College Sophomore

Parking: I unfortunately have never really experienced trying to park on campus. But friends have told me that spots can be difficult to find, but parking is reasonable, but only lasts at most two hours. Try not to push your luck: we have constant security and police officers on campus.

Parking: Very expensive on and off campus

1 College Sophomore

Parking: Very difficult to find any free parking; always end up paying for it and it isn't exactly affordable if you were to take your car to school daily.

Parking: Most People Don't Have Cars – Since most people don't have cars since everyone uses public transportation since it's so great, parking really isn't an issue.

Parking: Parking at UBC everyday of a month will cost you a lot. It is unrealistic to buy an entire day parking ticket just so you can attend classes that are far apart.

The rule of thumb with parking at UBC is simple: Do not park where you are not supposed to. Both campus security and RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) constantly patrol the campus, making it almost impossible for students to get away with illegal parking. Paying that extra C$10 can save you from a fine of C$100 (or more). Students with cars can apply for student parking for an annual fee. Parking slots are given on a first-come, first-served basis, but are not too hard to get. However, parking slots do run out, so don't wait too long to apply. Students find that looking for a parking space right outside of campus is sometimes a more affordable option if they do not have a regular parking spot, as the parking rates out of campus are significantly lower. Students can park their cars outside of campus and take the bus for the short trip into campus.
