Greek Life: There are a lot of parties and lot of reckless stories. Some students wonder what exactly they are even there for....and some refer to it as "selling your soul." I mean, you are to come when they call, no matter the workload. However, it is a BIG hit here at UCF. Sororities and frats are always doing something and many kids find the social life exhilarating.

Off-Campus Dining: There are many great restaurants with a lot of variety. They are all conveniently placed and I have heard that a few have student discounts. My favorites are Olive Garden and Red Lobster, though pricey. Tenders has always saved the day when I needed a cheap tasty meal. The only thing I wish is that there would be more delivery options...especially healthy delivery options. Many students do not have cars and DoorstepDelivery.com is very expensive!

Drug Safety: Have never seen drug use, sale, or had peer preasured at UCF.

Campus Housing: Ok the thing about UCF housing is its hit or miss. When I was freshman I lived in Libra and though it was close to the middle of campus and shaved off time for getting to class it was not the best experience. Libra and Apollo are close to classrooms but cramped and old looking. However you will have tons of bonding experiences complaining about it. Now as for the Towers and the Academic Village experiences totally different. Both dorms are farther away from classrooms but they are more like resorts then dorms. Kitchen, pools, single rooms, maid service and a bevy of activities thrown by housing itself. One of my best memories was the Luau pool party sophomore year.

Nightlife: If you want to party and a good night life scene UCF is the place. For the non drinkers and underage students there is always Late Knights which is a themed party every month that provides food, games, music and is free stuff! Also ROXY and most of the clubs are 18+ near UCF. For the people who are into clubs and bars Church Street is in downtown Orlando and has as a variety of clubs and bars next to each other that are reasonably priced. For those people who don't want to spend money there are tons of house parties all the time near or on campus ( check Greek Row near Lake Claire).

Facilities: Academically UCF is not the best. You have a bunch of party goers, a high acceptance rate, overwhelming number of students in a clasroom and professors who sometimes don't actually teach but assign you a book and expect you to teach your self. However UCF has its good points too. They campus is huge and beautiful. If you are the type of student who hates being bored and likes to socialize UCF is perfect. The atmosphere is laid back, and their are tons of things for students and alumni to do. From the epic Spirit Week when students are allowed jump into the fountain( youtube Spirit Splash) to Light Up UCF during the end of semester UCF shows holiday movies and has an outside ice skating rink. I had a blasts attending there and the only reason I gave it a B- is I am very academic oriented and I only found a couple of professors who really allowed me to grow as a student.

Local Atmosphere: At UCF, you are surrounded by fun local bars. The most popular which is the Knight Library. You are a short 10 minute drive from a mall. You are also close to the airport, Disney, and Universal. There are good local eateries surrounding the school. The school's Rec & Wellness center offers many outings including bike rides, canoe trips, snorkeling, and much more. The gym is also free. It provides free workout classes and access to personal training.

3 College Junior

Drug Safety: The drug safety program at UCF is relatively effective. During your first semester at this school, you are required to take 2 classes online regarding alcohol and drug awareness. Through out the semester, you can find multiple stands set up around the school promoting drug safety and awareness. Usually, I would just pass these stands without a second glance, but they do a good job of motivating you to participate. They provide games, prizes, food, and drinks.

3 College Senior

Drug Safety: I would say the drug scene at UCF is fairly average. It definitely depends who you hang out with. Although alcohol is the most popular drug of choice, other drugs are in circulation as well.

Academics: I came to UCF because they have a wonderful film program. Right now I am taking film survey and I love it. The teacher really gets into details and separates the reading assignments into sections that are actually doable.

Transportation: I attend a regional campus so I am unsure about the transportation.

Recent Alumnus

Greek Life: I do not live on campus. I attend a regional campus and live at home.

4 College Senior

Computers: The Computer are basic but can do anything that you will need to do. Almost all of them are PC but there is a lab that has MAC. They are very quick and dependable.

3 College Senior

Parking: Parking depends on how much you are willing to walk. I can always find a spot for class it just might be a little further than I was hoping. And try to schedule your classes in the morning or late afternoon/evening.

4 College Senior

Weather: It is nice Florida sunshine year round!! It can get very hot in the summer but overall you will be satisfied with the weather.

4 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: There is a wide selection of off-campus housing. However, even though you are living 5 minutes from the school doesn't mean it will take you 5 minutes to get there. The traffic gets kind of bad and then there's parking. Depending on the time of day it will take you at least 15 minutes to find parking. But then there's shuttles, which is very convenient.
The cost is decent, not too high, not too low. You can find some pretty good deals.

Local Atmosphere: I absolutely LOVE Orlando. It has so much to offer. It's just about knowing where the hot spots are. There are different websites and even a newspaper called Orlando Weekly that highlights the different events going on.
However, I would like to mention one con about Orlando. Everything is very spread out. You can survive without a car, but having one is very beneficial.
Oh and of course Orlando has it's fishy areas, but what city doesn't?

3 College Senior

Scholarships: The financial aid process at UCF is not that bad. I've dealt with the office a few times. Although, they were always quick, they've always answered any questions I've had. So, not the best, but decent enough.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: The School is overall nice but I did not receive any type of financial aid.

3 College Sophomore

Majors: The Business program at UCF is pretty simple and straightforward. I plan on becoming a manager of a biomedical facility.

4 College Sophomore

Computers: There are tons of computer labs on campus that are available 24/7. However, most printers only print in black and white and the wifi has connectivity issues.

2 College Sophomore

Greek Life: I'm Not Sure – Since I live off campus, I spend of my free at home studying and exercising so I hardly know what the Greek social scene is like at my campus.

3 College Sophomore

Parking: If you have classes in the morning, you better come early. However, as the day goes on, the parking situation becomes lenient.

1 College Freshman

Scholarships: I'm not sure specifically for scholarships, but I know anytime I've gone to the financial aid office, they have been very rude. They are just very short with you and not helpful at all. I know from personal experience that paying for college is very difficult but I would suggest any outside help from websites or the community. I find it very difficult to find scholarships available through the college itself, especially if you family is middle, or even low-middle income. If you're family makes more than thirty grand a year, it's very hard to get any federal assistance.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
