This school is known for its party scene. Students party until the sun comes up. The bars usually close at 2 a.m., but on Fridays, they don't close at all. Don't expect to go home and go to bed once the bars close-the party doesn't end. The bars allow students in as young as 19, but drinking is still prohibited. Fake IDs are popular, but watch out because the police are cracking down. The Strip and downtown offer numerous bars within walking distance of each other. The most popular places are the ones with the best bands, but word travels fast. After the bars close, the house parties open. Loud music and a bunch of cars tell you are in the right place for a party.
Most of the fraternities get bands that are popular among the students. These parties are free, and they're a perfect opportunity to dance and listen to your favorite music. Other organizations throw parties as well. Most house parties are thrown by a specific group or organization. If the party scene isn't for you, then try some of the coffee shops. They usually have live music as well, but at a low-key level. If you are itching to dance, you will have to drive to Birmingham because Tuscaloosa has no dance clubs, but there are always people dancing in the bars.
