Greek Life: Take It or Leave It – I'm not into the Greek life myself, but they seem to do pretty well here without interfering with the lives of non-Greek students. They're enthusiastic without being obnoxious... usually. Their parties have a bit of that stereotypical raging reputation, but honestly, there are quite a few as huge non-Greek parties too.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: It Could Be Worse – I think drinking is a lot more common. It's not really discouraged at all around here. Drugs are definitely out there; they're accessible, they're used, but to be honest, there are just other things you can do than do drugs. I've never been bored enough that I felt like I needed to DO something to have fun at UCF.

3 College Senior

Campus Strictness: Strict but Lenient Somewhat – Just like any other campus, they are strict but lenient

4 College Senior

Scholarships: The process to obtain financial aid was very easy. You simply need to register with FAFSA and UCF will then pull that information to determine how much financial aid you qualify for. You can check the progress online, which makes the whole process even easier and accept or decline any awards there, as well!

Academics: Overall They Succeed in Helping Students – For the most part, the professors are very helpful and strive for excellence. I have experienced a couple that did not share the common goal of making sure each student knew what was expected of them to achieve excellence. These professors were both taken for online classes, so therefore I definately recommend taking classes on campus or at a regional campus.

5 College Junior

Facilities: Campus is amazing! Huge library and student union. Both are open 24 hours a day when its finals time.

5 College Junior

Academics: There are so many different types of degrees offered at the school. There is a counselor out there that can help you with any problems that you may have. Campus is modern with lots to do, its easy to navigate. There are also a ton of perks with being a students, like free concerts, games, tickets etc.

Guys & Girls: Students in General – In general people are very friendly and helpful. There are a ton of students on campus and all there for the same goal, which helps the situation a lot.

5 Recent Alumnus

Facilities: Rec and Wellness Center – This center is state of the art and they are constantly adding new things. There is a rock climbing wall, an Olympic sized pool, basketball/volleyball courts, racquetball courts, all the equipment you would need and many services.

4 College Sophomore

Computers: Early Bird Gets the Worm – Computer labs are set up all around campus and rarely being used. If you go at an earlier time computers in the library are open as well and have great network speed and can all access printers nearby. Also if you have a wireless device there is wifi set up around campus with plenty of work stations in the library top floor.

5 College Junior

Majors: Love the Instructors – I am a social work work major at the College of Health and Public Affairs at UCF. I have really enjoyed all of my Social Work classes so far and my instuctor (my professors as well as my advisors) have all been so great! They are so passionate about what they do and they want you to graduatewith that same passion. They made my transition from a small state college to a university so simple. Go Knights!

4 College Junior

Transportation: UCF has great transportation. There are buses that take you all around Orlando and there schedules run very well for class times!

3 College Sophomore

Academics: Depends Depends Depends – As a part of the Burnett Honors College at UCF I am able to register for classes earlier than everyone else, which I didn't think was such a big deal until I started hearing my friend's stressful complaints about it.

The professors depend on your program; UCF is strong in science and engineering and a little weak in the humanities so the professors reflect that. As you get into upper level classes, the professors seem to have stronger accents (especially in math, phsyics, chemistry, etc.)

5 College Sophomore

Majors: Very Flexible – I had a hard time choosing a major. I got to the point where I just wished I could pick a bunch of classes and make a degree out of it and now I'm kind of doing a more structured version of that. I'm an Interdisciplinary Studies major in Physical and Life Sciences with a minor in Cognitive Sciences.

As an interdisciplinary studies major you are required to take a cornerstone and capstone course (6 credits), pick two subject areas (15 credits each), and an interdisciplinary minor (credits depend on the minor; mine is 21 credits). The only catch is the two subject areas and the minor can't overlap.

If you count the credits for the major that's a 57 credit minimum, and if I take at least 12 credits a semester for all four years, that's 96 credits; meaning I have 39 credits of whatever classes I want.

It's probably the best major ever, but also the most stressful because you're making it up as you go.

Transportation: Parking Is Horrible – I commute to school, and parking passes are around $100 for the year, but you have to leave early enough depending on the day in order to get a parking spot. Garage B is usually a nightmare to find parking because people are going to class AND the recreation and wellness center. I don't know about the public transportation. I know there's the knight lynx, which is free because part of your tuition pays for it. On campus you'll see a lot of skateboards, longboards, and bikes for people to travel between class; personally I just walk.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: One of Everything – Walking around campus you see all shades of people, and the people you do see don't even make up a large fraction of the population; I guess it's kind of like cheating since there's so many students there. You can't necessarily see religion unless people are outspoken with their wardrobe, but there's probably a club for each one; if there isn't all you need is a sponsor and eleven of your friends.

3 Recent Alumnus

Parking: Depends on the Time of Day – They recently added a new parking garage but the garages that are closest to the classrooms get filled pretty quickly each day.

4 Recent Alumnus

Facilities: State of the Art Gym – the gym is fairly new and updated, there is no shortage of activities to engage there.

5 Recent Alumnus

Facilities: Always Something to Do – This campus has just about everything to offer. Great gym, huge library, beautiful courtyards, and plenty of events every week.

4 Recent Alumnus

Diversity: Waling on campus every day I see a range of almost every ethnicity. I belive there is a fair balance.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: Some of Everyone, but Not Enough – The student body, while moderately diverse, is still mostly Caucasian. You can find anyone with your racial or ethnic affiliation with enough searching though

3 College Sophomore

Computers: Tons of Labs – There are a ton of computer labs at UCF, which means that you can always find a computer here. Plus we even have our own computer tech and product store with great hospitality and our own tech squad

4 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: UCF is very health conscious, in fact, we're actually officially a smoke free campus now. Of course there are parties and drinking and such but UCF does not promote such activities or condone it on campus

5 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: There are a ton of dining options by the school. All different types of food too so you do not have to settle on the same thing all the time. The price ranges do vary but there is something for everyone's budget. There is dine in, take out and drive thrus!

4 College Senior

Weather: The weather is great here in florida. For me personally though sometimes it gets way to hot! Other than that the weather is great. Sunny days and cool winters but not freezing! Enjoyable all year round for most part.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
