Off-Campus Housing: I lived off campus after my freshman year, which turned into a very lucrative decision. Each year I got a little further away from campus however all of the housing that I had lived in had buses that ran to the school from early morning classes to night classes. It is easy to find an apartment because of the ever expansion of new campus housing that is going up around the main campus. Overall, I believe the experience of my first year living on campus was great because I was there for everything within walking distance, however looking back monetarily it is a much better option to live off campus.

Academics: BSN/MSN in Nursing. UCF has one of the best programs in the state. Being a graduate of this program will impress employers. I will be a well trained Nurse when I graduate.

3 College Senior

Diversity: The students who apply and get accepted are diverse and a wide range of nationalities are represented. So far it seems that everyone tolerates everyone else. I supose at some point some group will be offended by another groups actions or practices but hopefully UCF will not pick sides and will tell the whiners to accept the others as they themselves are accepted.

Health & Safety: If you have a night class and you call for an escort to your car, they will be there. Usually they patrol the lots in the evenings.

Parking: The campus is HUGE! There are parking lots and you need a parking permit but finding a spot is a problem. Always add 30 - 45 minutes to your time to get to class so you can find a space and then hike to wherever your class is. Walking, buses and bikes are the best way to get around.

Campus Dining: Food on campus is good. Market place isn't amazing but it does its job.

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There are many places you can choose from. Everywhere I have been they had great service and food was delicious. Waterford has a lot of restaurants that are great.

5 College Sophomore

Facilities: Life on campus is amazing everyone is friendly that works around campus and the campus is beautiful. My favorite is the reflection pond, I like to go there and just enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.

4 College Sophomore

Facilities: My school has a specific minor that allows me to study abroad in my certain field of study. I hope to utilize this opportunity. I want to travel the world so this makes my college experience that much better.

4 College Junior

Majors: UCF offers an array of majors as well as internships through departments of your major. Always consult your advisor when considering internships unless you have already developed connections with people in your field who have available internships. Keep in mind, certain internships have specific academic requirements as well as dress codes. Some can be as simple as filling papers and monitoring a desk to on hand involvement with a company CEO or doctor. Plan accordingly and make sure that you have enough time to commit to the internship of choice.

Weather: It's Florida. There's bound to be rainy days or tropical storm weather due to hurricane seasons but luckily UCF Alerts gives out advance warnings for these so that students and faculty can take shelter when necessary until the storm dies down.

3 College Junior

Computers: The computers are fairly up to date in certain buildings but you can find some older computers in the library and although they may be slow sometimes, they still get most tasks done. Plus you can rent out a laptop or IPad is necessary.

3 College Junior

Parking: Although there are different types of permits to purchase for students, especially those commuting or living in specific housing, parking is first come first serve. Certain areas fill up quickly in the morning and lunch hours so sometimes it can be a hassle finding close parking spots to your class's building.

4 College Sophomore

Facilities: The University is always building new things to accommodate the students, from new dorms to new class buildings. They are making more space for more students to live on campus and class buildings for education, when building these facilities they are aware of the amount of students around and are careful and they work at a fast pace. The school also provides a pool, a huge gym, tennis courts, volleyball almost anything you can think of that the students may use and enjoy.

Parking: My first year at the university I did not have a car but many of my friends did so I am aware of the parking situation. UCF is one of largest schools and therefore there is not enough parking to accommodate to the amount of students during the fall and spring semester. The area of dorms that I had lived in were under construction so there was limited parking if you were able to find a spot in the dorm parking lot you were lucky if not you had to park down the street in a dirt lot next the woods and it was a far walk that was scary especially at night. To resolve that situation they are building a new parking garage next to the dorms that is good for all the students.

Off-Campus Dining: I frequently eat off campus to change from eating the same meals. There are a variety of different restaurants in close proximity to campus so it is not a burden to go. They have from fast food such as McDonald’s to sit down restaurants like Bahama Breeze. When you walk the campus there are sometimes students handing out little booklets of coupons for students that is very helpful because it gives you discounts to numerous food places and also convenience stores. I enjoy the restaurants around campus because there is always something new to try

Health & Safety: I gave the safety at the University of Central Florida an A. They take precautions for the simplest of threats for example a bag left alone in an area to long. Campus police will close a good portion of the area to keep the students safe in case it is an actual threat to the school. The safety of the students is the number one priority of the school and wants us to feel comfortable and safe. The Health services are also excellent, when you are ill the nurses and doctors attend you and give you prescriptions and answer any of your questions. I have never felt unsafe on campus because our police do a good job making everything secure and comfortable.

Facilities: I adore my campus life. UCF has the all new Knights Plaza, with restaurants and the Arena, which hosts sporting events, concerts, even Cirque du Soleil performances! The Health and Wellness center is new, complete with weights, cardio, an indoor track, and nutritionists and personal trainers, as well as an Olympic sized pool. The Student Union is always hosting guest speakers and awareness events, and at the Office of Student Involvement you can find over 500 organizations to get involved in.

4 College Sophomore

Facilities: UCF is full of facilities to help students gain any and all necessary experience in their field from volunteering to paid internships to research, such as the Office of Pre-Professional Advising, Career Services and the University Writing Center. Just next door to the University is Research Park, offering research opportunities to almost every major. Campus life is also well developed, with concerts and events almost every week, sports played year round, and a growing Greek Life!

4 College Sophomore

Academics: I'm very satisfied with the Biology department in the College of Sciences so far. All the professors have extensive research experience, and offer research opportunities to all their students. The biology department uses the on-campus arboretum as part of their instruction. The Office of Pre-Professional Advising and Career Services also work closely with the college of sciences to help each and every student get the experience they need to reach their goals.

5 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: UCF has an amazing atmosphere. The area around campus is beautifully kept, with an outdoor recreation area complete with a lake. The gym offers outdoor adventure trips on a monthly basis. Shopping is fantastic, with major malls within driving distance. Disney World, Universal Studios and Sea World are only twenty minutes away. Cultural events are a norm, because of the amazingly diverse population.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: I came to UCF for the Biology Program! The Pre-Med track is well prepared, and there are many opportunities available to the students in terms of research and experience. However, classes are sometimes large to a fault, but the SARC and Supplemental Instruction programs help students get clarification that they otherwise would not have been able to receive. Professors are almost always available during their office hours, and the advising staff are lovely! Workload is manageable, and there are numerous study areas (All Knights Study 1 and 2, Technology commons and the library) that offer resources to help with the workload.

2 College Junior

Parking: Parking at UCF can be a serious pain. It's always impossible to find a parking spot except maybe on the 4th floor of a garage at the beginning of the semesters. I live 5 minutes away but always leave 30 minutes before my class to make sure I have time to find a parking spot. Also, the ticketing can be ridiculous.

4 Recent Alumnus

Weather: It's central Florida so the majority of the time, the weather is very good. Summer months consist of a lot of rain. Winter is very bearable and spring is nice too.

3 Recent Alumnus

Campus Dining: The places to eat on campus are a nice variety. There are definitely some places that can be taken out...like Burger King...not many people eat there. This is a "Go Green" generation.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
