Guys & Girls: Some people are mean; some are very kind.

4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Most people here are fairly open and friendly and there is a wide variety of personalities. I've never had any issues with other people.

4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: UCLA has a lot of diversity, and you can find all sorts of people wandering campus. There really isn't one clear way to define the students of the school.

5 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: The diversity is great. Clothing is an essential part of campus students' self-expressionism. A lot of girls wear Pinterest-style clothing (boho look) or LA-casual, but not all. Winter coats are nonexistent, as the SoCal knows no real weather (typically 70 - 80 degrees and sunny). Guys usually sport tanks or button-downs and shorts. The dress is very trendy, although I'm no expert since I don't exactly know what other students at other college campuses typically wear on a day-to-day basis. Guys and girls usually meet most frequently through living situations, classes, or clubs (both the academic organization one and the party one).

Despite rumors of superficialness and the proximity of Hollywood, guys and girls at UCLA are a down-to-earth and diverse bunch. There really is no average Bruin—students encompass a range of backgrounds, and most want to learn about each others'. Though separation between larger social cliques like the Greek system or minority groups is common, spontaneous chit-chat and phone number exchanges between guys and girls occur often. There are more attractive girls than guys at UCLA, but nobody can really complain due to the sheer number of romantic interests at a school with 25,000 undergrads.

Being in Southern California certainly boosts UCLA’s grades for hotness. Students take care of themselves and are always tan and groomed. The gym is the place to see and be seen—Bruins of both sexes don't mess around when it comes to treadmills. When guy-to-girl interaction goes beyond the ever-prominent party hookup, it's usually in the form of an LA café date or Westwood movie outing. Many students are eager to enter relationships, and many do.

Social Scene
Although UCLA prides itself on its diversity and social students, it should be noted that students are really only outgoing within their respective groupings-social circle, major, or Greek house. However, courtesy and general friendliness are traits of almost all Bruins.
Hookups or Relationships?
At a school this big, it's not hard to find someone with the same romantic goals as yours, and you can find both the carousing hook-up seekers and serious mate-finders here. Plenty of students merely hook up on weekends, while others settle down into quite serious relationships, usually with fellow Bruins and occasionally with significant others from neighboring schools.
Dress Code
The sizzling California sunshine and mild winters call for casual clothes to class. T-shirts, flip-flops, jeans, and workout gear are the norm-anything more might get stares. However, even though the red carpet is a few miles down Sunset, UCLA students sometimes dress like stars to go out. Guys don jeans and nice shirts, while girls rock heels, designer tops, and mini (we're talking mini) skirts. However, this is SoCal and casualness is always accepted-nobody's snubbed for their attire.
