2 College Freshman

Parking: Permit costs are extremely ridiculous, and parking spots are scarce. If you live on-campus, you really do not need a car, don't be afraid to walk! Me and my friend drive to our class every Thursday and it is always a drama because we cannot find a parking spot.

Facilities: The University of Central Florida dedicates a lot of funds to the facilities such as the Recreation and Wellness Center, the Student Union, and the Engineering Building.

4 College Junior

Academics: I came to UCF from a community college at my hometown and boy was i impressed by the difference in student resources and academics overall. For one, the academics are much tougher, but teachers are very helpful and really care about their students. They also use TA's that are passionate about helping students and offer study sessions before big tests. UCF also has a sarc(student academic resource center) building that is a place on campus that holds study sessions for all classes which is a free service to ucf students.

Guys & Girls: The majority of students at University of Central Florida are just typical college kids that work very hard in school during the week and when the weekend comes around they are at the clubs or partying. UCF has very diverse cultures and different types of people but for the most part students are very intellectual and have big goals in life which usually includes graduate school in the near future. Since UCF has pretty tough academics you'll always find the library packed full of students studying for their test the next day, doing homework and group activities with friends, and of course the kid who's past out on the couch from pulling an "all nighter" because they procrastinated too much the previous week.

1 College Junior

Computers: The wifi seems to have a great deal of downtime and there seems to be no reason why it goes down. On any day it may work fine, or not work at all.

College Junior

Nightlife: I don't like nightlife, so I'm not sure what it is like.

4 College Senior

Facilities: The campus has a tremendous amount of events and lectors. once you get a school email address you receive an email daily with all the activities that are going on that day. You can also look up future events. My department also sends me emails with events that are specific to my major.

The libraries are great about getting you almost anything you need. If they do not have it, you can access them to contact other libraries and have it sent to UCF free of charge.

3 College Senior

Weather: I am from south Florida so I find Orlando to be freezing in the winter. There is frost once in a blue moon but it doesn't snow. I am sure if you are coming from the North you will love the fall and spring. You will probably find the summer to be unbearably hot.

Classes are cold so you will prob need a tank top for walking around campus and then a sweater for classes.

2 College Senior

Health & Safety: I have never had anything stolen but many people talk about the laptop stolen when left for a min in the library or bags stolen from the restroom. one classmate swears all her textbooks were stolen out of her dorm room.

As far as personal safety, I have never felt unsafe on campus or in the parking lots.

3 College Senior

Facilities: I really enjoy the Interdisciplinary Studies Program. It allows me to have a lot of freedom in choosing the courses that interest me. After the general education requirements all students must take, I have not taken a single course that was not of interest to me. However, I find their required Cornerstone course a nightmare. It is very time consuming/busy work. I expect the Capstone course required in the last semester to be the same.

3 College Freshman

Parking: Parking passes are available at all times but they can are very expensive. Finding parking during the summer is not so bad but once fall comes around traffic is horrible and finding parking is almost impossible if you come at the wrong time.

3 College Freshman

Diversity: UCF is very diverse in regard to ethnicity/race and religion. I often say different groups around campus sharing and their religious beliefs. From what I have seen it is not diverse in sexual orientation and political beliefs, although there has been a strong movement lately to get students to vote.

3 College Junior

Nightlife: There are usually a lot you can do during night time, especially on weekends.

4 College Senior

Overall Experience: UCF has everything for any type of person. With such a large student population, you can find any sort of group, activity or discipline you want. Some areas are clearly more funded than others and it's definitely still going through growing pains, but it's a great place to be.

4 College Senior

Local Atmosphere: It's Orlando, pretty much anything you could want is within half an hour, including downtown bar scene, Disney World, Universal and some other theme parks, the beach and a huge amount of malls.

3 College Senior

Health & Safety: It's relatively safe on the campus itself, but directly off campus there tends to be a lot of crime. The school is about ten minutes away from one of the shadier areas, and there have been regular bomb threats at the main campus as well as other community colleges in the area. Also, there have been more than one murders within the past year, about two minutes away from the campus. However, considering the sheer size of the school, it is generally safe.

4 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: theres tons of stores for shopping, best restaurants are in orlando, we have THE best theme parks in the nation, and miami is nearby for partying.

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: Plenty of people focused on studying and getting good grades, there are also a lot of people to party for when you need a break. Teachers are rally smart, and know what theyre talking about.

4 College Junior

Transportation: Buses drive you around the whole campus. Also to and from most student apartment complexes.

5 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Very friendly. I'm happy to see people hanging out at the fountain on campus, or just seeing everyone having a good time.

1 College Sophomore

Parking: I've only tried to park here once, and it was nearly impossible. I don't have a parking decal, mainly because I take online classes. However when I do come to campus, I end up having someone take me because of the ridiculous $5 fee they charge per day. I'm only going to be on campus for less than 10 minutes when I run in and turn something in.

5 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I feel very safe on campus. There is always security driving around. Also they send out emails to students if there are any break-ins that have happened recently on campus, so students can be on the look-out.

Also, for new students before your first semester starts the school actually requires you to take a virtual online tutorial informing you about the safety services at UCF.

3 College Sophomore

Parking: The parking passes can be a little costly. Almost $100 for an annual parking pass. If you want to park for the day its $5. Parking fines are $30 and $40 if you don't pay within 10 business days. Even if you purchase a parking pass, if you have classes in the middle of the day it can take up to an hour to find parking on campus. If you live close to campus a bicycle would be much more preferable because all of the buildings are close to each other and you wouldn't have to pay.

3 College Senior

Health & Safety: like any school there have been instances of theft, and violence, especially late at night. However, if cautious, alert, and smart about where you park and being around people (especially late at night), there should be no problems. I have never had a problem at UCF and have been attending on and off for 10 years

3 College Senior

Campus Dining: standard cafe dining available. There are also chain restaurants you can select if paying out of pocket

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
