3 College Freshman

Weather: It really depends on what months you're in Calgary. Winters are long and cold.

4 College Freshman

Nightlife: ThursDen. Every Thursday is students night and the line up is always ridiculous. About half are generally first years living in res though.

3 College Freshman

Computers: There are multiple updated computer labs throughout the school, making it easier if you don't have a laptop. However, whether you're on your own computer or the school's the wi-fi connection definitely leaves something to be desired.

4 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: I love Calgary. Although the bus system isn't always the most reliable, there are tons of clubs and bars just a train ride away. It's pretty easy to get to downtown from campus because of this. If you go searching, you can find some great views around campus (look around the Children's Hospital).

4 College Freshman

Diversity: There are clubs/social groups for almost every minority on campus. It's really easy to find people from any culture or religion around. There are multiple political groups, and even a club for the lgbt community. UofC embraces diversity.

3 College Freshman

Academics: I find the profs at UofC are really hit or miss. I've been lucky and had mainly amazing profs who show a passion for their subject field. However, with some it's really hard to focus on lectures and understand what their trying to communicate.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: There had been issues of sexual assault during the earlier months of the year. Since then, campus security has become noticeably more present and visible around campus and I feel quite a bit safer now. It is extremely easy to call for security to walk you around when you're alone at night.

Local Atmosphere: The city of Calgary is great, but atmosphere at school is really miserable

1 College Freshman

Greek Life: Honestly I haven't really heard of any Greek life. I believe there are some that you can sign up for but nobody really does. It is not a big thing at the school. It is usually other clubs that put on events and have parties.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: There are so many different clubs that you can join. Nothing like some of the other schools that I looked at. They even have a ski club that puts on trips of students to go and have a weekend away. Its the perfect time to relax and party and meet new people.

3 College Freshman

Academics: Business is a very difficult course load for me to manage. I feel like I have an unbelievable amount of work for a single person to manage. The professors are sometimes very helpful and most do not speak english and could care less about the marks that you are receiving in their class.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are so many restaurants around the city, and having the LRT right by the university makes it very easy to go and have an amazing dinner. There are different price ranges all around! My favorite place is Posto pizza downtown, it is a little pricy, but amazing pizza and food overall.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: I have never gotten into trouble on campus before. But in residence there is a strict no drinking games rule to lessen bing drinking. Also they are very aware of rape and make it a well know topic around campus to stop it from occurring.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: There are so many different types of people on campus and so many different clubs for everything that you might be interested in. Everyone is welcome here there is a place for everyone.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: I don't know too much about it, which says enough about it in its lack of effect

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: I'm not really involved so this review will be misinformed, but from my experience we're pretty reputable when it comes to athletics

1 College Freshman

Weather: Calgary is very cold. It is often around -20 to -30 (degrees Celsius) in the winter which is brutally cold. However, all the buildings at University of Calgary are connected underground so you never need to go outside.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: We've recently gotten an entire new library which is really nice. The athletic center is huge, and there are pools, skating rinks, and tracks around the campus. The Den is a popular on campus bar if you are into the drinking scene.

1 College Freshman

Parking: Parking is very expensive at the university itself, and as well throughout the entire city. A parking pass for two semesters will cost you more than a thousand dollars.

4 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Calgary is a great city and it's very easy to navigate. The Calgary Stampede is internationally recognized, and is fun for everyone who goes. The legal drinking age is 18 which is nice, and there are many fun clubs and bars. Parking throughout the entire city though is extremely expensive which would probably be the biggest negative.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: lots of options can get a wee bit expensive but the train is right there therefore you can go downtown which has millions of options

2 College Sophomore

Parking: Depends - usually there is a spot to park it is just extremely expensive if you want to park close to the campus

4 College Sophomore

Academics: I am in the linguistics program, there is lots of extracurricular stuff you can do and there are a number of research opportunities you can get involved with

4 College Sophomore

Academics: really good professors and has lots of unique programs

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: Housing varies, sone are more expensive than others. It really depends on what the student is looking for.
