Scholarships: UCF offers numerous amounts of scholarships and grants to students. However, international students have the disadvantage even if there grades are high to apply for most of these scholarships or grants. Most of the types of aids have citizenship requirements or a requirement that the applicant has to be at least a permanent resident of the states. Most of the scholarships and grants are from an external source so merit-based scholarships (regardless of student type) don't exist. However, alot of students (unless international) have the numerous choices of different financial aid programs that they can apply for. The financial aid office have their own website with tons of detailed information regarding steps and procedures for qualifying for different types of aid. There website is so detailed, that students who are NOT applying to UCF, can even use it as a source of information.

Health & Safety: As an new student at UCF, i should say i am very pleased with security measures the university provides for its students. Campus security/police are definitely visible. During freshmen orientation, students are provided with emergency contact numbers. Also UCF provides students with the option to call security during late hours in case they are on-campus, so that security can escort a student to their car (if they don't feel safe to walk alone). At the Rosen college (which is part of UCF), students cannot access their dorms without their student ID. Furthermore, UCF also sends alerts notifying all students of criminal activities taking place and/or missing persons reports. They also send courteous reminders on how to be safe on a continuous basis. Surveillance cameras are also present at a lot of places and offices. In my opinion, UCF is definitely doing their best to providing safety and security on campus.

Campus Housing: Nike/Hercules is really nice, while the others seem to be a bit older.

4 College Student

Off-Campus Dining: Variety for All – The Orlando area is packed with dining opportunities, accommodating every possible culture or taste.

4 College Student

Computers: Nicely Organized – The computers in the library are up-to-date and actually work!

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: It Is Safe – There is security around campus all the time and they send out updates if there is anything going on even in town around campus. I always feel safe around UCF.

Local Atmosphere: There is so much to do in Central Florida. There are crowded, touristy areas and quiet, relaxed areas as well. You could head over to the theme parks and get to Disney or Universal within an hour. You could also head over to the beach in about the same time. The area around the main campus has a little of everything from shopping to restaurants.

2 College Sophomore

Facilities: Lack of Sports Support – For such a big university the students are slow to show up at games.

1 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: What's Your Fix? The school is littered with drugs; pot, ecstasy, alcohol, mushrooms, and cigarettes.

5 College Sophomore

Diversity: Where You from? Wide amount of diversity with people from all different backgrounds and places.

4 College Junior

Scholarships: The financial aid process is very straight forward. You only have to fill out your FASFA and the financial aid department takes care of the rest.

3 College Junior

Computers: UCF has plenty of computer labs and several free printing labs for students. The WiFi connection is slow and unreliable at times and there are not enough computers in the library since it becomes very crowded.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: Pretty Happy – I do receive a good amount of aid from the school, but I really would like to receive Federal Work study, but am unsure of how to do so. As far as my paperwork goes, things are have gone smoothly, but my friend was not so lucky. Sometimes you have to remind them about what you have already sent in.

5 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: If Punishments Exist, They Aren't Public – I have never been in a situation like this so I don't really have any first hand knowledge and I never hear about anything like that.

3 College Freshman

Computers: I Spend My Life Waiting in Lines – The computer labs at University of Central Florida are often crowded at peak times but mostly you can get in and out within thirty minutes. The WiFi is shaky in some places and it is impossible to pick up in others. The Printing quota recently changed, but I think it is overall a pretty good system.

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Love the Energy – I like UCF because it's diverse in its student body and has a wide selection of activities from sports to social events..its a fun environment to learn and very resourceful and united, everyone is helpful and supportive to cheer each other on, and college life is not just a learning experience but a memorable one. It's also spirited college where everyone can take a role in joining the college's activity and share their input to make it a better place to come.

Athletics: Spirited Student Body – The University of Central Florida is extremely developed in its student involvement, school spirit, and athletics. Their trademark colors gold and black represent the knights and all students who are enrolled or prospective are influenced by the college's pride in its reputable football team. The college has much diversity welcoming students from all walks of life to learn and support each other in the spirit of true teamwork, and most students enjoy a collaborative effort to improve the college many resources and take advantage of all thats offered. The college is also known to host many events to encourage participation and hundreds of clubs and organization to help educate its alumni and provide a fun learning experience through variety and enjoyable activities. Also there's a great workout facilities for free, to allow students with a busy schedule to stay active and healthy. The university sponsors many productions of its annual plays directed from its theater majors and film department to ensure a creative and recreational time for its students.

3 College Sophomore

Parking: Not enough for every student driver and faculty member.

4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Very laid back and intelligent people. Never see any drama or violence happening between them.

1 College Junior

Scholarships: My financial aid office needs to hire new people that are willing to go above and beyond for the students. I always feel like they send me on my way without giving me a heads up about important things.

5 College Junior

Majors: Early Childhood Education – I love my major. I love my classes. All the teachers are so sweet and helpful. UCF helps produce more teachers in Central Florida then any other state college!

2 College Junior

Greek Life: Greek's, Ehh.. Greek life isn't too prominent at UCF. There is greek street where all the houses are but it by no means, dominates the school.

1 College Junior

Guys & Girls: MTV Shows – The girls tend to be more "laguna beach" and the guys are more "Jersey Shore".

4 College Junior

Drug Safety: Doesn't Seem to Be an Issue – It's rare that we hear about drug problems on campus. Smoking cigarettes is a big issue but UCF will be a smoke free campus as of Fall 2012. Drinking is the popular past time for parties.

4 College Junior

Academics: Lots of Choices and People to Help Make Them! At UCF, they encourage you to make the choices that will best achieve your dreams and there are lots of people there to help you come to the most sound decisions. They are always doing their best to make positive changes to the campus and the curriculum.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
