3 College Freshman

Computers: Good Labs – The computers in the math lab could be a little busy on certain days but other than that they have great computer labs.

4 College Senior

Guys & Girls: Lots of Hot Girls – There are lots of really hot girls who are really nice and friendly. Anywhere you go, there's an opportunity to meet new people. Especially waiting for shuttles, walking thru the student union, etc.

3 College Senior

Academics: Headed in the Right Direction – UCF is showing great progress towards becoming one of the best academic institutions in the United States. It continues to forge partnerships with many different companies and it has stimulated the Orlando community for years. The campus looks great and there are many resources offered to students.

4 College Junior

Drug Safety: I Feel Safe. Regardless of the drinking that goes on during tailgatting, there really isn't a problem with drugs on campus. The people there, from my experience, don't really pressure people to be involoved in drugs like they are. UCF also has a great drug and sex education videos for all incoming students, that is really helpful.

3 College Senior

Nightlife: Not on Campus but Off – Orlando is good for the nightclub scene in general. Downtown is about 30 minutes from campus and there is a bus that takes you downtown from UCF. If you go out and meet people there are always greek parties and house parties, which can be fun with the right people. On campus is dead though.

3 College Senior

Weather: It rains on half of the campus and it's sunny on the other. When it does storm UCF has a flooding problem so wear boots. Invest in an umbrella during the summer months because it's Florida and it will storm.

2 College Senior

Parking: The parking sucks but UCF is a huge college with a lot of people so you can't expect the best parking. The permits are ridiculously priced but if you're smart there are ways you can avoid a ticket.

3 College Senior

Diversity: Very Diverse – The campus is very diverse and there are many different clubs and organizations for students of different backgrounds and interests. UCF has a zero tolerance level for discrimination against people for any reason and does well to enforce that.

3 College Senior

Campus Dining: Mostly Fast Food but Some Good Healthy Options Are There – There are alot of fast food joints (chik-fil-a, burger king, sbarros, etc), but there are a few healthy and ethnic choices. My only issue is that the only places that are open past 5pm is burger king and subway. And Subway gets old fast.

3 College Senior

Majors: I Wish I Would've Realized My Goal Sooner – I used more credit hours than I was supposed to because I changed majors, and the major I started with is completely different than my current path. I enjoyed the classes I've taken though, and I feel it makes me more rounded.

3 College Senior

Majors: Transfering Can Be a Little Troublesome – I transferred from a private institution, and some of the classes didn't line up. However, when I tried to transfer here I wasn't told about this and so it took 6 months to find out why my application wasn't being accepted.

5 College Senior

Athletics: School Spirit! We've been making our name here in recent years, and that's because we've gained some amazing talent. Our school spirit is almost unmatched!

4 College Senior

Majors: Opportunities for Internships – I haven't had an internship yet, however, they offer medical internships in the fall and spring semesters. These are positions that may otherwise be hard to attain, but the advisors in the pre-professional office work hard to provide these kind of opportunities. Also, you get college credit for them. I plan to intern this year.

4 College Senior

Majors: Psychology Is an Excellent Major – I'm a psychology major, and I'm also on the pre-medical track. My major is different than other science majors, and so it makes me appear more well-rounded to a prospective medical school. The classes here for psychology are wonderful, engaging, and since the class sizes are smaller, its much easier to get to know your preofessors.

5 College Senior

Majors: Love My Major – My major is Hospitality Management and I love it. There are many businesses that come to our school to recruit us and give us experience in the workforce before we even graduate.

Off-Campus Housing: Lot of Options – The main campus has plenty of options of off campus housing for students of all price ranges. It is also very convenient for because there are shuttles that pick you up from the apartments.

College Senior

Nightlife: Not at Main Campus – I go to the Rosen College of Hospitality Management. The campus is great, but there is not nightline. It is apart of UCF, but this campus is 30 minutes away and a lot smaller.

4 College Senior

Campus Dining: Great Food, Closed During Summers. The food during the regular school year is great. There are regualr items that stay on the menu year-round in addition to special items of the day that change daily. The summer session is different. There is a small coffee shop open at from around 9 in the morning to 2 in the afternoon. They sell bagels, salads, scones, etc, but not full meals which does not satisyfy me.

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: Lots of Choices, but They Are All Very Similar. There are many choices, but most of the off-campus housing communities are very similar.

3 College Senior

Greek Life: Seperate from Non-Greeks, but Large Enough That It Doesn't Matter. Greek life is large around UCF, but non-greeks and greeks don't mix very well.

5 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Plenty of Fish in the 50,000-Student Deep Sea! With a school as big and populated as UCF, I find it hard to believe that you couldn't find your "type".

5 College Sophomore

Diversity: UCF has over 50,000 students, and that means that there are tons are different faces to be seen every day! I can't tell you which race is most predominant at UCF, as I feel as though I see each one equally. And, if you feel as though your own nationality isn't as noticeable as another, there are tons of nationality-based clubs on campus to join! These work great for wanting to learn about other cultures as well!

1 College Junior

Drug Safety: Drugs Vary, Drinking Is Popular – Students around Orlando usually go to raves, house parties, and clubs in their downtime where many students experiment with Molly, binge drinking, cocaine, and marijuana. Adderall and drinking have become problems on campus as well, resulting in a student's death, as well as other incidents. The university does enforce the zero-tolerance policy especially after events like this occur, but there is not much internal control. Both UCF and the plaza bars are off Alafaya Trail which is where most students are pulled over for DUI's and similiar offenses because of the "short" drive back to their apartments which can lead to cuffs.

1 College Junior

Parking: Parking on campus depends on the time of the day you need to park. There are almost 10 parking garages and numerous lots, yet I still leave 30 minutes early from about 2 miles away when driving on a rainy day. UCF is the 2nd largest in the nation, so parking garages are always packed, even with many students skateboarding, bicycling, or taking a shuttle. Parking enforcement is strict and frequent in the garages, ticketing anyone without the proper decal.

3 College Junior

Diversity: Diverse Student Body – There is a huge variety of people at UCF, differing in ethnicities and religions, sexual orientation, economic background, and age. There are numerous international students here, inluding Middle Eastern, Asian, European, and Spanish students. This of course brings a diverse religious population among campus which is apparent when sometimes passing by the Reflection Pond where religious groups and sometimes radicals meet, sing, and speak out to other students. Students are taught cultural diversity and ettiquete in hospitality classes which promotes open discussion among classmates who are varying in ethnicity/race, economic background, religion, and educational background. This diversity helps round our university and keep it interesting because some people who grow up sheltered learn about their peers in a respective way.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
