Local Atmosphere: It's a college town so there are clubs and places to have fun near campus. You also have clubs and restaurants dowtown. The good malls are about at least a 20 minute drive though. Also Disney and other theme parks are not to far away.

3 College Senior

Academics: It's a heavy workload so you have to manage your classes carefully. Most of the internship and job opportunities are for environmental biology. Also the upper division electives aren't always flexible enough to where you can take classes that would be interesting to you. Sometimes they don't offer the electives you need or would like to take.

5 College Senior

Computers: The only time there might be a challenge finding computers is during finals week when there are more people than usual on campus. Printing on campus is very easy especially since there are two printing labs where you can print for free.

3 College Senior

Academics: Many of the professors could do a lot better at helping students learning. Also some of the advisers don't have the information they need to do their job better. I say that because a handful of advisers are amazing but many only have basic knowledge, which you can get to on your own. In addition this could just be in my major department (biology).

3 College Junior

Academics: I am in the Interdisciplinary Studies program at UCF and it is a great program. They have their own website and events with a lot of great information included in them. They even have their own advisers for the program.I really like that you get to pick a major and two minors for this program. It gives you a little bit in each area and makes for a well-rounded degree. There are always e-mails going out from the program advisers about meetings and opportunities.

Guys & Girls: People at UCF are just like normal college students. There is a good mixture of young and older students. There are a lot of people at UCF so you meet new ones everyday. I like the satellite campuses atmosphere too. People are friendly and very helpful. Much better than the local community college.

3 College Junior

Parking: Parking at UCF is actually not too bad. When it's a busy day, it can be tough. Overall though, it is good. The UCF campus security is good about patrolling and locating people who are not parked correctly. I like the monitoring and police presence at the school.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: Not a lot of Asians or middle eastern people. Mostly white and Hispanic students.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: New but can be dirty. Mold and mildew are a huge problem.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: I came to the University of Central Florida because of the great atmosphere that the campus and its students both offer. They provide countless opportunities for helping their students to succeed in their studies and more. The togetherness of the student body is irresistible and can''t be beat by too many other schools in the country!

Transportation: You can drive, bike, skateboard or take the shuttle. Shuttles run at a certain time however so you have to run on their schedule.
Parking isn't as bad unless you get to UCF late morning to early night (10 AM-6PM are always the most busiest times). Many people have Fridays off so that day you generally can show up whenever and still find a good parking space.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are a wide variety of options of off-campus dining that offer afforadable and filling meals to your typical college student budget. Local Pizza restaurants such as Lazy Moon and Five Star, Italian food such as Olive Garden (All you can eat soup, salad and breadsticks offered ONLY at lunch time), Hawaiian Grindz (Delicious Hawaiian food), Sus Hi (the Japanese Chipotle), Frozen Yogurt and many more!!! :D

4 College Freshman

Transportation: There are shuttles coming from almost every apartment building off campus. If you live on campus you can walk to every single one of your classes

4 College Freshman

Academics: All my teachers have been very good at what they do, very interesting, and always there to help

3 College Freshman

Parking: Parking is reasonably priced. Usually always a spot to find

3 College Junior

Majors: I am required to participate in an internship in order to graduate from my PSM program. The University is not very helpful in terms of assisting in finding and lining up internships but they are available for those that are willing to search. Most available internships are not paid and focus more on job training and contract gathering.

4 College Junior

Computers: I frequent the new Graduate Student Center which has two computer labs, a presentation and conference room where you can practice oral presentations with a full projector screen. This area is all brand new and there are never any issues getting a computer or printing off a report.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: The area surrounding UCF has a variety of apartment and condos to choose from as well as neighborhoods where rental homes are often available. The majority of the apartments are what you would expect for a college area and are relatively cheap, clean and easily accessible to campus. I am able to ride my bike to get to everything I need which I find convenient.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: There are TONS of off campus housing options for UCF. All are individual leases by room,so if your roommate cant pay, it wont effect you. Depending on here you're at eefects your cost obviously, but I lived in a student apartment my first year and paid $529 including all utilities. There are ones directly across from campus and there is also a UCF bus that comes and is free. I never had any safety issues, overall it was a great experience.

Parking: Parking can be a huge issue. Always allow extra time to find a space so youre not late for class. If you live in a student apartment off campus I would suggest riding the UCF bus. That way you dont have to pay for a permit, the bus is free and it saves a headache for sure. Any tickets should be paid asap as well.

5 College Junior

Facilities: What impresses me most are the Professors. As I have already commented, they are real life experience Professors and they mingle that with the text book. UCF must hand pick Professors as opposed to just advertising. I have been a student at other schools, elevaluated student life and Professors as UCF is the best! UCF makes a point of involving the student in more than just academics, but in UCF social events as well. You feel a part of a student society; a close knit group. Whether yo complete your studies online or in a classroom, the opportunities are equal. The staff stays in contact through the Knights email and apprises the student daily of opportunities.

5 College Junior

Health & Safety: Crime will happen anywhere you have groups of individuals. I personally know some of the campus police and they really care. Some police forces make you feel as if you can't rely on them but not the UCF police; we have or own police force.

5 College Junior

Greek Life: Some see Greeks as snobby but I think that is just a prejudice. Greeks are admitted because of GPA-they study harder than some and some people are just jealous.

3 College Junior

Drug Safety: While there are definitely drugs on campus, it doesn't really show unless you are looking for it.

4 College Sophomore

Nightlife: House parties are fun, Nightlife is great to get your mind off of a hard day of work and school.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
