Weather: Very Hot – It is very hot here and I have to carry many art supplies too and from my studio classes. I am more afraid that the heat will affect the paints or melt the clay in some way since it is so hot.

5 College Freshman

Majors: Best Decision of My Life! I am very happy with this program and I want to become a successful Graphic Designer for either a large corporation or in my own business. I only worry that I might not find the right environment that I like to work in immediately. I never considered becoming a Graphic Designer until a mentor of mine sent me to a local business to see what it would be like and I loved it right away. They eventually hired me on as an assistant and I learned more then I could ever imagine.

Weather: Since UCF is in the middle of Florida, it is extremely hot most of the year. That being said, the only real weather you need to worry about is thunderstorms which are quite frequent during the summer and early fall months. I always keep a smallumbrella with me, it comes in handy all the time.

Academics: Very Diverse – UCF offers many different majors and classes. While the registration process can be difficult at times, the workload and study options make up for it. Of course there are difficult classes with a lot of work, but most classes aren't too bad. Teachers are always willing to help students whether in class or during office hours.

Academics: Extremely Helpful – In the College of Education at UCF, the professors, tea hers, and advisors are extremely helpful. Starting your freshman year, you begin to have some experience with children of different age groups through observations. Once you get into upper level courses, beginning as early as your sophomore year, you can begin actually working with children in the classrooms. Come your junior you do almost all classes off campus in local schools, an your senior year, you work at a school in the area prior to graduation.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: Very Diverse and Representative – There are lots of people from all different races, ethnicities, religions, and political parties on campus, almost all of the time. Everyone is able to speak their own minds without too much backlash from other groups, which I like.

Off-Campus Housing: Wide Variety of Choices – The off-campus housing selection ranges from new apartments built with-in the past year, which can be pricer, to older apartments, which save students money. Most students have pools and allow you to roommate match, which is a great feature. Another great pro about off-campus housing is most complexes have UCF shuttle, which saves students the hassle of parking and saves money for gas. However, a con with off-campus housing is a majority of student complexes have caps on utilites, which can add to an additional charge at the end of the month for overages.

Academics: Caring Teachers – Academics offered at UCF are terrific. The school has a wide variety of majors, minors, and certificates that can be obtained while working with caring professors, who actually want to see their students succeed. Though, some class sizes can be a bit large, teaching assistants are there to aid the professor.

Weather: Though the weather in spring is nice and cool, with bright blue skies, the summer weather is a gamble. The summer brings humid heat that follows with an afternoon monsoon, just to be followed by more heat. The winter can be hit or miss, some days can call for a cup full of hot chocolate, whereas others you would be perfectly fine wearing shorts and flip-flops.

Off-Campus Dining: Melting Pot Variety – Around the UCF area students are given a wide variety of off-campus dining options. Most restaurants are within walking distance, and there are an assortment of options. From fast food restaurants with value menus, such as McDonalds and Burger King, to dine-in chain restuarants such as Apple Bee's and Ruby Tuesdays, it is not hard to find a place to eat. Most restaurants also have student discounts as well as daily happy hours and lunch specials to help students on a budget. As my parents always told me, "if you can't find something then you're not hungry" and that is the truth when it comes to choosing a restaurant around the UCF area.

Athletics: Getting Better – Sports aren't as huge a deal at UCF as at some other schools, however they have been universally improving at a steady rate over the past few years.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: Many Options – There are a lot of options available near UCF. These range from university affiliated housing, to apartments, or house rentals. Prices aren't too bad if you hunt around a bit, especially if you have co-lessees.

4 College Sophomore

Computers: There are plenty of computer labs and computers in the library to use. They also have it available to use the local wi-fi on your own computer. You also can check out a laptop at the library.

Scholarships: Pretty Good – First time recieving financial aid and the process was actually quite simple. I was able to get enough money to pay for school. I was delayed money for a short period because I had holds and was not aware that those would need to be taken care of before I was able to recieve my money. Other then that, it was a smooth process.

4 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Not Visible – I have not noticed a drug problem at UCF. I'm sure drinking is popular, there are many college bars in the area. I do not live on campus (about 40 minutes away).

4 College Sophomore

Academics: Psychology has become popular over the last couple years, therefore there is more compition.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: It's Okay. UCF offers variety of classes, but they fill up quickly. By the time I can register for classes, the classes are already full. Therefore, I have to take summer and fall 2012 classes online.

3 College Junior

Computers: the computer labs in the new buildings are great. for example, the classroom building has a very nice lab. I wish it were open during the summer terms though because now people must walk farther to use computers.

Guys & Girls: Everything You Want, Like or Desire – Whatever your taste is when it comes to men or women, UCF offers it. Due to Ucf's tremendous ethnic diversity, there's nothing you won't like. Ucf is full of spanish, american, asian, african american, even european men and women. There is no one set typical student look, interest or dress, therefore giving everyone a unique yet admirable aspect to pick from. You have no worries of not finding someone you will like.

Off-Campus Dining: Amazing Dining Options, Nothing You Won't Find – Off- campus dining options at the University of Central Florida can not get any better! When directly leaving Ucf, no matter if you turn left, right or go straight, you will find an enormous variety of great tasting places, very close by. Dining options range from your everyday fast food restaurants, such as McDonalds or Wendys, to your more upscale restaurants, like Azteca or The Tilted Kilt. If one day you feel like eating Spanish food, go to Azteca. They're huge, delicious and fulfilling plates will perfectly compliment they're great prices. If one day you feel like eating simple american food, go to Panera. A you pick two from their menu is both affordable and healthy. Being that all these places are so close to campus, many of them such as Jimmy Johns and Huey Magoos offer great student discounts. There is nothing you won't find around the UCF area, I greatly recommend you check them all out.

Campus Dining: Great Variety, If You Are Smart About It – To many, the food and dining options at University of Central Florida might seem repetitive, but in reality, there are a lot of small hot spots that many of the students tend to overlook, leading them to such an impression. In the main dining area in the middle of the Student Union, students are given the choices of Sbarro pizza, Burger King, a salad bar, a wraps bar and Asian Chao. Not only is the service great in all these places, but there is variety within each of them. As you can see, the food choices vary from fast food, to healthy food to hot food. Outside the student union, UCF has a Chick-Fil-a, a gyros place, a pita pit, a smoothie king, a small convenience store where you can find small snacks, drinks and sushi, a 24hour subway (which is both very convenient and healthy :) ) a restaurant called Wackadoos and a q'doba. Unfortunatley, most of these places are a bit pricey, but if you'd like to enjoy your food without causing any harm to your wallet, you can always bring a drink from home, to avoid those 2-3 extra dollars or you can bring a small snack so instead of buying a whole meal, for example a slice of pizza with 2 bread sticks you can only buy the slice, or instead of having 2 sides at Asian Chao you can only buy one. Also, if you don't constantly eat at the same places, and actually switch your meal options daily, you won't get tired of eating the same thing, thus not finding the menus repetitive. The only thing missing that would give the University of Central Florida an A+ in food would be a hot foods place. At least one locale that offers soups, rice, beans, plantains etc. would be perfect! Other than that, there's not much you can ask for, it's all great!

Transportation: Shuttles Aren't Bad, but Not the Best. I lived off-campus my first year so I depended on the shuttle service to get to and from campus all the time. Bad thing though: I lived in a complex that was one of 3 stops. That meant that rather than the assured 15-minute wait, one had to wait around 30 minutes for the shuttle to pick one up and get to campus. One gets used to it, but they stop running at 10 pm so it's not too early if activities end early.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: Being Hispanic, I thought there was not going to be a big diversity on campus. Boy was I wrong. I have met people from all over the world and from different cultures. Being among the biggest schools in the nation helps a lot.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: Many Options – There is a free bus shuttle that goes around campus and to the off-campus student housing. Another company, Lynx, goes all over Orlando and has a stop on campus, however you do have to pay to use it. Mostly everything you need is within walking/biking distance though. If you want to leave campus whenever you want and go to the beach or explore Orlando then bring a car. Many people commute to campus and there are many parking garages to use. There is also an airport about 30 minutes from campus. Transportation all depends on where you live and what you want to do, but there are many options available.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Active and Amazing – I have really enjoyed my time so far at UCF. There is always something to do and there are numerous ways to get involved, whether it be the Campus Activities Board, Knights of the Round Table, 150+ clubs, or the intramural sports, just to name a few. Being the second largest college in the country, there are always new people to meet and become friends with. Central Florida has given me the chance to explore and experience new things.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
