Off-Campus Housing: The safety at UCF off-campus housing is not very good. People get raped/robbed all the time. The availability is always there because UCF is constantly building new apartment complexes. If you want something nice its going to cost you $600+ basically you get what you pay for. Landlords usually leave students alone but expect their houses not to be ruined. The school is always having fairs for housing so they make it super easy

4 College Junior

Campus Strictness: The policies at UCF are strict but fair.

5 College Junior

Majors: Living in one of the largest cities/going to one of the largest school opportunities can be hard to find but they are plentiful! I am a criminal justice major so there are a lot of agencys, law offices and government facilities to inter/find a job with right here in the city. I love the criminal justice program because most of my professors are current cops or lawyers so they help us keep up-to-date on laws plus story time in class always!

Majors: I have never had an internship - only actual job positions. I work for Disney as a security guard.

3 College Junior

Drug Safety: For UCF the alcohol consumption is average for a college town. When it comes to XTC one would think it is too excessive sometimes especially with the growing EDM scene. It is noticeable that many students smoke weed. There is a huge Norml group at UCF.

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: I would say it is average to what you would expect college town housing to be like. The social atmosphere is plentiful as well as the perks of having a huge state of the art gym and other perks! Dorms can be nice if you pay for the most up-to-date ones. Off campus apartments are dirty because no one cares to clean-up.

2 College Junior

Transportation: You have to have a car if you go to UCF otherwise you will get no where. The shuttle from off-campus UCF housing is great for getting back and forth to the university however if you wanted to do anything else you would most certainly need a car.

Local Atmosphere: I live in Orlando, FL one of the worlds top tourist attraction cities. The city is never boring - there is always something to do and best at that there is always something to do for everyone. The shopping is great, we have 3-5 outlets and malls that have the most premium goods. Of course everyone always thinks of DISNEY but there is also Universal and the beaches not too far away. The local attitude is somewhat average as much as one can expect from being in a tourist town. UCF students are friendly people so if you stay near the college its a very bright atmosphere.

3 College Junior

Athletics: UCF is an up and coming school. We had a good run this year in football but we shall see next year. Mostly, people go to football games to drink and they leave when the game starts.

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: All the Greeks I've met ate awesome. They've given me many opportunities to perform at their classier functions.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: You'll occasionally see people hitting the bong late at night. Most people where I lived smoked cigarettes. But joint smoking happens either late at night or in parking lots. Cops are minimal.

4 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: I haven't felt like the administration is breathing down my neck. Just don't be stupid. Ya know, don't do drugs and stuff.

College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: I have never lived off-campus so I am of no help here. Friends who do live off campus like it, though.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: There's a page with a listing a scholarship. The downside is that many of them are very major-specific

2 College Freshman

Computers: WIFI SUCKS. But, you know. They get the job done. You'll be fine if you don't leave things till the last minute

4 College Freshman

Majors: You play a couple of scales and the 2 songs you've prepared. The professor makes you less nervous and it's a really chill environment. Like any audition, work your butt off and make sure you're prepared.

College Freshman

Majors: I still have to audition to get into the Jazz Program at UCF.

But I plan on becoming a profession jazz sax player. Of course, the music business is not easy, so I'm concerned about getting a job after I graduate. But hopefully, I would've made enough connections to ensure I'm not floundering

3 College Freshman

Transportation: The only options if you don't have your own car are to take the shuttle or regular bus. Everybody always complains about the shuttle

3 College Freshman

Diversity: I haven't run into as many Hispanics/blacks/Asians as I thought I would.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: Bortles. Storm Johnson. Jacksonville Jaguars. That is all.

Nightlife: I am not really into the nightlife scene as far as off campus goes. On campus, however, the Late Knight events are always fun, there's free food, and you get a chance to get a free t-shirt, which is always cool. The different organizations put on cool night activities, like movie or game nights, and that is a great way to meet new people and have fun at the same time.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Last year I lived in Tower one where the ex-student attempted to have a shoot-out. Because the police responded extremely quick the guy decided not to continue and sadly shoot himself instead. Although a life was still lost the police saved hundreds of others.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There are so many options down University road and they are building more! Wawa and Racetrack just opened and they are opening a new burger place too.

5 College Sophomore

Weather: Its Florida, therefore there's almost always wonderful weather! The winters are cool and quite pleasant, while the summers are hot and sunny! The only bad thing about the weather is it can get extremely hot in the hot and humid in the summer.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
