3 College Senior

Majors: I did an internship with the political science department with the world trade center of orlando and found it to be pointless. I learned almost nothing and was not compensated for my work. The department tried to help, but I have received a B.A. in political science and feel I am in no way prepared for the field. There is a career services department that tries to set you up with internships and coops, however it is very limited to business availability or certain majors and I have found it almost helpless to 75% of students that applied.

Majors: It is very easy to get into Molecular and Microbiology program. In fact, just declaring the major allows you in. However, the classes are challenging and if you do not do well there is a chance you will not be able to participate. There is really no application process, however, I feel there has been no help or guidance since I have been in the program. The counselors and main office have done a horrible job and the best advice always came straight from my professor, even about class scheduling. The program curriculum is preparative for further studies and I would recommend it, but you have to set a goal and have a support group because it is most likely M&M counseling department will provide little to no guildance.

4 College Junior

Majors: Nursing is not easy. I have not started the actual program yet but the pre-req's can be rough. They are difficult and because the nursing program is highly competitive it is imperative to do well. It is a lot of work, that being said, thus far, despite the stressful all-nighters I do very much enjoy my major, what I learn, and learning to apply it in a clinical setting.

3 College Junior

Majors: Most majors, as far as I know, as long as you complete the required classes you can earn your degree (make sure you visit your advisors OFTEN and check your degree audit yourself, advising isn't a strong point at UCF). Just be sure to get good grades because I've had several friends fights for spots in required upper level classes, where the professors are scarce. However, my major, nursing, requires you to take 2 years of prerequisites, and then apply to the college of nursing which is very competitive and not easy to get into (especially if you are not on top of your advising.)

Health & Safety: Crime is overall low, you hear about the occassional break in a car in the parking lot, however I do not think it is any worse than any other campus. You consistently see police patrolling campus and it is very well lit at night. There are emergency poles everywhere. I have never questioned my safety on campus.

4 College Junior

Facilities: UCF has a beautiful and growing campus. The gym is huge and gorgeous, however if you don't live on campus, it can be a pain to get to as the parking garage near it is always full. Everyone knows UCF for the reflection pond, which is so relaxing to sit next to and study, well kept. The union is full of helpful resources, as well as a food court.

Computers: The printing lab is great; students get 100 free pages per week, and the process is relatively painless.

Parking: I get to campus early enough to where I always get a great spot. However, on off days, parking is horrendous.

5 Recent Alumnus

Facilities: The library and the medical center are great. They're advanced and the staff is always helpful.

Facilities: The printing lab is excellent to print out last minute papers and you can get one free scantron per day.

Off-Campus Dining: Most of the dining is relatively inexpensive and offers a good variety.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: I'm satisfied with my education at the University of Central Florida. Although there are large class sizes, professors usually will be available to talk to. There are also many options for tutoring.

3 College Freshman

Weather: It gets awfully hot here throughout the year and there are a lot of open areas that make walking to class very sweaty.

Campus Strictness: Its fairly strict here about underage drinking and any drug use. If you choose to do it be cautious I have quite a few friends that are in some deep trouble involving weed smoking on campus.

4 College Freshman

Nightlife: Parties are very abundant and usually frequent almost every day of the week. If you aren't into that lifestyle there are on campus options to take up your weekends that are pretty fun as well.

Campus Housing: Lake Claire is pretty nice and its easy to get to my classes in the area but not everyone is very friendly and welcoming.

3 College Junior

Weather: Since its in florida the weather is never predictable. Of course its always hot and humid but we always get random rain everyday. There really isnt a winter, we maybe have one full week of cold weather

3 College Senior

Greek Life: Greeks are all over campus. They represent their organization with respect.

5 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: This is a school for locals. The surrounding area has more housing than the community has demand for. There are a wealth of jobs and community activities for students who live off campus.

3 College Senior

Scholarships: Sometimes it is hard to get the answer you need without being re-routed to other departments. Otherwise the acceptance process was easy through myucf.

3 College Sophomore

Facilities: UCF is A large campus with plenty of modern buildings, sports facilities, and environmentally freindly landcaspes... It is actually what attracted me to the campus from the start. Being largely a commuter school, it still has the right balance of on campus activities and facilities to make for a positive learning experience.

Weather: Located in Orlando Florida... Amazing Weather... A little humid in the summer but overall great... As for Huricanes... Last one was 2004 and before that, Orlando wasn't hit with a Huricane in decades.

Academics: The academics offered at University of Central Florida is very good. They offer various of degree for just about anything a student wants to become. The professors at the campus are very knowledgable about the subject they teach. Registration is pretty easy if you transfer from another college.

1 College Freshman

Parking: Parking is a nightmare, 45-60 minutes before class and that if you know where you are going. The fees to park are high and the tickets they hand out for violations of anything, not just parking in the wrong area, are really high.

4 Recent Alumnus

Scholarships: Make sure to complete the FAFSA application each year.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
