Off-Campus Housing: Upkept and Well Maintained – On campus housing is wonderful no option is a bad choice compared to other campuses. Off campus financially choosing what is most fitting there are any options and different variations of living available.

3 College Junior

Scholarships: Very Time Consuming – When I transfer to the University of Central Florida my financial aid paperwork got lost therefore making the process very long and tiring. At the end eberything worked out. My advice is to know due dates before hand and call your financial aid advisor.

Local Atmosphere: Orlando Is the Best! The entertainment in Orlando is endless. From the plenty of bars and nightclubs to themeparks and nature activities. There is something for everyone!

5 College Junior

Facilities: Gym Is Incredible – The Wellness Center at UCF is amazing, they provide the students with so many resources to help them improve their body and mind. They also provide help for students with disabilities with is great, that way all students can experience the same opportunity.

5 College Senior

Drug Safety: I have never seen anyone use drugs on campus. No one has ever offered me drugs on campus. Drinking occurs on campus, but I have never seen it become a problem on campus.

2 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: Unsafe Student Housing. I lived on Knight Circle for four months and there was a total of three break-ins. They do not provide enough security for residents, specially because the location of the University of Central Florida is very unsafe

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Drinking and Hookah Are Very Popular – After a night at the clubs that are nearby students are often drunk and can participate in doing hookah often.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Guys Are Really Cute! NO matter your type you're sure to find plenty of them at UCF!

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Plenty of Choices – In the area around UCF and Waterford, there are plenty of options for off-campus housing. The prices are reasonable and the options vary widely. The only downside of the off-campus houses is being in the UCF area. It is very busy and Alafaya can be a hard road to travel at certain times of day.

3 College Sophomore

Parking: Parking can either be good or absolutely horrible. People always complain about how bad parking is at UCF, and although they can be right at times, they are also looking at the wrong places, at the wrong time. Students usually schedule their classes between 12-4 so parking on campus is just going to be ridiculous, but if you get to campus about 30 minutes to an hour before your class, you will be fine. It gives you enough time to find a parking spot. If you are willing to walk the distance to your class, you can park by the intramural fields over by the dorm Hercules. There are always open spots over there. Other than that you'll just need to be a little lucky when exploring for a parking spot.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: Athletics at UCF are a big part of campus life for students, faculty, and the players. Students definitely show their spirit mostly at football and basketball games, and now that our softball and baseball teams are rising, students have been showing more spirit in that as well. Every football and almost every basketball game the student section is packed and filled with excited and commited students. Although our basketball and football teams aren't known too well, they have the potential to be very good. Two years ago, the Knights ended the 10-11 football season in the top 25 ranking. The Knights basketball team reached number 17 in the top 25 last year and this year they made a NIT berth.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: I am sort of confused on what courses we need to take for certain majors. And what the job you're looking for inquires.

3 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Orlando is most known for Disney World and Universial Studios, so there are a lot of tourists. And not to mention the traffic that comes with that.

5 College Junior

Campus Dining: UCF has everything. Two different dining halls with a lot of variety. Three subways,a chick fil a, a sushi bar, pizza, everything.

3 College Junior

Nightlife: Go Downtown If You Want a Good Experience – Most of the bars close to the school are really sleezy. You definitely need to be careful when going anywhere near UCF. If you want to go to nice bars, go downtown. It's a drive and a little bit more expensive, but definitely worth it.

5 College Junior

Facilities: Everything Is Amazing – The gym at UCF is amazing. It is eco friendly and LED certified. They are constantly adding new equipment for the students. The leisure pool looks like something from a resort. It is huge and a great place to go lay out and relax. There are two dining halls, three subways, a few sit down restaurants, and a sushi bar on campus. There is a nail salon, a hair salon, and two pharmacies. UCF has everything.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: Sports Are Fun – I love going to sporting events. They are fun to watch and have a great time with friends. The athletes love the games they play and are very well trained.

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: It's a magnificent school, I'm glad I'm attending.

3 College Junior

Athletics: Need a Bigger Stadium – All of our athletic department's are awesome, except for our football stadium. It reminds me of a Tuna can.

5 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Not Too Many Drugs – Drugs aren't really a huge thing at our school. The school has great programs against drugs.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: It's All About the Game Some Days – Sports are HUGE here. It's such a big deal that traffic has to be diverted by our police to ensure safety and order. In particular, whether it's football or basket ball, expect huge crowds, parties, tail gaiting, side events, specials, you name it. We even have a VIP room called The Black and Gold just for higher paying attendees or special guests to use for the events, etc. that has it's own open bar and plasma screens everywhere to watch the games. We have even another gym just for the atheletes and training fields and a local catering company for their events so attendees can get food from. We have our own Brighthouse Stadium for football and a baseball field, soccer field, olympic pool, and training fields, track and field, etc., etc. Almost no sport goes unnamed here. We even have a rowing club and lakes for cannoes and places for the volleyball team to practice. We even have a dance team too and water polo.

Local Atmosphere: Nice Area and Parks, but for More Excitement, You'll Have to Drive Pretty Far – Shopping is pretty nice in the area. Lots of well known brand stores and in downtown Oviedo some boutiques and art alleys. Two good theatres nearby, a plethora of restaurants, several parks nearby, like Blanchard Trail, or Oviedo Sports Complex, Rippin' Riverside Skate park, and a laser tag arena called Hard Knocks. For more interesting shops or events or attractions, you'd have to drive further out to downtown Orlando or Winter Park for nightclubs or bars and music cafes like Austin's Cafe, which serves organic and vegan food as well as having local jazz artists play, etc. Back Booth Bar holds nightly events like '80's music dance club night or nerd-fest musical performances from local rock bands and techno, electronic, and ambient music players and more. Down in Kissimee and International Drive we have all the major attractions Florida is famous for, from Disney to Sea World, Wet 'n Wild, Universal, Islands of Adventure, Ripley's Believe it or Not, Wonder Works and more. There and even in downtown Orlando and Winter Park are plenty of Museums, big and small, and a drive or so away from UCF you can reach the nearsest beach, Cocoa beach. So whether it be a nice day at the park or mall, or you want a real adventure at a theme park or some night life fun, all are within reach. Just depends on how far out you're willing to drive. Note, students can buy most theme park tickets or concert tickets at a discount in our student union box office.

Campus Strictness: Punishments Are Expected for the Deed Done and Severe, Though Some Get Away – Police on campus are like hawks when it comes to parking or campus events. No one dares to cross them without expecting severe consequences. Expect your car to be towed if you park at a 24-hour reserved parking zone anyday, especially if you do it repeatedly in one week like an old high school classmate of mine did there. They are privy and aware there are under age drinkers around, so if you get caught by the Resident Advisor of your dorm or the police, be ready for a serious punishment, even if it is a first offense. As for campus events, no horseplay or suspicious looking activity, as these officers don't play around when enforcing the peace and order in the area. Yet, mind you, some get away here with doing things if they are really sly, so watch out if you walk by yourself at night. Not a safe thing to do, for there have been carjackings randomly at apartment complexes and garages on campus and off campus as well as sex-offenders assaulting female students on rare random occasions, even once next to the police station and no one helped the victim.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
