UCSB stays up-to-date with its technology, especially the computers. UCSB has several computer labs scattered around campus that have Macs and PCs available for student use as well as for printing. If you’re merely trying to check your email or print a paper, any of the labs will suffice, with Kerr and Phelps halls having the biggest labs. Davidson Library and the Student Resource Building (SRB) also offer computers to students for a limited time if you don’t own a computer or forgot one at home.
The labs are located throughout campus and can be a hassle for people not wanting to leave their dorm; however, the dorms offer Ethernet connections, and the several dorms and University buildings are equipped with Wi-Fi. While using the campus computer labs is a feasible option, many students agree that bringing your own laptop is the best option. Since the campus has Wi-Fi, you can connect online using your student ID number and study—or Facebook.
