3 College Senior

Greek Life: Greek life has had some serious issues lately, and for such a large school (2nd largest in the nation!) the Greek system is disproportionately small.

3 College Junior

Scholarships: As an independent student with no credit, I find it really difficult to get the aid I need. I'm still appealing my rejection for extra loans, but am confident I'll find a way to make it work.

5 College Junior

Computers: On the campus for my program we have brand new computers with the latest software and development kits. Also, each student is given a new laptop.

College Junior

Campus Dining: As a grad student, I have not had the opportunity to eat anywhere on or near the main campus since my campus is separate.

4 College Junior

Diversity: It's one of the largest schools in the U.S. With that many students, diversity can't be avoided, which brings many different perspectives.

4 College Freshman

Majors: I love my major, there was a time where I wasn't happy with a class because I didn't feel interested however that was due more towards my untreated ADD, but besides the point. If you enjoy biology and chemistry (and can understand/willing to put forth extra effort to understand) then I would recommend this program. However, also look into other science majors if there's something you enjoy more. Don't think that you HAVE to be bio-med major to get into a med-school.

4 College Freshman

Majors: I really love science so being in Biomedical Sciences major is perfect. Aside from gen eds that I have to take it's all applicable topics that I'm learning. Most teachers understand that sciences are challenging so theirs usually SI sessions and tutoring available. Only downside is the class sizes. Because this is a huge major at UCF it can be a struggle to get into the upper level classes.

5 College Freshman

Majors: I joined my program at my orientation and it was very simple. They ran me through everything. It's best to declare your major as soon as possible because changing it can be difficult if you don't have requirements done.

Greek Life: UCF isn't much of a Greek school. Greek life isn't very big here and it's most likely due to strict rules that has recently been adapted to greek life at UCF. However, plenty of people still are apart of it. It doesn't really affect social life on campus much but it is a great way to meet people. There are a bunch of new Greek houses being constructed lately, plenty of housing for Greeks.

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: The housing at UCF is pretty nice compared to other universities I've been to. Some aren't all that close to classes but it's convenient not having to fight for parking in my opinion.

2 College Junior

Parking: Parking can be a terrible problem at UCF if you go during peak hours. The price of the permit isn't bad but you may be searching for spots for a while if you choose the wrong garage. The tickets are outrageous compared to the price of permits. Overall, parking for UCF could be improved considering the sheer amount of commuter students but I'm sure other places are even worst.

4 College Junior

Facilities: The University of Central Florida has an amazing campus. The school being so new, everything very modern and aesthetically appealing, for example, the student union is innovative and looks like it was built yesterday. There's plenty of places to grab a bite to eat, the rec and wellness center is state of the art, on campus housing is great, and the library is not only large, but has a beautiful view of the reflection pond (our campus' large fountain). The campus is always lively with a large amount of events for every walk of life to attend. I love the student life at the University of Central Florida!

5 College Junior

Majors: I absolutely love Rosen College of Hospitality! I transferred from Pennsylvania to have the world class teachers, classes and internship opportunities. SO thankful to be here!

College Junior

Campus Housing: I do not live on campus. I live about 30 minutes away from campus.

3 College Junior

Diversity: There are so many diverse students at UCF. Every kind of ethnic background and origins

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There are multiple places to choose from for students who are interested in dining at UCF. I can name over 30 restauraunts on University Blvd which is minutes away from campus. Restaruants include fast food, healthy dining, Asian, breakfast, dining in, wings, etc. Its affordable, and close!

5 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Honestly the drug scene at UCF is not big. Aside from going out to local bars or tailgating, you will rarely see students participating in acitivity that involves any alchohal. When it comes to doing drugs, there is minimal to no noticable activity of students doing this activity.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: Sometimes, it can be extremely hot along with very high humidity, especially after it rains. Such a weather often causes some uncomfortable smell and makes people feel sick.

Greek Life: I would consider Greek life at my college as moderately good. I myself is a person who likes to socialize with different students from different backgrounds, with different grades, and with different life experiences, so getting into any of the fraternities/sororities would only put some limit on my school experiences because Greek students are more likely to put a lot more emphasis on how smart they are rather than trying to perceive and acknowledge others' perspectives. Hence, for those who want to get involved with so called "smart" students, then this may be the place, but for those who want to acquire different life experiences, then this may not be the place.

Also, fraternities and sororities tend to have a lot of parties almost every week. Some of them at my college tend to overdo things and get screwed up the next week, which in turn ruins some of the students' college life. Fraternities and sororities at my college do not necessarily represent the "best" clubs for "you". Whether a club is best for you or not depends on your perspectives, and this is how I view them at my college.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Both safety and security on campus are relatively good as there are always security guards and assistants available even after buildings on campus close. For example, in my college, library is usually open until 1 a.m. in the morning, and some students tend to study till that time. For such students, whether they are living on campus or not, can call on those guards or assistants if they feel unsecured and can ask for escort to a parking lot or to a place where students feel fine.

Besides that, there is not any major campus crime. Though, at night, students walking alone may encounter some people trying to snatch off their money or assault them. Still again, security guards and assistants are very quick in reacting to such circumstances.

Local police officers are also very helpful as they are much quicker in responding to any students' call and taking actions to make sure students are safe.

From my personal experience, I don't encounter any of such circumstances although I am also on campus till midnight. Even though I have certain responsibility in protecting myself, I can also faithfully trust security guards, assistants, and local police officers, which make feel safe most of the time.

Academics: I would like to take this opportunity to encourage anyone who is contemplating Speech Pathology or Audiology as a career to attend UCF. I have thoroughly enjoyed each and everyone of my classes at UCF and have gained so much knowledge on my field of study. EVERY ONE of my professors are either audiologist or speech pathologist themselves which gives us as students a great advantage to learn about their own personal experiences in the field. Speech pathology was by far the best major I could have ever picked for myself and the career to choose for the rest of my life. Speech pathologist can have so much of an impact on a patients life and gives you a feeling of self worth when you help those who can't help themselves.

Off-Campus Dining: One of the greatest parts about living in such a big place like Orlando is the fact that your options for food appear to be endless! The choices of restaurants around UCF seem to be anything you would possibly be in the mood for. The prices are on the expensive side but no more than you pay anywhere else in this day in time. A lot of the campus affiliated dining options get a lot of hype but aren't very impressive. Anything in waterford lakes town center or along University BLVD. is a good choice.

2 Recent Alumnus

Off-Campus Housing: I personally am not impressed at all by the off campus living at UCF. The apartment I live in now is ok but I have had many problems since I moved in such as excessive noise from neighbors above, loud music blaring from the pool, cant find a parking spot...etc. I have come to find just by talking to friends that live in off campus housing experience the same issues. The only thing I have really enjoyed about my apartment is the convenience to UCF. If that is all you are looking for and you can ignore the other problems then off campus housing may be for you.

Guys & Girls: As a student at UCF you will notice that the student population is one that is far from common. Rarely do you ever see the same person twice because of both the size of our campus and the amount of students. The unique part about UCF is the variety of students we have. Foreign and international students seem to be drawn to UCF which makes our university all the more exciting. So much to learn about others and their cultures. Students in general at UCF are very down to earth and pleasant college students. I have only been here two semesters and honestly can't think of anywhere else I would rather be. I have made so many new friends and am proud to be a UCF knight!

3 College Student

Off-Campus Housing: All of the off-campus housing is mostly modern, although some complex's have problems with burglary.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
