Greek Life: Greek life is not dominant at UCF however they do make an impact on campus. They participate in philanthropic events for both UCF and other Greek organizations and they donate their time and money often. Overall, they are accepted in the community although there are some students who don't view Greek life as a positive attribute. Although they don't receive 100% support from other students, the university supports them and works closely to make sure they follow all rules set and are a positive contribution to the community. There are many Greek Organizations on campus, mostly sororities, but UCF is working on expanding not just Greek Life but also Greek Housing. We are currently building two new houses for the upcoming year.

Off-Campus Dining: There are many local restaurants near UCF, both fast food and sit down restaurants. The pricing is usually reasonable as it is located near the University, however because it is also a residential area some places might be more expensive depending on your financial places. There are student discounts at some restaurants and many local places offer coupons frequently. I eat off-campus very frequently and there's always a variety from American to Italian to Chinese to Mexican.

Diversity: UCF prides themselves in being so diverse. We have students from various backgrounds, religious beliefs, political beliefs, ethnicity and sexual orientation. Although there are international students, they don't make up a huge part of the student body but there are more than average. UCF also has many clubs and organizations for various religious groups, political parties, sexual orientations and more. It is a diverse and accepting campus as our diversity if what sets us apart from most colleges.

Parking: Every year you are required to buy a parking permit and you can only park in the designated parking area for your student permit or you will be ticketed. Parking can be challenging as there aren't enough spots for the amount of students that commute to campus. Depending on the time of your class, you will experience different parking. Earlier in the morning and later at night parking is easier but mid-day can be challenging to find parking. After a certain hour and on weekends, however teacher/staff parking opens up to students so parking can sometimes be easier during these times. Always be prepared to search for parking, just in case it's busy that day.

Local Atmosphere: Orlando has many fun activities to do when not in class. One of the main attractions is Disney World which students love to buy a pass and visit throughout the year. Around campus there are great places to eat and shop as it is majority college students although there are local residents. Whether you stay near campus or venture off you will always be entertained. Plus, the local beach is only about an hour drive!! We even have a small beach like spot on campus with sand, water, paddle boarding and more!

Athletics: People get very into expressing school spirit for football season and there's a sense of community among the majority of the students. The football team isn't so great however.Basketball is ok, we have marcus Jodan, Micheal Jordan's son and we still aren't the best. Overall it's fun more than anything

Campus Dining: I work in the Dining services and I'd say overall It's decent and clean.

Parking: Even with the new parking garages parking is horrible

Local Atmosphere: Removed from the chaos of the tourist area yet everything you need like resturaunts are close by. Things around UCF stay open late.

Scholarships: Most freshmen are offered scholarships upon their acceptance to UCF without having to even apply for them. The ucf website also has tons of scholarship listings, which is really helpful. The financial aid office is also helpful and they're always willing to help you and respond to emails pretty quickly!

Transportation: UCF has shuttles that will take you to most of the off campus apartments in the area and also has Lynx busses that come to campus. There is also ZipCar on campus where you can rent a car for a couple of hours or days at an affordable price. There are also buses that will pick you up from campus and take you to certain areas like Miami, Gainesville, West Palm Beach, etc. (way cheaper than driving your car too!)

Diversity: The campus is extremely diverse! In front of the student union you will find tons of students from different religions, sexual orientations, and ethnicities promoting their beliefs and student organizations. UCF has students from diverse economic backgrounds as well due to their scholarship offers and financial aid.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: My biggest issues are the cost for small items. The food and amount are not appropriate to the price. Also, there is no fine dining location on campus that I am aware of. It would be nice to have a spot that offers this option.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: My program offers the opportunity to work with sports teams, elderly clients, and children in the field of exercise. We perform regular strength and aerobic testing, along with advanced biochemistry, ultrasonographic, and visual radiation techniques. The classes provide the most up-to-date knowledge of these techniques and how they may be utilized in the field.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: The Institute of Exercise, Performance, and Welness provides an experience that few universities in the country (in the same field) can match. In terms of professional experience, hands-on involvement, and aptitude of the staff, students gain a comlete understanding of the world of exercise science.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: If you are a freshman the dining halls are pretty good. It gives you a sense of ease because you don't have to worry about cooking and cleaning. The menu is pretty big, they switch between menus every day. Also, if you are a vegetarian, the on campus dining halls always have a vegan menu for that. They also have an open salad bar and a dessert section.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: Varsity sports at the University of Central Florida is pretty big, especially football. However, I do not take a part in any of them so I can't really tell you much about them. But, the spirit for the sports on this campus is great and the teams get much support from alumni and students.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: The drug scene at University of Central Florida is not very big. However, it all depends on the kind of people that you hang out with. If students are doing drugs they usually keep it to themselves and walk around the campus smoking a cigaret or something, even if we are a "smoke free" campus. Even through smoking isn't a very big scene drinking is, especially during tail gates.

3 College Freshman

Facilities: Nice recreation center. New stadium brought in a lot of new facilities and upgrades to the campus.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: The choices are endless when it comes to off-campus. The city is booming with choices and entrepreneurs.

3 College Freshman

Majors: The selection of majors and degrees are generic. There are popular ones that the general population can concentrate and choose upon, however, others that are wanting specific education and interest are limited to these generic classes and choices. This university in particular is competing with surrounding institutions that do offer these specific education courses and experiences.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: I know there's Greek life, but I honestly don't get involved. I'm a single parent and go to school, work, and home.

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Waterford Lakes is less than a five minute drive south from campus. There, the outside mall has various restaurants to chose from: Red Lobster, Smokey Bones, Olive Garden, and California Pizza Kitchen. Amongst a lot of restaurants, there are a lot of fast food joints as well.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I generally feel safe on campus; as a female however, I prefer to walk in groups. I know that the use of drugs and illegal drinking is forbidden on campus and frowned upon.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: It' is central Florida. The temperature is moderate most of the year. The summers tend to be warm to very hot. Bring an umbrella, it can rain at anytime, especially during the summer. A bright day with clear skies will still drop rain at any given moment, so always keep an umbrella close during the summer.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
