Facilities: UCF is not different from most colleges. Like most colleges, it contains the same kind of courses, students, and advocacy programs.

Facilities: UCF's facilities are state-of-the-art, overall. The student union is always lively, innovative, and providing the services we all need. Most of UCF's computers are fairly up-to-date. The campus has plenty of green spaces for students (especially me) to just relax and get away from it all. The UCF arena is always hosting an event whether it's a game, a concert, or a comedy act. And Volunteer UCF is always looking for ways to get students to participate in the outside world and think outside themselves.

Guys & Girls: Of course, appearance is subjective, but I would say that UCF's students and staff look okay overall. UCF's alumni seems to be interested in a wide variety of subjects ranging from engineering to nursing to business administration. Students are always looking for ways to get involved, of which my favorite is Volunteer UCF, for which I have completed nearly 70 hours right now as I am writing this. And relationships are inevitable. It seems as though there is one in every corner. UCF is strongly advocating for LGBTs to be not only tolerated, but loved.

Campus Dining: UCF provides a variety of dining services. It's cafeteria (Kinghtro's) hires only top-quality chefs and staff, its food contains fresh ingredients and is prepared with all necessary cautions, and the tables and floors are usually clean. UCF also features a wide variety of popular food joints such as Subway, Asian Chao, Qdoba, and Jimmy John's.

Transportation: When I lived in housing just off campus, I had a car. There was a shuttle that ran fairly regularly to the campus that I used for classes, but to go grocery shopping or to get to off campus restaurants or see the city, the car was pretty necessary.

Campus Housing: I lived in several areas of on-campus housing and had friends who lived in the others. The Towers are currently the best and of course the most expensive. They just opened new housing across the street from UCF which is also nice and pricey. The residence halls are small so don't think you'll be having your friends spend the night there without being all up in your roommate's personal space - you'll have to try the UCF apartments if you want your own room.

It's SO convenient to be able to roll out of bed and run to class, however UCF is humongous, so your class could still be a 15 minute run away, depending on where you live on campus and what your major is.

Drug Safety: Really, the drinking happens in off-campus housing, usually in the cheaper complexes where there's less supervision [and less security, so put trackers on your laptops and stereos]. There are plenty of students who are all for 'legalizing marijuana'; they have a club, and you can kind of guess they probably partake regardless of the law. Really, UCF has so many extracurriculars, most people just join those to fulfill social needs. There's a club for almost anything you can think of, and they try to stay involved in academics at times just so it will look good on resumes; for that reason they don't typically have issues with members doing drugs or getting drunk. I hear even the sororities and frats are strict on their drinking policies.

4 Recent Alumnus

Campus Strictness: Some may have seen that recently there was almost a shooting at the on-campus student housing back in March. UCF is such a large school that one might think students will simply fly under the radar, however security has been more present and UCF has strengthened its arm against breaches of policy. I lived in on-campus house before the event that put UCF on CNN, and even then there were eyes on all students. Alcohol was strictly prohibited due to the fact that there freshman who were underage who would have access if others brought it. If you want to drink, you'll have to do it somewhere else because dorm rooms get surprise check ups and if they smell alcohol you're dead in the water, so-to-speak.

Also, NEVER park without a pass; UCF PD will nail your car with a ticket before you have a chance to take the key out of the ignition. They're notorious for giving parking tickets. The price isn't terrible compared to other schools but just buy a parking permit, or ride the free shuttles.

Weather: Can be really hot when you don't want it to be and can feel uncomfortable if you are not use to it.

2 College Senior

Local Atmosphere: The plus side is there are a lot of great attractions here like Disney and Universal studios. The downside is the traffic from the tourists and the crime rate here. There have been several cases where people almost got mugged and there have been cars broken into while at school. It's just not safe.

Athletics: Just joined. Haven't participated in the athletics.

Guys & Girls: There are a variety of guy's and girls here. From the athletic jock, to the geeks. People are generally welcoming to each other.

Facilities: Student life at UCF is amazing. The students get so pumped for all types of events and there is always something going on so it's never a dull moment. Everything from the food court to the study spots are so convenient. The lines for the food are normally short and have a lot of variety. The gym is massive and have every machine you can think of. There are also many different chill spots and study spots too. I love how I have an option in being able to study with friends in the first floor or go to the last floor and study on my own in a nice quiet spot. UCF is such a great school and has everything you can want in a university.

Health & Safety: UCF has its own police department. I always feel safe and the school is filled with emergency polls where if you ever feel unsafe, you just click the button and security come immediately.

Facilities: UCF has a lot of great qualities as a University. It's huge and is always filled with school spirit. There are so many clubs to chose from and has so many diverse students. The student government is great and the faculty and staff have been pretty good so far. I'm a transfer and so far I'm having a blast here! I'm a Psychology major and UCF give students a lot of opportunities with internships and doing research. UCF is the best choice I've made thus far.

Athletics: As our school grows, our athletics grow as well. On one end of the campus corrals most of the varsity sport members and to be in contact with them is awesome. I enjoy the opportunity to wish them luck on their future game. The fan support is growing quickly as we filled the stadium to capacity vs. South Carolina for football. other than varsity sports, clubs and intramurals are always something for the students who want to play something they always loved.

Computers: The campus locations that hold computers available to students make life much easier. There is always a place to go and study. Finding an open computer is not hard at all, there are plenty of computers for the people that need one. It makes the necessity of having a laptop not so important. Lastly, the WiFi around campus also makes life easier for people with phones and laptops. It reaches many points of the campus.

Majors: The availability of internships around UCF is great. For the internship that I want to pursue, Lockheed Martin requires a full time schedule in school and to work about 10 plus hours a week. At first, my responsibilities would include some grunt work like simple and tedious paper work. This is most likely a paid internship but not the reason for my interest. I hope to better myself anyway possible.

Weather: Being in Florida, the weather is nice most of the time. The sunshine makes the walks to class enjoyable and allows other students to be outside to congregate and act out their favorite hobbies. The only exceptions are for rainy season when it rains quite a bit. Constant tropical storms make raincoats and umbrellas necessary often.

Scholarships: I receive a bright futures scholarship for my grades I kept up in high school. Other than that I do not qualify for a grant even though I am independent and living on my own. I do not meet the requirements for the "dependent" student.

Academics: Being in the school of business at UCF I am able to stay home to watch my lectures and even go back in the semester to watch them again. It is a great convenience for me as I am busy working a lot. They provide great lectures to watch and keep me busy with various assignments to stay on top of what is going on.

Off-Campus Dining: Central Florida is loaded with restaurants. It is the prime location to have a restaurant because of the different groups of people coming in and out of the college. They are normally the chained restaurants you can find anywhere but that is what makes it convenient for college kids.

Computers: There are plenty of labs you can go to for computers. They make it suitable for everyone because they have mac computers, dell, hp, and anything a student needs.

UCF is growing by leaps and bounds. The students love to hang out, and they all know how to have a good time. There’s so much to do and there’s something for everyone. Do you really need any more reasons to go to college in Florida?

Orlando is an exciting city with tons of attractions and activities available to all. In many ways, going to school at UCF resembles a four-year vacation (Disney on Sunday, classes on Monday!). Downtown Orlando on a Friday night can, at times, seem like Mardi Gras, and City Walk on a Saturday night isn’t to be missed. Also, Floridians are welcoming and friendly and most students at UCF make friends quickly and easily. Friendly faces and sunny skies, what more could a college student ask for? The stellar academics, up-and-coming sports teams, and state-of-the-art facilities are reason enough to spend the next four years of your life at UCF; the city of Orlando is just one big fringe benefit. Come join us!
