4 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: There is always a lot to do around UCF! This includes theme parks like Islands of Adventure, Sea World and even Busch Gardens is only an hour away. College students around here are very active, always running and exercising. It is very fun to be around.

3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: I don't go out much but I've heard from others that there is plenty to do around UCF.

College Sophomore

Scholarships: I have not yet received my scholarship status for UCF, I am a transfer student.

4 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Any time you are around college students, you're bound to encounter at least a little bit of drug conversation. This is unavoidable no mater what university you attend.

2 College Senior

Drug Safety: I would say it compares to any other large university. There are great resources on campus for students who have concerns about their drug or alcohol use and would like to make changes.

College Senior

Greek Life: I really can't evaluate this as I am not part of the Greek system. It seems like there have been a lot of misconduct issues lately, but I only know that from local news media.

4 College Junior

Academics: Ditto on the social aspects. The program is top-notch and the workload is manageable but dedication to time management is a must. There are interships and job opportunities without looking too hard. Facilities are great.

4 College Junior

Academics: I appreciate the diversity of the professor and curriculum. At times, the availability of such classes may not be entirely feasible but the online course option are a solid alternative.

College Junior

Athletics: Theres baseball, not sure about basketball; but I'm definitely anticipating football in a month. For $99, you can get season tickets to all home games and since UCF is in good conference, all of them will be enjoyable. Ditto on hockey, volleyball, softball, or soccer; not my cup of tea.

College Junior

Nightlife: Im too busy studying to notice the nightlife and I'm more of a lone wolf. I drink and smoke by myself most, but not all the time. The clubs near downtown are great and the women are gorgeous, with plenty of food options but your wallet will definitely shrink so don't be surprised. Overall, i have a great time there.

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: There are cops always on patrol and its very clean

5 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: We had a recent scare, where someone clearly became mentally unstable and so angered with his situation that he decided he was going to shoot at students, and bomb one of the buildings offered for on campus housing. One of his roommates was in ROTC, and called 911. Police, FBI, every available help came to our rescue. The explosives were taken care of, and the shooter saw no other option, but to take his own life.

5 College Sophomore

Majors: I am very happy with the psychology program here at UCF. I love the teachers so far, and the classes offered. This is my dream job. I love helping people, and have personal experience with hereditary depression and anxiety. I have no concerns with getting a job. I believe that as we progress, and become more advanced, the average person develops more stress; the new age demonstrates more wear and tear on the human psyche. My only concern is funding my education through graduate school all the way to a Ph.D.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: My program is a considerably easy one to enter. I started as a Chemistry major before I persued my passion: counseling. Because I already took chemistry, it took care of my science credit, but you have to take Bio I, and that will literally take care of 4 requirements for the major. This major also requires research later on, which I hear is hard work, but very rewarding. I am only going into sophomore year, so I'm not as far in my major yet.

5 College Sophomore

Majors: For the beginning psychology course, our grade included 10 points of research, which implied we had to participate in studies to receive credits. This was a great experience, because new studies introduced me to new topics, and captivated my interest. I've only just started the psychology program, but I enjoy everything there is to do with psychology. I hope to become a counseling psychologist later in life, but for now I can take interesting psych electives (as required for my major to take a couple) like sleep and dreams, and sexial behaviors.

5 College Sophomore

Majors: There are plenty of intership opportunities for my major, psychology, but as a first year student, I was not into my major enough to get started on that. I certainly plan to, because I plan on getting my Ph.D., and the research studies that are conducted at UCF interest me a bunch, so assisting in these studies or conducting my own would not only give me working experience in my field, but I would also enjoy it.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: Our university is trying to enforce a smoke free campus, but people get around it pretty easily without being caught. They just light a cigarette when no actual authority is around. Though if you actually do get caught smoking, you have to pay a fine. Interestlingly enough, the teachers that smoke aren't handling the news as well as the students. This is probably, because they might not get off as easily. Also, RA's of building are required to search rooms, but they only perform inspections once a semester, and you schedule with them what time they will come over. They can't open drawers, so it only applies to objects in plain sight. You have plenty of time to hide anything that should not be in your possession. All in all, my university tries its best to enforce strict rules, but with the privacy argument and the fact that it is almost impossible to offer 100% surveillance of the entire campus, students may get away with breaking the rules.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: I am a hospitality major and I love it. We have our own campus (Rosen College of Hospitality Management) which is right down the road from Universal Studios and Disney World. Internships galore!

2 College Sophomore

Parking: Permit costs are a bit much considering parking is usually sparse

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: There is always something to do at UCF, whether it's at an off-campus bar, a club, or a restaurant. Also, we have Disney and Universal on the other side of town

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Off-Campus Housing at UCF is a mixed bag. There are some definite misses, but then you have some good ones (Village at Science Drive)

3 College Junior

Parking: Haven't gone to the school yet but visitor parking sucks

4 College Sophomore

Academics: You will get out of UCF exactly what you put in, if you just want to skate by not doing much work and sliding under the radar then you can do that but if you want to get the best education possible and really set yourself up for the best possible life after college, UCF has all the resources you need.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: The Criminal Justice major isn't hard in the ways of course load and difficulty but the professors are really interested and passionate in their fields so they make it great!

5 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: There is plenty to eat on campus both with meal plan options and just regular dining.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
