of the week!

3 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Better Than Average. UCF is a huge school. With a student body of 40,000 plus students, your bound to have a decent amount of attractive students on either side of the gender sign.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: No Worries About Security – It's not possible to be out of sight of an emergency call-box, for starters. Also, all of the housing buildings require an ID card and a personalized PIN to gain access to the buildings and rooms (at least in the Towers). Campus is pretty well lit at night in the most-traveled places (Memory Mall, Reflection pond, Breezeway by the Library, etc), and if you still don't feel comfortable walking around campus at night there's always the Safe Escort Patrol Services. The number to call is printed on your ID card, and they'll pick you up and drop you off anywhere on UCF campus. (Just make sure you lock your bike.)

Diversity: Astoundingly Large Student Population – For a school with 45,000 students, diversity is almost inevitable. We have representatives from all backgrounds, beliefs, and orientations. UCF has a very inclusive campus; anyone can find a niche somewhere. There is a place for every individual to fit in, be it in a club, a sport, an intramural team or just a regular class. I can't say that there isn't any discrimination (no one is perfect), but from my experience, most people don't take notice of physical diversities when they're meeting new individuals.

3 College Junior

Diversity: There are lots of different clubs for different beliefs for students

4 College Junior

Computers: There are lots of computers available at my campus.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: Feels Safe – Walking on the UCF campus I never feel unsafe. I just stick with a group of people at all times.

3 College Senior

Parking: Permit costs are slightly more than other Florida campuses. People complain about not being able to find parking but that is just because they want to park right next to their classes instead of in a half empty parking garage a little bit further away.

4 College Senior

Weather: Florida's random thunderstorms and intense heat can make walking to class not so enjoyable but the campus is fairly close together so it's not a huge problem.

3 College Senior

Athletics: School support is great for basketball and football. All of the sports do good, they just don't have as much support.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: UCF doesn't have different dorms for different classes of students. You usually get what you apply for. All of the dorms are nice and well-kept, but they are just that, dorms. Theres isn't anything special about them so I would prefer to live in an apartment.

1 College Sophomore

Parking: The parking at UCF is terrible! There isn't enough parking at for everyone. I know we have a ton of students but I think the ratio of students to spots is 10:1!

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Greek life at UCF isn't that big, but it is getting there. You don't have to be in a fraternity or sorority but it definitely does help your status. You get to meet so many new people and get so many connections just by being in a fraternity or a sorority.

3 College Senior

Scholarships: UCF offers a lot of scholarships to different ethnicitys. However, one problem I have seen is their communication regarding these scholarships. The students are often unaware of forms needed, etc. that need to be processed in order for them to be able to receive these scholarships.

4 College Senior

Diversity: Very Diverse Campus – I'm in the Social Work program at UCF so I feel I interact with and am more aware of the diversity of the campus than most people are. UCF prides itself in having a diverse population of students and offers several clubs and on campus organizations devoted to furthering this goal.

5 College Senior

Weather: Warm and Sunny – I love the Florida weather: almost always warm and sunny. I know a lot of people don't like the heat, but I love the weather in Central Florida. It doesn't get very cold; it's hot all summer and warm much of the Winter. Unlike most people, the weather is one of my favorite parts about this town.

3 College Senior

Local Atmosphere: Orlando has a good amount of attractions and has a fun downtown. The suburbs of Orlando are my favorite part though; Winter Park, located just several miles outside of the city of Orlando, is a small, classy town. That is my favorite place to go for studying and relaxing. However, though there are good cities around Orlando, I feel like the University of Central Florida is located outside of these cities. It's not all that far away--it is about a 30-40 minute drive to downtown Orlando or to Winter Park, but not many college students make that drive. Also, I think the main reason why I know about and go to these smaller towns is because I have grown up in Central Florida and know the good places to go, but for the students who moved to central Florida with the sole purpose of going to UCF don't leave that area of town very much because they don't know what else is around. UCF is located in a decent place, but I just feel like there is nothing spectacular around it.

3 College Junior

Parking: The parking at UCF is not as bad as its cracked up to be. People are just stubborn and want a spot on the first or second floor of the garage right next to their class. You may have to park in a further garage on the third floor but there are always spots just not where you might want them to be.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: UCF is quite the upcoming place to be. Extremely glad that I made the choice to go here. Granted the athletic teams aren't top notch talent in the country the atmosphere at the events definitely is. I feel as though I am in the number one up and coming school in the country. Little by little we are on our way to the top, great place to be!

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: So Many Options – There are many many options within 5-10 miles of campus. Waterford Lakes probably has 5 sit down restraunts itself. Lots of fast food but also healthier things like Panera, Greens and Grille, and Subway. You definitely will not go hungery.

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: A Lot to Do Here – Orlando is a quite a large area and there is a lot to do around here. Of course there are things like Disney and Universal and Seaworld with in 40 minutes of campus, but those aren't really things afforable for college students. There are A LOT of clubs and smaller amusement parks. Also a lot of outdoor activites

3 College Sophomore

Parking: Unless you have class very early in the morning, it takes about 15-20 minutes to find a parking spot. If you live in the dorms, it's a bit easier because there is designated parking but otherwise you have to schedule time to find a parking spot. When there are only 20 something thousand parking spots and 58,000 students, you are going to run into some problems

4 College Freshman

Campus Dining: Plenty of places to eat, and plenty of options. Service is good. There's a few places to avoid, IE the Chinese food.

Health & Safety: Campus Security – Security is so focused on giving tickets they miss the real issues. A few cars got keyed, mine in included, and the security was no where around and couldn't offer any real help.
Complete lack of patrols / Cameras.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
