4 College Sophomore

Weather: We are the lightning strike capital of the world! After noon thunderstorms are a regular. Chance of hurricanes during the right season, and not to far from the beach on a hot summer day.

3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Its Ok – For mindless immature students there are plenty of places, events, and excuses to get belligerently drunk and act like fools. For those not trying to prematurely progress their alcoholism there are a few options.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: The Cafeteria – Is always a quick stop for a snack or a meal. The food is what you expect from a cafeteria. Vending machines provide good in between class snacks for relatively cheap.

1 College Senior

Parking: There's never any parking unless you go early in the morning, if you have a class that starts after 10 am, don't bother trying to find a parking space. UCF has built some new parking garages and parking areas so the parking problem may be alleviated a bit; however, there are so many students and only so much parking.

4 College Senior

Facilities: The gym was recently remodeled so now it's bigger and was always in good shape before. The Student Union is great as well, filled with restaurants and even places to get scantrons, etc. Overall the campus is pretty well kept, lots of greenery and open spaces.

3 College Senior

Health & Safety: Lack of Security Presence – During the day, I never feel unsafe at UCF; however, it's normal to see little to no security or police around campus. The only time I feel unsafe to walk around campus is at night because there are less people and there have been petty thefts and muggings before.

5 College Sophomore

Facilities: UCF's recreation and wellness center is so amazing! There are plenty of machines and a great variety that target specific muscle areas. There is so much to do, such as the rock climbing wall, swimming/lap pools, basketball, etc.

Campus Dining: For students who aren't picky eaters or have specific needs for their diet, it's fine. For me, it's terrible. My religion is Hindu, meaning I can't eat beef or pork. On certain days of the week, I cant eat meat at all. When signing up for the meal plan, the assured me that there are options to suit my needs. First semester, their only vegetarian options were salad and a veggie burger. They told me every dish is offered without meat as well. That rarely was the case.
Overall, the meal plan could be better.

2 College Freshman

Facilities: The library is always short of providing resources to its students, mainly computers and seats. The university requires much of the courses to have online homework. Yet there is never enough computers to meet student demands. For a university that has 60,000 students, the should provide more resources.

3 College Freshman

Academics: They offer a decent amount of classes for most of the majors offered, but not all. Some students have to drive to another college far away just to attend one class for their major.

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Smooth Money – UCF offers plenty of scholarships and grants to pay for your school. Not to mention the Fafsa and financial aid process associated with UCF is smooth. I have never heard anyone getting forms lost in the finaid office.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: From Decent to Outrageous – I personally havent lived off campus yet but from what I have heard the places are good. The places right near campus are very nice but also pricey. The places that are like a 5-7 minute bike ride away are not the nicest looking on the outside but are definitely cheap for the area.

5 College Sophomore

Facilities: From the free printing lab to the library, UCF has the best facilities I have seen. The library has five huge floors loaded with computers for studying. The student union is open 24/5 so studying after hours is always an option. By far the best facility is the gym. The gym is double the average gym with more than enough treadmills, weightlifting racks, and basketball courts to satisfy the large campus's needs. Not to mention there is free kayaking and rock wall climbing on campus.

Off-Campus Housing: Many Places but Expensive – There are many off-campus housing locations, and new ones being built, but they aren't cheap. I wouldn't say this is a dangerous area overall, but there are times when I haven't felt safe in this area.

4 College Student

Campus Housing: Lake Claire Is Perfect! The dorms at Lake Claire are some of the best college dorms i've ever seen. They are quite fit for a learning environment. They have the benefit of having separate rooms for each occupant and 2 bathrooms for each room! Wonderful!!!

3 College Student

Facilities: Theatre Is Wonderful! Although the space itself might be a little out of touch, the technology in the theatre is state of the art! It serves wonderfully for the fantastic mainstage's that take place there 4 times a year!

5 College Freshman

Transportation: Great for Anything – Always shuttles running from campus to all of the off campus apartments during class hours. and from 8 pm to 2am there is a free bus from on campus to a lot of the clubs and apartments.

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: There but Not Dominant – There are large fraternities and sororities on campus, but the school in no way revolves around them like it does at other older schools.

4 College Freshman

Campus Dining: Good Variety, as Well as Constant Favorites – Knightros is a clean calm place to grab a meal with different options at a few stations everyday, and always having pizza and a panini station set up.

College Senior

Majors: I have not yet had an internship, but will this coming summer. Through my major I have had an extreme amount of help in preparing my resume and cover letter, and contacting affiliated organizations. I have high expectations for my upcoming internship and hope to be satisfied with the outcome.

4 College Senior

Weather: The local weather is usually beautiful as the campus is located in the heart of Florida; however, during hurricane season an excessive amount of rain can completely hinder a student's day and their ability to even make it to class.

4 College Senior

Athletics: The athletics at UCF are a strong focal point of the university. Student involvement and school spirit is high, especially during the football and basketball seasons. Students can be seen sporting the school's colors and mascot throughout their daily wardrobe and support the teams whenever possible. The athletic facilities are mainly new and provide both the teams and fans the atmosphere they prefer and deserve.

5 College Sophomore

Facilities: The facilities of UCF are very much up to date. They have the latest technologies in the gym, in the libraries. It is a beautiful campus with excellent amenities.

2 College Junior

Transportation: While there is definitely transportation available via buses and they come at all times, if you're driving parking sucks. The decals are expensive and you need to come early or late for good parking. Anything in between is ridiculous, you have to follow people to their parking spots to make sure that you have one.

3 College Junior

Greek Life: Greek life at UCF isn't as prominent as it is at other schools, such as UF. It does not dominate the campus, but it is gaining in it's member numbers. It all depends on who you meet, some are stereotypical frat/sorority people, while some can be wonderful people who are also in a frat or sorority. There's a diverse availability depending on what you want and like.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
