Parking is available on campus at UCM, but because of the growing student body and number of commuters, it is getting more difficult to find a spot. It is best to sign up for a permit as soon as possible to have a guaranteed spot. Students who don’t have a permit will have to walk a little farther to get to their classes or to the library. Still, all the parking lots are in close proximity of each other, meaning one does not have to spend time driving all over campus just to find a spot. However, there are time limits on guest parking, which some students think are too short.

Additionally, cops can be particularly strict about where students park, fining students for going past the time limit and/or parking in a restricted area. On-campus residents who do not have on-campus permits have to park at the local community college, which is a few miles away from campus. Thus, those students have to rely on the school bus system to commute between the parking lot and campus. However, on the weekends, on-campus parking is free for everyone.

Getting a Parking Permit
It is easier to get a parking permit if you are not a freshman. There is a restricted number of parking spaces for freshmen, which will only be given to those who require special accommodations, perhaps due to health. Students pay for these permits using the online billing system. The best time to apply is well before the start of the school year (i.e., during the summer).
