Facilities: Fun Experience – My school has over 400 volunteer clubs and one of their main focuses is to get students involved! They have their own clinics, dentistry, counseling program, and much more to help students be safe both physically and emotionally. At least once a month, students all get together for what is called Late Knights; it provides a different atmosphere with a movie, free food, games etc. It is awsome!

Campus Strictness: Very Good Atmosphere – The administration is strict on the safety and health of students, but it is a good strict. The health clinic provides different procedures that can be done for free and also cleanings when needed. A major issue that they are strict about are drinking and drugs on campus, which can lead to legal issues. They want everyone on campus to have the best experience at their college.. GO Knights!

Health & Safety: Completely Safe – With a late-night shuttle system on campus, free transportation to and from communities around campus, and its own police station on the grounds, UCF fosters a mindset of safety and well being. Although there have been incidents in the surrounding area, they are always handled quickly and efficiently, and the campus safety alert system promptly notifies all students of any potentially dangerous situations. Personally, I have no problems or concerns walking around on campus even at night.

4 College Junior

Nightlife: Fun for Everyone – Whether you want to check out a game, dance the night away, or just share a cocktail with a few friends, UCF has a very active and varied nightlife. A few clubs just across the street from campus offer easy access and plenty of good times. Pubs and grills all along University Blvd are also a great place to hang out with the guys. There's also a great variety of clubs, awesome restaurants, and hidden gems in Downtown Orlando, just 15 minutes away. If you're looking for bright lights, big city action, and swanky venues, just head down I4 to Orlando's main attractions, Downtown Disney and International Drive, where you'll find well established, high traffic hang-outs.

Transportation: I have my own car for transportation, but it is possible to do without. Many apartment complexes offer a bus to campus and there is also a Lynx bus service around.

Campus Dining: Dining Halls/ Meal Plans – I had a meal plan for 6 weeks at the dining hall one summer. I thought it was awful. This was 4 years ago now and perhaps this has changed. It bothered me that they NEVER had white meat chicken. All meats wear very fatty and the same meals were repeated over and over. You could tell they were trying hard when they knew parents would be there for orientation. Then the meals were very good- with chicken parmigian (white meat) but only then. The grill station was nice with burgers and pizza, etc. But then again that is not a healthy option.

Weather: Rain and Temperature – The rain can be very annoying during the summer. Parking garages were not stratigically placed close enough to all buildings. Also, the hot temperature and no breeze can be unbearable at times.

3 Recent Alumnus

Drug Safety: House Concerts – I have noticed a lot of students take part in "rolling" the ectasy drug usage at the UCF arena house DJ concerts. I have never done it myself, but it is to my understanding it can be dangerous to ones health.

3 College Junior

Facilities: Could Be Better – UCF has an awesome gym for the students but the athletic facilities should be better seeing the size of the University.( better stadium etc.)

4 College Junior

Nightlife: Always Something to Do – UCF's nightlife is great. Always something to do. Even though the plaza is shutting down the bars will relocate. Being greek also helps as there will always be an option to do something.

4 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Something for Everyone. It's Orlando! There are lots of clubs and bars. Some 21+ but there are a lot of 18+ ones too. With this size of the student body and the amount living off campus, there are a lot of house parties too. Really it comes down to what you want to do, and who you want to do it with.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: Very Good Engineering Program. There are a lot of job opportunities in Orlando, especially for the science fields where internships are important. Having connections to the school makes it easier for the students.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Drinking Is More Popular – Drinking is more popular, but it is a big school so there is a crowd for anyone. You will probably find a few that are into more hardcore drugs, but smoking marijuana is the most commonly used drug. Like anywhere drinking outweighs drugs by a good amount.

College Sophomore

Majors: Moderate Difficulty – I applied later than usual and with the schools selectiveness I was worried about getting accepted. Fortunately I was, and am still anticipating the difficulty of the courses and the program itself.

College Sophomore

Majors: Looks Promising. I have not attended the program yet, but it seemed like a top level program from the reviews of others and tours. The Engineering buildings look top notch and the amount of clubs and extra curricular activities really add to the program.

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Such Fun – Orlando has so many attractions, from Sea World, Disney, Islands of Adventure, Universal to Downtown for Magic Games or for shopping at the Florida Mall, everything is less than 20 minutes away. You can even reach a lake or beach without more of a 40 minute drive! There are other schools close by that you can hang out with like Rollins and Valencia!

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Safe Keepings – I feel safe walking around campus, going to events and getting to class. Campus is pretty big though and can get overwhelming sometimes, but its really just a big circle and is easy to spot those emergency blue buttons if you ever need help from an officer!

4 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Integrity Is Vital – The biggest policy is academic integrity. Self-plagiarize, plagiarize, copy, or cheat otherwise and you may be kicked. The policy really is for the better. You cannot cheat off of someone else when it comes to work in the real world.

4 College Freshman

Computers: Reliable, Recent, Ready – There is an ample quantity of modern computers to use in the labs, printing may be free from the SGA programs, network reliability is strong, speed is nice. Wireless access is acceptable. You definitely need your own computer for everything outside of the class and may want a personal printer for late night printing of assignments as needed.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Looks to Be Great! I can't wait to start off my college career at UCF as a prospective EE!

4 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Friendly Community – Students and faculty are eager to help you succeed.

5 College Freshman

Transportation: Public transportation is really good around UCF. They have buses running all the time, and if you need a bus to pick you up late at night, then there's a number you can call, and they'll come get you whenever you need them.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: Hard but Worth It – I am still going through the financial aid process to ensure that i receive adequate aid. You should start as soon as you can to receive the best aid. Make sure to talk to a financial aid advisor.

3 College Freshman

Parking: Parking is pretty good and there are always spots on the top floors of the parking garage so if you don't mind the walk you're in good shape.

2 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Severe Punishments – The police are pretty strict about underage drinking and drug use. Offenders may be in danger of losing their housing. It's pretty serious if you get caught, so my best advice is to do everything discreetly and not to be obnoxious about it.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
