Campus Dining: A lot of options and all over the place. You have a meal plan and flex dollars and can pay in places like Starbucks, Subway, Triple O's, Tim Hortons with flex dollars. There is residence dinning (the cafeteria) as well as a convenience store and other restaurants around that you can pay with your UBC Card. There are also a bunch of options that accept cash.

Campus Dining: There are really two categories of on-campus dining. In rez and out of rez. In rez, the cafe options range from suitably average to shockingly bad. Do not eat the plastic box sushi. It will hurt you. They do have a good selection of french fruits and the pastries, especially the cinnamon buns, are quite good. The prepared food, however, is extremely hit and miss. The late night convenience stores in rez will devour your money with alarming speed.

Out of rez, the dining is actually quite decent. With a good variety of food options in the SUB, including Starbucks, Subway(Which has the most belligerent Subway ladies ever) A&W, Bernouli's Bagels, Blue chip cookies, and The Honor Roll Sushi. There is also a new food truck driving around campus which has excellent hot sandwiches. There are also two Tim Horton's on campus and a liquor licensed Triple O's. There are also the slightly higher end Point Grill and Sage restaurants, and a new "gourmet" pizza shop that just opened up. Overall, if you don't mind a hike, there are very decent dining options.

Campus Dining: There are several different options for dining at UBC Okanagan from Xtreme Pita to the campus pub "The Well". The variety of food is great! There are many different options but if you don't have a meal plan eating on campus everyday can get expensive fast. The Well is open until 2 am where they serve excellent pizza!

2 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: Dining Hall Foods Are Horrible, Other Choices Okay – First thing first, although UBC prizes itself to be a "green campus" and having a lot of organic foods, the foods in the dining hall is almost always horrible and is not worth the buck. Given that other choices on campus include several "cafe" around campus and a few other AMS owned business that caters anywhere from Italian to Japanese food. Some other choices are available at the University Marketplace (not strictly speaking on-campus but it's close enough) that you won't get bored of it. Much greater dining opportunity outside of the university though. Either that or you need to cook for yourself

UBC Food Services generally does a very good job locating dining venues. There is at least one café in every academic building on campus for students to grab coffee and snacks between classes. Restaurants are mostly located at the north half of the campus mostly in the Student Union Building (SUB) or University Marketplace (The Village) with a few dining halls scattered across the campus. Due to UBC's diverse student population, the variety of international cuisine found in dining halls is superb. However, students have questioned the quality of food. If you are going to dining halls at nonpeak hours, don't expect food of spectacular quality; they usually serve leftovers from breakfast or lunch hours. Though, the quality of food can be questionable, Food Services is very strict with the cleanliness of the work environment. There have been no reported cases of food poisoning in purchases from Food Services locations. Food prices can be quite expensive depending on your choice of food. On average, about $7 a meal can keep you full (excluding beverages). Some students can be strategic and save loads of cash by eating according to consistent promotions. Promotions include $1 per slice pizzas every Tuesday at Fresh Slice, two-dollar burger Fridays at the SUB, Groupons from Pita Pit, etc. Students generally feel that dining hall prices are too steep for the quality of food. However, due to first-year resident meal plans being mandatory, the high food prices are easily dismissed by first-year students.
