Transportation: The transportation is good around UCF. There is a UCF bus that goes around a few miles radius of the school, stopping at many of the student housing apartments. The Orlando public busses also run in and around the area.

Off-Campus Housing: I live off campus but outside of the student housing range. There are not enough dorms on campus and are very expensive. The student housing around the campus seems to draw in a lot of trouble, drugs, robberies, and rapes. It is not hard to journey a few miles farther into areas where there seems to be a good mix of students and non-students. The prices are average for Florida. In this case you have an unfurnished apartment and are not on the UCF bus route so you need to have reliable transportation. This also means you have to drive in through bad traffic, park in crowed parking garages, and pay for expensive parking permits. This is a real issue at UCF.

Computers: Never had trouble on the things I've done but I live off campus and use the computer at home most often. On campus I use my tablet and cell phone to do more minor things. It works well on most occasions.

3 College Senior

Diversity: Many different races and religions are represented in the UCF community and the surrounding neighborhood. All seems to mesh well in my opinion.

Health & Safety: Since UCF is such a big campus, I call it a city. Police are always on campus, meaning they have their own building and everything. They will escort you to your car if you don't feel safe, especially if you're a woman taking night classes. They respond within 90 seconds when they're called or when a button is pushed on the poles setup throughout campus. The police were very quick when responding to the incident that happened with a student on campus. If they had responded a minute or two later the situation would have had a completely different outcome. I feel secure on campus knowing there is always going to be someone there to help if need be.

Local Atmosphere: Living in Orlando the greatest attractions are obviously at the theme parks. They're a great way to spend the day! Since I do not care for the beach; Water parks are awesome on a hot day! There are so many places to shop for every type of style, there is ALWAYS something to eat while out. I love it here.

Facilities: The amount of help I receive on starting a clear, direct path to my career is incredible, Being a biomedical science major this is very important. I don't feel like I have to do this on my own!

5 College Junior

Diversity: The University of Central Florida is extremely diverse, the students seem very welcoming and non judgmental. There are students from all types of economic, religious, and racial backgrounds but somehow every student can meet other students who will enrich their college experience and help them see the world in a new way.

Health & Safety: I have had only positive experiences at the University of Central Florida. The campus police officers are more than helpful but are also able to maintain a secure environment to learn. These officers are never overbearing and manifest a professional attitude.

Scholarships: Have difficulty finding some since I'm just starting.

College Sophomore

Greek Life: Don't know yet. I'm transferring in the Fall 2013.

Weather: It's florida. The weather is nice, but I hate it when it rains a lot.

Parking: I have not yet encounter a problem, but it may be because is summer. However, I have heard it is a nightmare on fall and spring.

Majors: I think the most difficulty about my admission was knowing how to start and where to go after applying. After applying everything became very easy and smooth. You have to network with the school in order to get where you need to go. But my overall experience wasn't so bad at all.

3 College Junior

Majors: I haven't had an internship. But I will need one toward the end of my senior year. I believe a internship is a great opportunity because it haves you more hands on expirence on how things will be when you become in that profession. When your a student studying and talked to about your career, it's not the same as when you have an hands on expirences. That's how people learn better.

4 College Junior

Majors: I am very happy with my program of study. If I have any questions or concerns they will direct me the right way. I couldn't be any more happy with my choose. My career goal is to work my way up the ladder to being the best probation officer there is in the state of Florida. Once I graduate with my BA in criminal justice, I don't think I will have any problems in finding a job in my field.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I feel very safe at the University of Central Florida.

Off-Campus Housing: It's definitely better to live on campus, as I believe it's cheaper anyway, and you're closer to your classes. However, if you enjoy events off-campus more instead, it might benefit to live off-campus.

Local Atmosphere: Orlando is one of the busiest cities in the nation. There is never not anything to do - concerts, exhibits, museums, conventions, there's really something for everyone no matter what you like to do. I am highly considering moving here permanently after I graduate.

Campus Housing: There are over 500 student organisations to get involved with so it's nearly impossible to not meet new people. The University of Central Florida has the arena and hosts many fun events to attend as well.

Academics: Throughout my time at UCF I have found its academic services to be great. The campus is pretty and is convenient to navigate. The professors that I have encountered thus far have been great. Many of them have challenged me to do better and I am grateful for that. In Psychology, the workload really depends on how many classes you are taking. Fewer classes will be easier to manage, but for the last two years I have been taking about five classes minimum per semester. There are plenty of places to study on campus, such as the library, the Student Union, or the All Knight Study, which is open 24 hours. I prefer to study at my apartment during finals though because the on-campus locations get a bit crowded.

Majors: I switched my major after two years from Studio Art to Psychology. Studio Art was a difficult program to get into. You must complete about 6 classes that are pretty intense, and then pass a portfolio review to be officially admitted into the program. It was after completing all of this that I realized I wanted to do Art Therapy, which entails psychology as well. To get into Psychology I just applied to change my major and was accepted. I love the Psychology program at UCF because it is very flexible to work with.

Majors: At the University of Central Florida, students are offered a variety of majors to choose from. Once you can get past the general education program, you are allowed to focus on classes that interest you. In the Psychology program I have been offered numerous interesting classes that will help to further my future career. The workload is tough but manageable for upper-level classes. We are also offered research and internship opportunities for experience and sometimes even for a couple credits. I have thoroughly enjoyed my program and I feel it has challenged me to grow as a student and as a person who strives to make an impact in the world.

5 Recent Alumnus

Majors: As a Psychology major/Studio art minor, I am very happy with the program that I have chosen. If I had to do it over again, I would probably attend a university where I could be an Art Therapy major. My goal is to get my Master's in Art therapy and then begin work as an art therapist in Tampa, Florida. Since it is a growing field, Tampa does not have very many Art Therapy positions yet, so I'm a bit worried about finding one close to home. My dream would be to open up a practice with my sister, who is studying occupational therapy.

Local Atmosphere: There are so many dining options for healthy eaters! :)

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
