Nightlife: I did it all and I can say that you are it totally depends on who you live with. If your RA is never around, you can probably drink and not get written up. If you have a designated driver you can drink downtown. If your friends are organized you can plan clubbing in LA. If you are part of greek life, you'll have exclusive parties and have kickbacks. The one thing you should do is mess with Riverside PD. They don't like college students and will do everything in their power to shutdown your party. I've met people who have 4,000 tickets for hosting a party. People who have gotten kicked out of school. Rumor has the FBI was notified about a club on campus when police found a minor (student taking a summer class) at a party. The City of Riverside wanted to prosecute them for "contributing for juvenile delinquency." Hosting a party is extremely stressful and I don't recommend it. Sometimes the best parties are at apartments because security gets called instead of police. School concerts are probably the best time to drink.

Nightlife: Some find expelling their insides to be a positive student experience.

Nightlife: There really isn't much to do unless you have a car and are willing to drive out somewhere. People are pretty dependent on Greek life or smaller kick backs. So Cal public transportation is spotty.

Nightlife: school is near a few clubs and hookah lounges. average cost. best parties are the ones off-campus but you need to know people or join school organizations like fraternities or sororities. be social and make friends and you'll know whats up.

Nightlife: I do not go out and party at all. I can not judge the nightlife.

The campus party scene usually takes place at the end of the week and is mainly controlled by the fraternities and sororities, though it's not unheard of for a bash to be thrown in the dorms or someone's house. Locally, the bars and clubs are readily close at hand, especially for those who have a car. That is not to say that walking or cycling is out of the question, but the main areas of nightlife are few and far between, and can make for a rather long trek. It is recommended to travel in groups when touring the bars and clubs, not only to have a designated driver, but certain areas can be a bit unsavory. Underage students typically are restricted to shopping centers and movie theaters if they are unable to resist the temptation to drink with older student friends.

Outside of Riverside, weekend fun can be found in the relatively nearby Los Angeles, Orange County, or even to San Diego. The beaches and mountains are also easily accessible for the more adventurous party-goer or thrill-seeker.
