Majors: Science Education for Biology – I'm in the college of education for science education-biology. A lot of the education classes, in my opinion, are easy and kind of common sense. I feel like you learn a lot of the same stuff in each different education class. The teachers for the education classes are normally pretty great, because they were all teachers at some other point in their life (they are not just college professors). Everyone says you learn the most when you do your internship. Since I am studying for science education- biology, I have to take a lot of science classes too. The science professors tend to not be the best teachers. They normally don't teach, they just read from a powerpoint. They are more concerned with their research than they are with their students understanding and passing the class. Sometimes you have to teach yourself the material. Also, they forget that the students don't know as much as them; they forget that we haven't been studying the topic for our whole lives.

Weather: Nice in the Fall and Spring – It's nice in Orlando in the fall and spring. The weather will be sunny with cool breezes, which is nice when walking around campus. In the winter it can get cold. It's never gets unbearably cold, maybe down in the 30s at night. It's hot in the summer. There is no breeze because Orlando is not right next to the ocean. Also, it rains, but not any more or less than it does in any other part of Florida.

Majors: I do enjoy the classes that nursing requries thus far but getting into the program really stresses me out; I know once I am in nursing school, doing what I love, I will enjoy it so much more!

4 College Sophomore

Majors: I have not had an internship but I believe they're a good way to really step out into your major and get a feel for it to see if you enjoy that type of work or not. I have not run up on the opportunity to do one for nursing but I would definitely like to before it is time to apply for school! UCF is a big school with lots of connections, they make it simple for the stuents to get an internship!

Majors: Early Childhood Education – Palm Bay Campus - Great program and wonderful teachers. Nancy Brasel in particular who has gone WAY above and beyond her call of duty.

3 College Junior

Health & Safety: Above Average Safety Patrol. The University of Central Florida has an overall above average security setup. Personally, I have never felt uneasy walking through campus during any time of the day.

5 College Freshman

Majors: We have every major possible. Whatever your into we have it. I searched high and low for a school that had forensic science as a major and UCF was one of the VERY few.

5 College Freshman

Weather: AMAZING!! It is quite hot in the begining of first semester, but in the upcoming months its very cool and comfortable.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: It helps that its always warm weather so, some of them walk around without shirts. However alot of them skateboard, longboard, wakeboard and thats a turn off for me at least.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: Its been pretty great so far. As long as you go for what you want it is perfect.

5 College Junior

Facilities: Our Campus Is 2Nd Largest in the Nation! We are a large campus there are tons of coffee shops and food places on campus. Our resources for help or clubs are always available and the traditions are pretty awesome. its a lot of fun just exploring the campus and cant forget the night life outside of it. It's Orlando there is always something going one.

4 College Junior

Academics: As a junior most of my class are psychology related. If you are interesting in your major you will love most of your classes. It is a heavy load of work but it can easily be balanced. Internships and job offers can be found by going and speaking to career cervices they help a lot. Anything you want from this campus you can get as long as you us the resources.

3 College Junior

Academics: Large Class and Hard Courses. So far the classes I have gone to are three times the size of my previous college. Three out of Four seem reasonable.but my largest class of four hundred seems very difficult but I am up for the challenge. It is harder now to get help for the actual instructors because of how many students there are but there are at least one TA for each class. Some have up to 4. They are extremely helpful.

3 College Junior

Campus Strictness: Open Minded – This school is not the strictest. For the most part if there is no trouble starting they let each student do their own things or clubs. They respect students as adults

1 College Junior

Weather: It's always muggy here. Even when it's not raining and the sun is beating down on you. The humidity makes it kind of like breathing in the ocean, in a bad way. I would say it's like being baked alive, but it's more like being steamed.

4 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: It's Orlando – The campus is located in Orlando, therefore you are minutes away from many of the local attractions. The campus is surrounded by restaurants, bars, and local hangout spots. Nightlife in Orlando is great, specially in the downtown area. There's usually always something to do.

3 College Junior

Diversity: Diverse Enough – The school has a great deal of diversity considering its location. It's not the most diverse college in the state, but overall its students come from a vast array of socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds.

4 College Freshman

Majors: As an bio-med major, I will be shadowing doctors, which kind of acts as an internship in a sense. I will be unpaid, but the time commitment can be just as rigorous as a regular paid intern. My responsibilities include doing whatever it is that needs to be done.

Campus Housing: Towers Are Great – Most campus dorms at UCF are normal college dorms, somewhat small but definitely the college experience. If you can afford the rent, opt for the towers, these are great dorms, with large apartments. Probably one of the best dorms in the country.

3 College Senior

Campus Strictness: Have to Follow the Rules – Campus has several must follow rules. Dont smoke on campus, park only in assigned garages and lots, and zero alcohol on campus. SGA is very helpful on almost any problem. You can appeal any citation if you have proof it was unjust.

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: So Many Choices – There are so many places to choose to eat, as you leave campus there is an Applebess, Steak n Shake, Panera bread, Chic fil a, and my favorite Jersey Mikes. They actually have a student special which is your drink with chips for .01 added to your sub. They are all reasonably priced because they know that students can go almost anywhere else to go eat, plus you can literally walk from one place to another.

2 College Sophomore

Academics: Difficulty Scheduling Classes – The largest drawback I would say with being in my major is having a shortage of teachers for upper level classes. For example there is one teacher who in charge of A and P, which makes it difficult when many students need that class. It fills up quite quickly and then you have to wait another year to register. Plus if he does not teach the way you learn you are stuck with an issue. Other than that there are a few requirements for the honors programs which is not for my major, I am required to take an interdisciplinary class about music appreciation when I am studying to become a doctor.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Towers Are the Place to Be – The dorms at UCF offer a wide variety of opportunites, from a hall style dorm, apartment style, or suite style. The four Towers communities are the nicest, with private bedrooms, double beds, and laundry on each floor. The cost is relatively good- depending on which dorm you choose, you'll pay for what you get.

5 College Sophomore

Computers: Computer Labs – The computers at UCF are easy to use, especially if you're in the honors program. Furthermore, SGA allows a certain amount of black and white prints free daily, so it's unlikely you'd ever have to pay to print your work, unless you need it in color. For Honors, there are two labs which allow unlimited black/white and color printing.

3 College Sophomore

Parking: Parking at UCF is relatively good. There are many lots and places to park, although finding one right next to your class may be difficult unless you leave early. A parking permit is average in cost and allows parking at the majority of lots on campus. However, parking is very strict and tickets are handed out frequently, so make sure you're parked where you're supposed to!

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
