Campus Strictness: I don't agree with the check ins that are required in the dorms. There's always the stench of marijuana in the elevators but nothing has been done. It just depends on the situation.

Campus Strictness: I like a lenient system so I prefer how the campus is to how it could be if the police force stepped up. However, I'm tired of the amount of drug use. It's obnoxious and the people behind it are not being punished even when they've been caught.

Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Campus strictness at the University is touch and go, but many of the issues that may be prevalent on other campuses are not really a big issue at UALR. The biggest thing that UALR focuses on is academic honesty. Most UALR students are responsible enough to go to class, but students sometimes find themselves having personal problems that prevent them from performing to their optimal abilities. When this happens, some students may resort to other ways to help get their grades back up. Overall, the University is pretty lenient when it comes to situations like personal problems, but when the action becomes excessive, judicial decisions must be made.

The University also tends to be strict about drug- and alcohol-related violations, with reason. Both the University and the housing department have very strong policies against drugs and alcohol. Visitation in the dorms remains a frequent concern. Guests must be signed in and out and must leave by a certain time. When violations arise, RAs usually solve the problem quickly, and many times it is just because the student lost track of time, which is an honest mistake. Overall, the University and housing department are pretty lenient but remain strict on serious matters. It's a happy medium.
