5 College Freshman

Drug Safety: They talk a lot about how to say safe and the effects. People frequently use drugs and alcohol here, but they are aware of everything.

2 College Freshman

Academics: You have great, unique, classes, but the professors are usually terrible. You'll fail courses and they'll curve it so high that you do average.

5 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: It is awesome and has public transportation to and from campus.

4 College Freshman

Nightlife: There are a lot of different kinds of parties going on around here, especially since there's a Greek Row. Los Angeles has a lot of nightclubs around too.

5 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: Westwood and the surrounding area of Los Angeles has incredible dining. Everything from late night munchies coming back from the bar to five star restaurants.

5 College Senior

Local Atmosphere: The best food, shopping, entertainment in the world. Everything you could ever want is at your fingertips.

4 College Senior

Scholarships: I received the blue and gold plan. It is need based not merit based. It covered all of my tuition. I simply had to pay for fees.

Weather: It's Los Angeles California. The weather is always perfect. You'll rarely need anything more than a light sweater. Most days flip flops and tanks will do just fine.

Transportation: Aside from the campus shuttle, which operates all over campus, as well as south into the trendy Westwood district, UCLA is also a hub of a variety of public transportation. Los Angeles Metro buses are constantly running in and out of campus. The same is true with Culver City buses and Santa Monica buses. The Flyaway bus offers $10 rides to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) every hour on the hour!

Guys & Girls: UCLA is a big school, with all sorts of people. Smart and ditzy, jocks and nerds, the population is quite diverse due to its size. There are a bunch of Asians like me, if you're into them. I hope somebody is ;)

2 College Freshman

Scholarships: I didn't receive much financial aid, only a student loan. The only scholarship I received was specific to my major: jazz studies.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Westwood has a lot of awesome places to eat and a good variety of choices

4 College Junior

Majors: Personally, I am having trouble knowing what career I wish to have because there's just so much one can do with anthropology. I went into this major knowing that I liked the subject major and really didn't think too much about the career aspect. That isn't to say that I reject my choice. Many people I know who have my same major know exactly what they want to do. College is about growing and learning more about yourself so I wouldn't really say there's a massive rush in finding out what you want to do with the rest of your life.

Athletics: Because of UCLA's rivalry with USC, there is no shortage of school spirit when it comes to sports. Football is no joke and our team is amazing. If you don't buy a DEN pass, you're typically the odd man out. Along with that, we have a large diversity of sports club that are just as competitive.

4 College Junior

Computers: I've only used the computers a few times but the internet was quick. There's a small computer lab for each dorm area and there's always room. In the Young Research Library, you're allowed to check out Macs for about 2 hours. You can renew your time as well from online. The cool thing is, you can take the laptop anywhere, as long as you bring it back within the time limit.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: If I could do it all over again, I most definitely would. I love UCLA!! I have no worries finding a job after graduation because our Career Center is ranked in the Top 10 in the nation.

Campus Strictness: Overall, the administration is pretty lenient and trusts the student body. Don't worry about them being on your case. This is UCLA. If you had the qualifications to gain admission here, you're in good shape. You're an adult so you're treated like one.

Majors: The academic programs at UCLA are world-class, and taught by top-notch faculty in the field. Trust me, it doesn't get better than this. Groundbreaking research is conducted here everyday and so there are endless ways to get involved in academic pursuits. The depth and breadth of what UCLA offers to its students is very high quality and keeps students on their toes, engaged, and passionate.

Health & Safety: I feel pretty safe living in the dorms at UCLA. I hear stories of occasional thefts though but I believe that happens in every college campus.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Convenience of Housing – Housing is pretty great, and everything is very easy and convenient for the people that live in the dorms. There are laundry rooms, workout rooms, and the dining halls are extremely close to the dorms. There is also a cleaning service, so the only thing you need to do to to keep the room neat is to vacuum and take out the trash.

Weather: The weather is amazing! Always pretty hot, and the pools here are always crowded with people trying to get a tan. It obviously rains a bit during winter, but it's mostly great California weather.

5 College Freshman

Academics: Anderson school of management offers amazing opportunities for those who would like to get an MBA. The GAP program offers a unique opportunity to enhance your skills in a global setting

5 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Los Angeles is a great city. It's a cultural hub. Regardless of what you prefer you can find something to do. It's close to amazing museums, the beach and great nightlife.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: A lot of students go watch the games on campus. The most popular ones are basketball and american football. There are buses that take you to the UCLA Rosebowl football stadium.

Smack dab in the middle of Los Angeles and on the list of America's top colleges, UCLA is a school for those who want to have a blast while focusing on schoolwork. Although course registration is a battle, classes are crowded, and the registrar is impersonal, students praise the wisdom of their professors and feel that a UCLA degree will open major doors in the job market. The quarter system moves fast and tests tend to sneak up stealthily, but this allows for more experimentation when choosing courses and far less boredom. With more than 100 majors to choose from, the campus is bustling with students of all ideologies, races, and academic interests, making rousing discussions an everyday experience.

One of the nation's few top-notch universities that isn't private, UCLA is a place for those who want to learn more than a textbook contains. There’s pressure to shine socially and academically among the approximately 25,000 high-achieving Bruin undergrads, but there are plenty of campus organizations that give students a go-to friend group in the midst of the giant student body. However, it's up to the students to scout out and take advantage of all opportunities because nothing is handed to UCLA students—they must learn to navigate around red tape, persist through budget cuts, find parking and housing in Westwood's winding streets, and steer toward success. And how do they celebrate their successes? Parties! Whether through the semi-dominant Greek system or at a laid-back dorm gathering, UCLA students know how to put the books aside for a night. Overall, Bruins play nearly as hard as they work, making UCLA one of the most well-rounded schools imaginable.
