Campus Housing: Dorms here are pretty good. Housing is available everywhere you go. UCF is like a city of it's own. So everything you need is right on campus. Social activities are rampant. Anywhere you go, you're bound to find something that peaks your interest and helps you connect with other students and locals. You won't feel homesick at all after the first week.

Scholarships: There are plenty of financial aid opportunities at the school. You just have to be willing to go out there and apply. Financial aid doesn't just fall from the sky, you have to go out there and get it.

Nightlife: Bars and clubs are within arms reach and loads of fun. If you're underage, there is plenty to do as well. You can still hang out at the clubs, but just no drinking. Still able to have good clean fun.

Health & Safety: I have yet to feel unsafe at UCF. Yes we do have incidents, but the reaction towards the incidents by the campus security are always quick and reliable. It also doesn't hurt to know that there is a police station and a fire department on campus.

Academics: I enjoy the academics here. Came from a high school that didn't really have a lot of attentive teachers and a fair curriculum. Coming here was a huge upgrade for me. Professors are always available and respond to community questions quickly. TA's (teacher's assistants) are on point. Workload is fair but it really depends on your major and schedule. Most students here are engineers so you hear a lot of gripe over the mathematics course only because they have to go through each math course. Overall, the academics are great here.

Majors: It truly depends on where you work and how they schedule you. I chose the Walt Disney Company as my internship option and I've learned to love the company because of all the options they offer their cast members in the sense of which role they'd like to perform. However, they don't really "work with you" when it comes to school and projects. They are more concerned about their cast member's "seniority date" over a student's class.

Majors: The process of getting into the University of Central Florida is actually much harder than getting into the program that our insitution offers. It just takes one appointment and a "declaration" of a major.

Majors: Very satisfied with my universities program for hospitality. However, I wish they did not require a group project for every class because it can become hard to work with four groups at once, in which, all need to get together around the same time frame during the semester and we all are required to work for three semesters in order to graduate.

Majors: I attend the Rosen College of Hospitality Management which focuses highly on allowing students to work in their major's enviornment as well as attend classes that train them to apply what they've been taught into the real world. It's very hands-on which is what hospitality management is all about. "High touch over high tech."

Off-Campus Housing: Most of the off campus housing is just fine, but it is expensive compared to other college areas in Florida.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: Every single afternoon in the summer, it rains like clockwork at about 3pm. Always bring an umbrella. Temperatures are nice except for July through September.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: The on campus housing is great compared to other schools, but it can be expensive.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: There should be a housing community or building for LGBTQ students. Otherwise, UCF is very diverse.

4 College Junior

Drug Safety: Peer pressure is not common, as well as hazing from what I know.

5 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Every one at the campus dresses to impress. Also share a lot of interests.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Some of it was expensive, although the convenience and quality was sure the key.

4 College Junior

Drug Safety: The drug scene at the University of Central Florida is almost non existent. Of course it depends on who you hang out with and where you are located at but the safety on campus makes it so that the air and environment always feel safe n clean.

Weather: The weather in Orlando is beautiful! Blue skies with perfectly whitened clouds above and birds chirping. It's beautiful. The downside is that being in Florida its so sunny and with the campus being so large it can be blinding if you don't have sunglasses. As for the rain...that can be miserable some days. During orientation they actually suggest every student to buy rain boots. If not you're stuck in a 3 hour lab in wet shoes and pants. Apart from that, I enjoy every minute of the weather at UCF. Daily, I relax in the grass by the reflection pond and watch the clouds!

Majors: Getting into UCF was the issue I had. I had a long list of extracurricular activities, I was ranked top 13 in my class of like 280 students, my GPA was a 3.9, I took a total of 7 AICE classes junior and senior year and passed all the exams, except for math. I had a great application, but my standardized test scores were average having an ACT score of 23. With this, I had to attend the summer semester or I could not go in the Fall. This was hurtful, but I'm just saying they really do hold test scores as number 1 priority!

3 College Sophomore

Majors: I've only completed my first year, but I enjoy it thoroughly! The teachers are well experienced, and welcoming during office hours. We've had guest speakers come into my forensics class and they inform us on websites we should look into for job/internship opportunities, although they're hard to get into. The workload is reasonable, but you must stay on top of your work or it's easy to fall below a B.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: I'm currently majoring in Forensic Science which is enough for me. Only two of the major universities in FL have this type of program so I'm grateful. I'm very pleased with it so far, the teachers I've had are very experienced in this field and show their passion. After I graduate I hope to start a job at a local county sheriff department or in a forensics lab. I worry that there won't be many openings although "google" claims its an increasing field, but with a job in this area, not too many people leave until retirement. But I'm willing to take the risk even if I have to move across the country! UCF will prepare me for my future.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Drug safety has become a huge initiative at UCF, but a lot of students who do drugs tend to do it off campus at house parties. On campus, they are strict enough to even ban smoking, but off campus is where most of the drug- doing takes place. As with most colleges and universities, alcohol is more prevalent. Policy has become more strict, though, and they are really cracking down.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Off-campus housing is great, from what I have seen. There are plenty of options for each and every students' needs, with expensive and inexpensive, fancy and simple. Some are close and some are far. There is an apartment for everyone, and all are safe.

2 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: Campus strictness is very all over the place, it is neither consistently strict nor consistently lenient. It appears to run on a case by case basis, with some extreme cases let off very easily, or the opposite occurring. Cheating is regularly punished, but underage drinking is caught and controlled sporadically.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: The athletics are absolutely fantastic. Football is our biggest, and we have recently moved up a conference into what was the Big East, after becoming Conference USA champions just this past year. Our workout facilities are designed to benefit student athletes and general students alike, as well as cater to IM sports. As we compete in a wide range of sports, there is almost always an event to go to!

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
