Campus Dining: UCF tries to make its dining options as great as possible however this is not the case. There are 2 dining halls where you can use your meal plan in, they have variety however their food isnt that great quality, and they barely serve you food. You need to keep going up to get more food, and it is not filling. The prices for a meal plan are quite high, and rarely anyone buys a meal plan the following semester.

Parking: Parking at UCF is TERRIBLE! This is one of the largest universities in the country, and they have many parking garages and parking lots, but they are always full. If you are driving to class arrive to campus atleast 30 minutes before your class starts because it is impossible to find a parking spot anywhere. You are better off finding a shuttle to take you to campus. In addition, if you park somewhere you are not allowed to, you will get ticketed, and they are very strict on ticketing.

Drug Safety: It's an average amount of drugs and alcohol. I have definitely noticed the drinking and weed, but other than that I don't think there's too much of a problem. It all depends on the kind of people you hang around.

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: There is a lot of off-campus housing around UCF. There are many different options and layouts, so you will have lot of choices. Some of the rates are high, but it seems like all student housing is expensive. They tend o have shuttles to the campus which is convenient. I never had trouble with availability. Most student housing has some kind of security and parking rules, so it is relatively safe.

3 College Senior

Transportation: There are shuttles from many of the off campus housing which is very convenient and helps reduce your cost for gas and a parking pass. Parking on campus can be a nightmare and passes are about $100/ year. There are Lynx buses and stops everywhere and a station downtown, but I'm not sure about the cost because I have a car. The airport is about 15-20 minutes away.

Drug Safety: I never was personally affected to alcohol during my college years. There are might be some parties, but usually everything under control. The cosiety i am a member of has a very strict alcohol policy, so I never see it at school.

Campus Dining: The are lots of foos options in a Student Union and in some of the Caumpuses. You can find late or 24 jours open places also. Vending mashines are everywhere. The food options ranges from different cuisines, traditional food, and fast food. Lots of options for any taste buds.

4 College Senior

Health & Safety: i have not felt unsafe at UCF. it is a pretty big campus but there is always a security around or one of those posts where you can call for help.

5 College Senior

Athletics: sports at UCF are pretty big especially the football season. students are very school spirited wearing the school colors and t-shirts. at football games there is always a crowd of fans to support the teams.

5 College Senior

Transportation: i think that the transportation options at school are good. there is always a shuttle every few miinutes and most of them are convienient in the location near the school.

4 College Junior

Campus Dining: The dining places are good with a variety of options. The student union has many different food places to chose from. Not only is there different styles of food but at a reasonable price since we are college students.

5 College Freshman

Transportation: There's a shuttle service, there's services for bike racks and stations to fix them and there's buses

5 College Freshman

Diversity: There are all kinds of ethnicities and religions on campus as well as clubs and organizations for everyone to feel comfortable in being themselves

Local Atmosphere: There is so much to do in Orlando!! Not only is the campus of the University of Central Florida always busy and fun, there is a city full of entertainment, excitement, and activities that the campus is located in. In the city of Orlando, there are so many parks (i.e. Disney, Universal, ect.). There is downtown Disney and regular downtown. There are so many main, busy streets that there are many restaurants and mini-golfing. There is never a dull moment at UCF or in the city of Orlando.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: If you want to go downtown, you can use a bus system. Some days, it isn't there, which can be inconvenient. Other than that, however, it is very affordable and helpful.

Academics: Academics here are good. I do have to say though there is a wide range when it comes to professors, especially in the gen-eds. I really advise using ratemyprofessor.com when choosing classes because I have heard multiple cases of people taking the same class but with different professors and one being impossible and the other being super easy. Workload isn't too bad. Most freshman start out taking 4 classes their first semester and then realize that they can handle taking 5. As a hospitality major, I have loved all of my professors thus far and the workload isn't too bad, its more hands on learning.

Facilities: I love that UCF is in the huge city of Orlando. Unlike other schools that are in the middle of no where, our location sets us apart in many different ways. As far as job opportunities, it is so helpful to be able to network and make connections with people in almost any field right here while we are in school. The amount of tourism in this area opens up many jobs, as well as the chances in Downtown Orlando. Socially, UCF gives you the best of both worlds. While on or near campus, you feel that "college-town" vibe, and have all the benefits of greek life, house parties etc. However, there is also a huge bar/club scene both around UCF and in downtown Orlando (which they run party buses to on the weekend). I also love that there is always something going on on campus. On almost any weekend, there is some sort of event going on at memory mall or at the student union. Our SGA is awesome and really does cater to what the student population wants.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: I think that we have a decent amount of diversity on this campus. There are a lot of different clubs that celebrate different ethnicities and backgrounds. There is the Asian Student Association, many different hispanic clubs, and also many that celebrate African American heritage. Even though the student body is primarily white, I have never felt a sense of hatred among groups. Also, I find that this school is predominately accepted of different sexual orientations, other than the rare cases of ignorance.

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I'm from out of state, so I was lucky enough to receive a pretty decent scholarship from UCF. They're usually really nice whenever you need to ask a question in the financial aid office, just be prepared to wait a while.

3 College Junior

Campus Strictness: Unfortunately I hardly ever even see the police on campus, some people may think that is a good thing but if something bad happens I want them to be around. As a student though they are pretty good about e-mailing you any security warnings that pertain to students and you can set up your emergency alerts to be texted to you as well. For example if there is a suspicious person reported on campus anyone on the texting alert will be notifies right away.

3 College Junior

Diversity: I feel there is a great deal of ethnic and racial diversity on campus, everywhere you go is like a big melting pot, although certain groups do tend to have their "cliques" people are fairly approachable for the most part. The tolerance for different beliefs is fairly good as well, as their is a free speech area in front of the library where various religious groups often hold public speeches (although it can get pretty annoying sometimes).

3 College Junior

Academics: I felt that the University of Central Florida's initial registration process is a huge pain to undertake, make sure when you get your high school and community college (if applicable) transcripts you get at least 3 copies of each because they WILL lose it, especially if you mail it in. Heck they even "lost" mine the second time I HANDED it in. I was a direct transfer too. Once you get in though as long as you check your online student account you shouldn't have too many more problems.

2 College Senior

Guys & Girls: It's a mixed bag. As an older student, I find most people to be self-involved, uninformed, and shallow. But many people aged 18-25 are probably like this on colleges all over the US.

4 Recent Alumnus

Academics: Pretty Well Done School – I applied to UCF because I heard they were a highly studied engineering and computer science type of university. The professors know what they're talking about and help out when they can. UCF also offers a huge array in majors, including their new program for Doctors and Nurses at the Medical City not too far from the main campus. In smaller classrooms, the professors really get one on one and some even learn your names, for a closer teacher-student academic relationship.

5 Recent Alumnus

Health & Safety: I have always felt safe on campus. UCF has put in some emergency alarms all over campus, that you press if you're under attack. Each garage has a storm siren as well, for when potentially hazardous weather may come in (hurricanes, tornadoes, massive lightning storms, hail) and can be heard all over campus. They also have text/email messages to all students (who register for it) that keep them up to date on any security announcement.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
