Academic Experience: there is very few scholrships offered they are limited

3 College Sophomore

Academic Flexibility: the offer only a few select openings for most classes i need as a mechanical engineer major

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: my favorite experiences occur mostly within classes that are held in the baldor building and engineering classes

3 College Sophomore

Career Services: i can not say much about the career services because i dont really focus as much on that.

4 College Sophomore

Student Body: easy to get along with everyone most of the time. you will be able to find your group of acceptance

5 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: the school has a brand new library and it has many computers and printers to your availability. and has great wireless access.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: The baldor building is pretty high tech. i really like this part of the campus it is the best part of the school. great for autocad classes with the new computers

4 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: if you can get into the classes that you need to take the experience is good. the curriculm and facilities are of good quality.

2 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: every semester i have the worst time getting into classes that i need to take for my major (mechanical engineering) because thay have so very few number of math and science classes available for each REQUIRED course and have UNLIMITED acess to classes like philosophy and art curriculum. its so bad that it is like they hate engineer majors and dont want and engineer students at the school.

4 College Sophomore

Tuition & Financial Aid: the financial aid offices actually try and work with you on your problems with the university(normaly ones caused by the university). my biggest problem is the fees that go to departments of the school that i have no intrest in ever using

3 College Sophomore

Facilities: the newer facilities are great, other than that most of them are basic or below basic.

3 College Sophomore

Online Courses: they use what they call the blackboard system and it is pretty easy to get the hang of using. it normaly takes a couple of days (2-4) for the teachers to grade them. most of the courses show you your grade book and show what you made on each assignment

Overall Experience: My overall experience has not been a good one. The University of Arkansas- Fort Smith is not the university for someone looking for an amazing college experience. This university is the university for someone that wants to attend college but stay close to home and keep the same friends that they made in high school. When I say that I mean that everyone here knows each other from high school. This university has been a horrid experience but has been an educational one. I know exactly what I don't want in the university I plan to transfer to because of my UAFS attendance.

Academic Flexibility: Class scheduling is fine IF you get it done as soon as possible. Teachers will try to work with you if you show that you are trying in their class.

Facilities: What sets UAFS apart from other colleges and universities is its ability to function as a high school. When I say this I mean it! There are very little campus activities and when they do pop up they're mostly movies. RA's will schedule things for their floors and five people show up and they're mostly the international students. When there are dances people stand up against the wall... literally like the movies. There is minimal night life and a very small social scene. Coming here was one of the worst and best decisions of my life. Worst because I put myself in a horrible situation that I regret everyday I wake up and now I have to go through the transfer process (Which isn't bad in itself.... I'm just saying if I didn't come here I wouldn't have to do it.) Best because it taught me so much about myself as a person. I now know I can get through anything as long as I stay focused. (I say stay focused because I had to stay focused on the fact that I will get out of here as soon as the Spring Semester ends.)

Facilities: I'm mostly on campus for class and going to the gym occasionally. I do like the availability of computer labs and that even during a class, if there's an open seat, most professors will allow extra students to sit in and work on computer based work.

4 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: I like it so far. I am studying Mechanical Engineering so the workload is pretty busy especially since I work too. I feel like it's a good program though. I am learning a lot as I go through.

3 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: There are some pretty good options for degree plans and programs but sometimes the professors are a little hit and miss. There have been a few times that I have had to teach myself a certain subject. There are also a lot of really good professors.

4 College Sophomore

Career Services: I got a lot of help writing a resume and got my current internship through the school's career services department.

4 College Sophomore

Student Body: It's a pretty good mix of students. Most of them seem to be good people.

3 College Sophomore

Tuition & Financial Aid: I'm using the GI Bill so fortunately I'm not paying directly out of pocket or taking loans to pay for school. The school doesn't seem to have a lot of in house options for scholarships and tuition assistance.

3 College Sophomore

Academic Flexibility: After the first few semesters there aren't very many options for classes at different times. Most of the classes are offered only once or twice and this forces me to have to reschedule work or find a different job almost every semester.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: It has been a good experience so far with a few short comings. There have been a few times that I have gotten proffesors that didn't seem to know what they were doing, especially in the math department. There is always some one that I can go talk to about it or seek help from other professors even if I didn't have a class with them at the time. The gym/fitness center is also somewhat lacking.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Going into my first semester, I didn't know a single person. Now, I feel as if I recognize everyone. Before college, I never had a such a tight-knit community within school. Its a wonderful feeling knowing that I have such a strong support group, from both students and professors.

4 College Sophomore

Tuition & Financial Aid: I am an out of state student; however, my school provides border-state tuition. This makes school so much for affordable. Additionally, it allows me to focus on my studies rather than working to pay for school.
