3 College Junior

Greek Life: most greeks keep to themselves and are known to be pretty snobby, though some are nice.

4 College Senior

Local Atmosphere: Lots to Do – Beaches are nearby. Walt Disney and Universal studios.

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Many School Activities – There are a countless amount of school-funded free activities. Such as movie nights, concert nights, comedy nights, and much much more. Outside of campus there are some clubs lots of shopping malls and great food locations. A little further out there are tons of fun theme parks that will give you UCF discounts.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: Florida Is Just Low Quality – My family is from Pittsburgh, and looking at the majors in a northern state with more developed education in comparison UCF majors are lacking

College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: What a Joke – How can you even consider this as being important? this is a joke. the very idea that you have these types of questions. You go to school to get skills to survive, not have sex with men and woman, this is a terrible question.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I've come to realize now that upper level education can be a scandal.
I'm a non traditional 33 year old student. I worked as a journeyman welder, and mill write in power plants as family tradition dictated. I wasn't allowed to go to school when I was out of high school. All my life I had dreamed of having an education so now after working for 10 years in the trades, I am paying for my education out of pocket. While taking care of my widowed mother. I find it disgusting that UCF lets such non sense carry on at their campus. Such as the marijuana organization NORML rather then putting more emphasize on hard work. It disgust me to see how many 20 year old children there are wasting their parents money and possibly the states with trying to " change the world" When I was in my early 20's I worked 6/10's a week with grown men and I was expected to produce from my labor in harsh industrial conditions often times putting my health and safety at risk. Therefore, I find UCF to be less serious then what they dictate they are.
Its a shame, because there are so many good instructors there that care about students who want to learn.

Off-Campus Housing: Student Housing Complexes on Alafaya Are a Little Sketchy – The student housing across the street from UCF does not have the best reputation. There are however several different apartment complexes close to the campus that are safe and nice areas to live in.

5 Recent Alumnus

Diversity: Very Diverse – I would say that UCF is a very diversity University. There are several different cultures and races seen amongst the student body. There are even clubs that UCF offers for people of certain religions and cultures to come together .

Parking: Parking can be some what of a pain at UCF. However, UCF does have their own shuttle service. If you are living near the campus in Orlando, the shuttle stops at several different apartment complexes on Alafaya Trail to pick students up and drop them off in front of their building. Be sure to look over the schedule before riding.
If you are not living near campus, take your classes a little bit earlier. Noon classes are a little difficult to find parking, but it you have a 9 or 10 O'clock class, it is not bad.

Overall Experience: UCF is a great place for anyone to receive a college education. They have so much to offer at their school. All UCF campuses are located in nice areas. They are very cleaned with updated technology so that their students are able to receive the best education possible.
Their is also countless clubs and programs to be a part of, great professors and faculty, and numerous benefits for students. Student benefits consist of: discounts on theme park and attraction tickets, free printing in the printing labs, and tons of free events. Their sports events are always fun to go to. Especially around homecoming when they throw several free events and give a ways! I would not want to receive my education anywhere else.

3 College Junior

Academics: No Complaints – My experience at UCF so far has been great. There are many people there to help. Professors are great, workload is fine, and there are many options when it comes to studying.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: Lots of Options! There are a great amount of off-campus housing options. Expensive, cheap, far, close, old, new, etc. Prices vary.

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: ...if you accept the fact that you have specific responsibilities and "to-dos" that, if ignored, can land you in hot water. My advice is to be mature and proactive in making sure you complete the appropriate materials and receive the financial support you need.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: Clinical Psychology Ph.D. Student – The professors and clinical faculty are very helpful and have each students individual interests in mind. Faculty are open to pragmatic suggestions, and with few exceptions, treat the doctoral students as colleagues rather than subordinates. In the past, we were shackled with quite a bit of "busy work;" however, recent changes have limited significantly the amount of credit hours necessary to complete the M.S. and Ph.D. There are a variety of diverse practicum placements in and around Orlando which afford clinical students the opportunity to work in a number of settings and with a myriad of clients/patients.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: Plenty of Opportunities--Tenacity Is Key – I completed my undergraduate degree in psychology at UCF and was subsequently accepted into the UCF clinical psychology Ph.D. program. In general, the faculty are very supportive and do everything in their power to advocate on behalf of their students. There are quite a few undergraduate psychology students at UCF (~4000) so educating yourself on the realities of the post-undergraduate opportunities that will be available to you is essential. If you aspire to continue studying psychology at the graduate level, tenacity and a willingness to become engaged in projects (e.g., as a research assistant) apart from your general course work may ultimately determine whether you are able to pursue a career in psychology.

4 College Freshman

Campus Dining: Decent Food – The places to eat in the student union are great, with all different types of chains there. However, if you haver a meal plan, you sometimes get tired of the same food being there over and over. They have a lot of the same food everyday, but it still tastes good which is the positive. There are some days though where there are excellent options for the students. Its a buffet style, and if you have an unlimited meal plan, its awesome. You definately get your money worth. The best place to eat in my opinion is the MarketPlace. Also, its not always that crowded which is a positive.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: A Ton of Options – Around the campus, there are a ton of choices to choose from for food. There are so many varities and something for everyone, with all the main chains of the country being right there. As for cost, it will range from very cheap to very expensive, depending on where you want to go. But, its just tremendous how many places there are to eat right outside of the university.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: Humidity and Sun – Florida isn't called the sunshine state for nothing! Although the humidity can get really overbearing, the sun is definitely your biggest ally and enemy. During summer it is great for pool days and beach days but it also tends to rain a lot during summer, especially in the afternoons. Super sunny one second, pouring the next. During winter, it can get really cold during the night and early morning, but during the day the temperature can reach mid 70s so no heavy jackets! I would say the seasons are just winter and summer because there is practically no transition phase in my opinion.

3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Fun, but Not for All – I do not like to go to clubs and so for me it is tough to find fun things to do at night. Most college students go to house parties or clubs and so there are plenty of businesses that provide that kind of fun near campus. Aside from that my options are going to the movies, browsing the mall, or hanging out at a friends house. I wish there was more options for people who don't live the stereotypical college lifestyle.

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Best Variety! Food is extremely important to me because I love eat! Around the UCF campus there are so many options for you to eat something you're craving. Plenty of mexican food, asian cuisine, pizza from various companies, ice cream, and chain restaurants like Chili's and Applebees.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: Varsity sports are a huge turnout, and a wildly fun experience with friends. There is an amazing athletic facility free for all students which includes a gym, tracks, softball/football/soccer/hockey/basketball fields/courts and many more, as well as multiple pools and a rock climbing wall.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Housing on Campus Is Decent, but Not Great – The housing on campus is a wonderful experience, aside from a few problems. The central loction of housing makes for an fun, social environment where you can meet many people, but the overall quality of the actual buildings are meager.

2 College Sophomore

Scholarships: The Process Is Lacking in Many Areas – The universtiy of central florida claims to care deeply about it's students, but the amount of financial aid they offer is far from showing that. After a year on campus, I found countless students unable to afford meal plans, having to go days without a decent meal. Many friends of mine have had to drop out due to rising tution costs with no rise in their financial aid. The service the university provides is very disorganized, they are much more interested in creating a lengthy and difficult process to recieve aid instead of effectively helping those who need it.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: It Is Decent – The food on campus is decent, but it's the same thing over and over in the dining halls. In the Student Union, there are many fast food options however which are great!

3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: The Best Grade You Can Recieve – Nightlife at UCF is not as good as it could be, but many people still go out and have fun. If you're underage, there really isn't much you can do. However, as long as you go out with the right people it can be really fun.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
