Local Atmosphere: Orlando has plenty to offer. You can go to various amusement parks such as Disney or Universal Studios. Also there is International Drive and City Walk. There are spring around Orlando that you can go to for swimming or camping. Also Orlando is about 30-45 minutes from Cocoa and Daytona Beach

Parking: This is my first semester at UCF and so far my experience with parking has been okay. Other than the price of the decal, which is ridiculously expensive, the experience has been fine. I always get to class early, and I have been able to find a parking spot every time without having to circle the lot/garage.

Local Atmosphere: City Within a City – There are so many things going on around school that you don't have to travel far to get to a good restaurant, bookstore, coffee shop, or entertainment. Everything is within walking distance from the campus that it is like its own city within the city.

Guys & Girls: Very Diverse – This is a huge campus. There are people from all over the country going to school here. Therefore, there is a mix of guys and girls!! You will be sure to find someone that you can become friends with here.

3 College Senior

Campus Dining: Its Okay – I would say it gets boring because you will eat the same thing over and over

1 College Senior

Parking: you will never get a parking space and you have to pay 100 dollars a year to get horrible parking life

4 College Senior

Nightlife: Out of Control – All the clubs close to UCF are for 18 and older which makes it hard to party because they are so out of control

5 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Everywhere you go their are beautiful people. Even the old people are beautiful no matter what anyone says.

5 College Junior

Weather: The sun is always beaming here in Florida, but at night is when everyone comes out from there dorms to fill the nice, cool, wind.

Off-Campus Dining: University is a street and within this street is everything. We have high class restaurants like Houlihan's, Chipotle to quick fast food restaurants like McDonalds and Steak and Shake. Affordability is their middle name. And the distance of these restaurants is with a ten mile radius.

Academics: Incredibly Smart Professors, Not the Greatest Teachers – I was in awe of the amount of research conducted by UCF staff. They are extremely skilled in their fields and have lot's of knowledge to give, however I had several professors who weren't skilled at teaching. Majority of the professors were fantastic, knew the material, knew the technology, and were professional. I wouldn't let a few bad apples scare anyone away from UCF, but just be prepared.

4 Recent Alumnus

Off-Campus Dining: Lots of Variety – There are tons of different options for meals around campus. Del taco is a great cheap, 24 hour option. Chipotle and Pita Pit are two of my favorite casual dining options. If you enjoy ethnic foods, Azteca de Oro has excellent Mexican food, and a decent happy hour, and Anmol Indian Cuisine is right across the street and has the best local Indian food.

Off-Campus Dining: So Many Fantastic Options! Even though UCF has a lot of great food options on campus, there are also many fantastic off campus options that are not hard to get to. UCF offers Knightlynx, which is a free bus service to UCF students that goes off campus on Friday and Saturday nights so that students without a vehicle can go eat off campus and do any shopping, which is a service I think every student should take advantage of.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Don't Mess Around Here! UCF is extremely hard on those who are breaking campus policy, and I love that. Whether it is cheating, underage drinking, or drug use, UCF has a zero-tolerance policy towards these actions, which help keep the campus more in line. This helps for students to feel safe, just as I feel.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Feel Safer Here Than in High School – Since UCF is so large, I was concerned about getting lost in the crowds and feeling unsafe, but boy, was I wrong. The campus police here are extremely friendly, and UCF has many programs that help its students feel completely safe at all times, such as night transportation services across campus, emergency alert locations, a school wide emergency announcement program, and much more.

4 College Junior

Majors: Intense in a Good Way – the program is taken in a specific sequence over 9 semesters. It requires 34 weeks of full-time clinical training. During the training students work under direct supervision of a lisenced physical therapist. This may seem like alot because it is. Its alot of fun and very challenging at the same time

Majors: To get into the physical therapy program is a long process. The prerequisites overall must be at a 3.0, and completed prior to applying for the program. The doctoral program is a full-time program requiring completion of 112 credit hours beyond the bachelor's degree.

Majors: Physical Therapy Is Great – Ive taken all of the prerequisites for the physical therapy program and what I found out is that all of the classes have a certain level of difficulty. It just comes with the terrritory. I learned through going to school that your mindset affects everything, so I tackled each class with a positive mind. My career goal is to start my own physical therapy practice. I dont really have any concerns because I feel that if I do everything that im supposed to do ( get good grades in class) then everything is going to fall in place.

Drug Safety: Off-Campus Participation – Drug and alcohol use among the student population at UCF is fairly common. However, both mainly take place off-campus at local or downtown clubs. During both my summer semester and thus far into my fall semester, I met a somewhat high number of students that partake in recreational drug use of some kind; but generally do so off-campus.

There are noticeable groups of people and individuals, however, who choose not to participate in any kind of drugs use and are able to do so and maintain a social life without being affected by a great deal of pressure. It is, by my observation this semester and last and the observations of upperclassmen that I have met, equally as common to find people who abstain from drug use as it is to find those who occasionally or frequently do not.

3 College Junior

Scholarships: They Are Average – The financial aid process is pretty easy. Scholarships and aid keep getting cut down though.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: Pretty Well Lit and Safe – The campus is well lit, there are security people with golf carts that drive around at night and will bring you to your car in the parking garage safely. There are also buttons all around campus for emergencies that call the police.

3 College Junior

Parking: Parking is probably the most complicated thing at UCF. The campus is huge and finding a spot is no easy task. People constantly follow you if you're walking in the garage in hopes of taking your spot when you leave. The whole ordeal is stressful. If have to get to the school fairly early, before 9, if you want to find a spot easily.

4 College Junior

Academics: Great Professors – Some of the brightest mind are teaching at ucf. which makes it such a great place to study and learn.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Student Union – Very good variety in the student union. Ranging from your usual burgers to Chinese and of course pizza. The pricing is affordable and the atmosphere is great. One of the best places to hangout on campus

3 College Junior

Drug Safety: Drugs scene at University of Central Florida is not very apparent. Although it hard to put a number to drug consumption at UCF, it exists; but not as big as alcohol use.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
