Off-Campus Housing: Tuscaloosa is always adding spaces for student living. Pretty much all provide transportation or are close to bus stops. The university does assist students in finding the best possible living arrangements, either on campus or off.

Off-Campus Housing: I have not lived off campus yet, but I have signed a lease for an apartment. It is one of the cheapest ones off campus and it is $450 a piece for a 4 bed, 2 bath.

Off-Campus Housing: There is no shortage of affordable, wonderful off-campus housing. If you want a condo, there are tons of options. If you want your whole apartment furnished, there are plenty of options. Plenty of houses surrounding campus as well. The competitiveness of off-campus housing means that the apartment complexes are all relatively high-quality and most of them have pools, fitness centers, tanning, etc.

Off-Campus Housing: Tuscaloosa has an abundance of off-campus residencies. They are spread out all over the city, yet the farthest one is roughly a 7-minute drive to campus. The quality is astounding. In all of the ones I've visited, every student has their own bedroom, bathroom, closet and storage space. They all have pools and clubhouses with loads of facilities such as hot tubs, gyms, computer labs, theater rooms, volleyball nets, outdoor basketball courts and one of them even has a golf simulator. The variety and quality of the off-campus residences is another reason why I chose to attend UA.

Off-Campus Housing: Living close to campus is somewhat affordable, but the availability is slim. Most students end up living 20 minutes away from the campus.

Finding off-campus housing is easy. There are many apartment complexes and houses located within walking distance of campus. Most are located right behind the Strip, so students can walk to class and the bars, restaurants, and grocery store. Off-campus housing can be close to the price of living on campus if you look in the right places. However, watch out for companies that try to take advantage of students. Living off campus has its ups and downs. It gives students individual time and more freedom to do whatever they please. However, this freedom costs money. There are many places that have low rent, but it's the utilities that end up costing the most.

The University Downs is a popular apartment complex and is fairly inexpensive, but it's not the closest to campus. Students have to wake up earlier for class since traffic can be hectic, but most don't mind because the freedom makes up for it. The University also owns some apartments that are located next to the stadium. But don't wait too late to find your dream house because the good ones are taken fast in Tuscaloosa. If off-campus living is what you choose, be prepared to leave early for class, unless you live close enough to walk.
