5 College Sophomore

Athletics: UCF provides the students with a great athletic experience as many students attend the games. Not only are the teams themselves top notch, but the turnout of the fans is enough reason to attend.

1 College Senior

Computers: Seriously. As great of a school UCF is, there need to be portable printers. If you have to print something, then there is only one place that you can do so, and that is at the Student Union or somewhere close by. The wireless connection there is AWFUL BEYOND WORDS. Students are supposed to have an exclusive connection for their personal computers, but good luck. If you can't connect to the student network, then good luck connecting to the Guest Network, because that doesn't even work half the time!

4 College Senior

Academics: The degree program of my major is very exclusive, meaning that everything within my major takes place in the designated Communications building, along with all of the other Communications majors. There are 2 advisors for all of the open-access majors like mine, but many of the professors there are more than willing to help, so you may not even have to wait to see an advisor. I have had some professors, maybe like 2 or 3, that don't really care or don't have a very structured class, but that just means you have to push yourself extra hard!

3 College Senior

Health & Safety: We have had some break-ins involving weapons both on and around campus in the year that I have been at University of Central Florida. But with the amount of cops that I see patrolling the campus everyday, I feel relatively safe.

3 College Senior

Nightlife: I am from about 40 minutes from the Alabama line in a little town up in the Panhandle of Florida. I grew up listening to Classic Rock and Country music, and there is maybe ONE bar for people with my taste of music to go to. The bars that are closest to the school only play rap and techno. There certainly needs to be more of a variety here!

5 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Great People – The students on campus are both intelligent and honest

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Wonderful Food – The surrounding area has some of the best food in town. Both cheap and classy

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Campus Is Beautiful – I really enjoy being on campus anytime I can. The entire campus is scenic and there is no place in the school that is unattractive

4 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: Wide Array and Price Ranges Available – There are a multitude of possible places to live in the immediate UCF area. Some places are brand new and "green" and demand a premium to live in, mostly because everything is brand new. Then there are other places that are more reasonable to live in and the accommodations are really good. Expect to pay between $550-$650/month in rent for the average places, and $650-$700 for the brand new places.

5 College Senior

Facilities: All of the facilities are modern looking buildings and the campus is constantly being expanded. Student center is great, and the gym is incredible. Easily one of the largest, most well equipped single gym building on any college campus.

4 College Senior

Drug Safety: Drinking Is More Popular Than Drug Use – The drug scene is not that big, but I guess that depends on who you surround yourself with. Going out and drinking go hand in hand around here though. It is much more prevalent.

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: My Home Away from Home – UCF was the best decision I have made! I could not imagine living and growing as a person anywhere else but here! There is such a cultural mix, so many opportunities to higher my education and my career, and plenty of entertainment in the fun city of Orlando! I would do it all over again!

5 College Junior

Academics: Hospitaltiy and Event Management – For my particular major listed above I would give an A ++ if I could. I have been more than satified thus far. UCF has a seperate campus for its' hospitality students. The Rosen College of Hospitality is near Universal and has connections with many major Tourism and Hospitality companies including: Disney, Universal, Sea World, Ritz Carlton, Peabody, ect. The professors all know a countless number of important people and connections that they are more than willing to get you in contact with! My particular program requires you to have three internships or co-ops and the advisors are a tremendous help with finding the right internship for you! The workload is moderate: not too much but still takes time and dedicaiton. Orlando is a huge tourist hot spot so it is the perfect college for hospitality majors!

3 College Junior

Athletics: Still Growing – The only reason why I wouldn't give UCF an A is because we are still a young and new school. Our football team has grown TREMENDOUSLY since my freshman year. It's not quite to the fan suppport or spirit that FSU or UF has though. However, we have exceptional athletic facilites that make up for it. Our club sports and IM sports are very well organized and have a huge turn out! Also we just had an addition to our gym so now it can accomidate a lot more people and we have our very own rock climbing wall and lap pool: not a lot of schools can say that!

4 College Junior

Academics: Multiple Options – The University of Central Flordia has over 200 degrees for students to choose from! The advisors and professors worked very closely with me anytime I had a question or concern. Not only that but there are many academic resources easily accesible to all students: Math labs, Writing labs, Printing labs, ect.

3 College Senior

Weather: Hot, Humid, Rain – Well, it is Florida so its bound to be warm year round. The rain can get annoying if you want to go out and about (to class soaking wet!), and the humidity can get to be choking-ly hot in the Summers. I personally like the weather here since I do not like the cold though. Besides that, the campus experience is fine if you don't mind sweating once in a while to class.

4 College Senior

Computers: Great Printing Labs – It is always great to have wireless internet on campus but my only complaint is that there isn't any wireless in the dorms... but besides that it's great. There are desktops in the library students can use, and plenty of outlets all over campus to plug in the laptops. Free printing labs in the student union are another bonus!

4 College Senior

Facilities: Remodeling Goes a Long Way – In the time that I have been a UCF knight, there have been many projects on campus to help improve student life. The library was remodeled and is a wonderful space to study with plenty of outlets for laptops, study cubicals, improved technology, and plenty of space to study. The student union is always a great resource for students to not only meet and eat, but to get scantrons, print in the lab, and study. UCF has also implemented solar panels to use solar energy.

4 College Senior

Athletics: UCF spirit is great on campus! Everyone gets involved in spirit events, sporting events, concerts, and clubs. We all love Knightro, our mascott, and cheer for our knights. The only draw back is sometimes UCF fans can be obnoxious at sporting events which is in bad taste.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: We have our own police squad on campus and programs that address campus health as well as free health appointments at the clinic.

5 College Junior

Transportation: Knight lynx takes students for free to malls and other places. There is also an online community that helps you set up car pools. Affiliated housing offers a shuttle to campus every 10 minutes.

4 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: Apartments are very expensive in Orlando.. my roommates and I decided to go with renting a beautiful 4 bedroom 3.5 bathroom home... It turned out to be less that the apartments we were looking at...

3 College Senior

Greek Life: I don't know much about them... they don't seem to consume every corner of campus... but they do advertise special events from time to time.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: Love It – I love this university. The art program is stellar, and the professors are great.. they will all work with you on any problems you may have. I am so glad I chose this university.

3 College Junior

Health & Safety: I have never had a problem with safety on campus.. however.. I would like a few more faculty roaming about during the late hours. It's scary leaving school so late and alone sometimes :/

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
