5 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: Theme Parks, Exciting Down Town, and Beach Fun! There are various kinds of fun to be had as a student at UCF. The beach is about 45 min. away and can be easily reached. There are 3 major and many other minor theme parks right in your city. There is a very large and exciting downtown Orlando scene that is ever new. No matter what kind of fun you are looking for, it is here!

5 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Yummy Yummy – There is a huge variety of off campus dining and it will cover all your food desires. There are high end classy steakhouses, all the way down to the best hole-in- the wall joints!

3 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Modern Crew – Most of the students at the University of Central Florida have a modern vibe that is reflected in their dress, the music they like, the events they are interested in, and the overall feel on campus.

5 College Junior

Drug Safety: I Haven't Come Across Any – I haven't come across any drugs or peer pressure about drugs. So I give the school an A+ on it.

3 College Junior

Weather: It's Nice on a Nice Day – Campus is nice when the weather is clear, but there aren't many overhangs for when it rains.

1 College Junior

Parking: Nowhere to Park – Parking on campus is terrible. There is no place to park, and this semester there is one less parking lot. I know that UCF can't help the amount of cars and students so that is why I'm not giving it an F.

2 College Senior

Academics: Tough to Register for Classes – There are so many students that go to UCF that it often hard to enroll in classes. If you wait until the last minute you will most likely not be able to enroll into the class because it will become filled up. The type of professor you get is dependent on your major. For example, a philosophy professor is gonna be much more interesting and understanding than would a chemistry or engineering professor. There are plenty of places like All Knight Study and the Student Union that are open to students 24 hours to study. The workload is about the same for any state university dependent on your major.

3 College Senior

Guys & Girls: Students Are Into Greek Life – The majority of students that go to UCF become a part of "Greek Life". This is both a good an bad thing because you can meet a lot of people if you decide to join a sorority or fraternity, but if you don't, it might be harder to meet people on campus. The students at UCF are also into partying. There are a lot of bars and clubs around the school. The types of guys and girls you find around UCF are pretty diverse in their personalities.

4 College Senior

Health & Safety: There are always police and security on campus, as a matter of fact, there is a police station on campus which adds to the security. The police officers are friendly and cooperative.

4 College Senior

Health & Safety: If You're Danger Free, Then You Will Live Danger Free – As long as you don't involve yourself into bad situations, you will most likely stay clear from any break-ins or problems. On campus there are free cab services 24/7 if you feel unsafe walking alone, these drivers are also trained professional for self-defense. There are many police cars stationed around the outer radius of UCF also. Obviously everyone should keep precautions, such as locking your door.

2 College Senior

Weather: The Rain Is Heavy When It Does – The campus is very large, and when it rains which is about 80% of the time it makes it very difficult to walk, to make it on time to class, and a lot chance for students to become sick. Creating an epidemic. I tend to always wish it does not rain, but it's Florida.

4 College Junior

Campus Dining: Many Options – You will never get tired of eating on campus because there are just so many places to eat. Most are of good quality as well.

4 College Junior

Campus Housing: Mostly New and Nice – Most of the campus housing is relatively new and actually quite nice. Only a couple of the dorms are older and not quite as nice.

5 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: I honestly could not picture a better array of off campus places to visit, eat, have fun, etc. Every store, restaurant, and club you could imagine are within 15 minutes of the campus and most offer discounts for students, too.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: Political Science – The professors and advisers in my field have been nothing but helpful and they truly care. They know me individually and take time to know my life and help me as best as they can.

5 College Sophomore

Diversity: Lots of People. There is someone from everywhere on this campus. With the giant population and the international students, there are people from every background, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation and political beliefs.

1 College Sophomore

Parking: No Space. There are 50-60,000 at this university and any of them can be on campus at any given time. There are way more cars than garages or spots and people will search 30-45 minutes for a spot, not find one, miss class and just go home. Arrive early and be on campus all day or ride your bike.

4 College Senior

Campus Dining: Good Food – Lost of different and traditional food services it's hard to choose from sometimes... It's a good thing

College Senior

Scholarships: It's Ok – Its not a complicated process but I rather have grants or scholarships than loans.

5 College Senior

Diversity: So much diversity it's crazy. You can meet people from around the world.. Truly!! I have roomates from china!

3 College Senior

Local Atmosphere: Great Location – Ucf area is right in the middle of everything... Shopping, beaches, parks, it's awesome!

5 College Senior

Overall Experience: I love UCF. It is a huge school with lots of people from all over the world. The teachers are excellent and the campus is large and very clean.

2 College Senior

Weather: Bring Umbrella – Bring an umbrella if it rains. Like any campus, most of UCF is pretty out in the open.

5 Recent Alumnus

Facilities: U-C-F Knights! There is nothing quite like the spirit of the UCF campus. There are so many organizations that make it their priority to make sure the students always have tons of options of having fun safely. The games are a blast (ALWAYS enter in for the free ticket lottery--you won't regret it!) and my personal favorite is Late Knights--it's actually how I met most of my friends. There's always a lot of free events going on, from food fairs to Movies on the Plaza, and none of them ever disappoint.

3 Recent Alumnus

Computers: First Come First Serve – UCF has a wide array of technological resources for their students. However, the student body is HUGE, so there's a lot of students that need to use those resources. The computer labs have pretty strict rules, but are efficient for getting your work done...if you know where they are. Some labs are more obvious and therefore popular than others. I, personally, favored the ones hidden away that were rarely used. Printing services were always a pain to use, since EVERYONE needs to print their paper the hour before it's due. I would recommend having your own computer and printer set up in your dorm or apartment, simply to avoid the hassle of standing in line for the print lab. UCF's wireless is pretty reliable in campus buildings, but unless you're near the center of the campus, the outdoor wifi is a little weak. The speed is fine, for academic purposes, but I would never try to play computer games there.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
