Facilities: Unique things that set the University of Alabama apart from other schools is the football team, greek life, availability of clubs, and tutoring services. The football team is out of this world with 14 national championships! The greek life is also huge with many numbers of sororities and fraternities that vary from specific interests. The availability of clubs makes involvement enjoyable. There are fairs that are held on campus promoting each club that students can sign up for. The tutoring services are also available to all students. I personally like using the writing center since I am not as strong on papers.

Scholarships: Easy as Can Be – applying for financial aid was the most smooth process. I signed up on FAFSA and they notified the university that I needed aid in paying for tuition. Without having to contact the University of Alabama they had already sent me a letter offering financial aid. It was super easy and I recommend it to everyone.

Campus Strictness: In order to stay out of trouble one must be knowledgable of their surroundings. If you walk around drunk and being careless you will get caught. Sometimes punishments vary depending on the number of times one is stopped by the campus police. ABC, however is the worst group of people to get caught by for underage drinking. They do not take it lightly and punishment tends to be severe.

Guys & Girls: Boys Boys Boys – The boys at Alabama are one of a kind. The school varies from sweet southern gentlemen all the way to the jerks that haves egos up to the roof.

Local Atmosphere: Tuscaloosa is one of the cities where it has a big city atmosphere without being a big city. Tuscaloosa has countless stores, malls, and a movie theatre. There is a skating rink and a variety f resturants there too.

Guys & Girls: Greek Life Attire – You will find tons of frat guys in polos and khakis walking around campus. Greek life is a huge thing at University of Alabama so many people dress preppy. A lot of girls, mostly sorority girls wear big tshirts and nike shorts with gym shoes to class.

Weather: Iffy on Some Days – being in Alabama, the summer, especially August, is extremely hot and humid. This makes the first couple weeks of class a little annoying, but if you wear shorts and try to stay inside for a few weeks, the fall, winter, and spring are beautiful!! During the spring it does rain a good bit, but it's really not that big of a problem.

Local Atmosphere: Tuscaloosa is a generally safe, fun environment. They are very student friendly, and many events are targeted for students. We have tons of great concerts (Train, Luke Bryan, and John Mayer to name a few), the Black Warrior River to kayak, canoe or swim in, and Moundville just down the road. There are two larger malls within 2 miles of campus, and lots of boutiques with reasonably priced clothes. There are ALWAYS sporting events to go to, and all of them are free for students except football games, which are only 5 dollars!

Transportation: Very Abundant – Transportation provided by campus is very convenient. Buses run all day every day on several different routes with many stops. When the buses stop running, 348-RIDE starts running. Basically you just call that number and a bus or taxi comes to pick you up for free. There are also local taxi companies, and you can rent zip cars to go as far as you need to for a very reasonable price!

Facilities: Super Impressive! First off, we have the most amazing rec center, where you can take exercise classes, lift weights, play basketball, work out, rent outdoor equipment, and swim. We also have any kind of field or gym you could imagine, and a very large intramural sports program. We have several libraries on campus for different areas of study, the Ferguson Center, our student center, is the main place for students. Our book store, post office, bank, dean's office, biggest cafeteria, and theatre are housed there. there are SO many different activities to get involved in, from religious groups to academic clubs to sororities or fraternities to sports clubs to cultural groups. You will find what you want here!!

Drug Safety: Prominent Greek Life – Greek life is very big on the UA campus, and this includes frat parties and swaps every week, as well as bars and clubs right off campus. However, I myself have not felt pressured in any way to drink, and I have not even heard of any drugs on campus. I guess you find what you are looking for here, whether you are looking for drinking and drugs or just a quiet time.

Majors: A Little Bit of Everything – The University of Alabama has a major that fits anyone. Whether its Arts, Medicine, Business or Languages and Travel, UA has a program that can prepare its students for a bright and fulfilling future.

Campus Housing: ...but you'll pay out of the nose for them. There are more traditional options that run about $6000 a year; the suite-style dorms are really nice, but are around $9000 a year. Freshman must live on campus, and along with that they must purchase a $1500 meal plan. The newer dorms are definitely good options though (I lived in Ridgecrest South), though if you don't have a scholarship you likely won't hesitate to go off campus after the first year.

Parking: Parking passes at UA range from about $125 to almost $500, depending on whether you're on campus and whether you'd like to actually park ON campus or in a perimeter lot. If you have a permit, parking is usually available. If you're off campus, you really have to consider whether you need to drive to campus; most nearby apartment complexes offer shuttles.

Scholarships: Simple Process, Generous Offers – For "high stats" students, getting a scholarship for tuition or more is automatic so long as you submit the application (a very simple form, largely a formality). Other scholarships are more competitive, but there are plenty available.

Athletics: Come on Down to Title Town – In 2012, Crimson Tide teams won FOUR national championships -- football, softball, gymnastics, and women's golf. Exciting, but not surprising. It sounds arrogant, but Alabama is good at pretty much everything. All sports' home games are free for students (except football -- $5 a game). Roll tide.

Parking: Parking is rough. You will get fined if you park wrong.

Campus Strictness: The police are strict and want to keep school safe.

Athletics: Sports are fun and the students really show spirit.

Drug Safety: Drinking Is More Popular – The University has a zero tolerance for drinking on campus, however you see it a the nearby strip where bars are located.

Local Atmosphere: No Place on Earth Like It – Theres no place on earth like Tuscaloosa, the city of champions!! It truly is an experience that can not be beat with any other University!

Parking: There is plenty of parking which makes it easy for people to find a parking space close enough to their classes. It may be a bit difficult parking in some places because the ones in the lot of your class may be taken so you would have to park a bit further.

Overall Experience: Great School!! I absolutely love this school, and I show great pride in my school. The sporting events are awesome. Tailgating parties and hanging out with friends. Having the freedom allows me to whatever I want. People are always welcoming here.

4 College Junior

Campus Strictness: Strictness Not So Bad – I often have a great time at my school. On game days, officers are very lenient and they try not to interfere unless someone really becomes a disturbance. Obviously they are firm about under age drinking and drug use, but it is not extreme. Although things are not extremely strict, I always feel safe on campus and off campus.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: Amazing Coursework – In the Food and Nutrition degree program academics are demanding, but the instructors are willing to help students understand the information. The information is up-to-date and continually evolves, and the instructors make sure new info is presented in class when applicable. Highly recommended!

University of Alabama students constantly brag about their school’s traditions and spirit, and their pride is shown throughout the town. Some say it’s the incredible education that drew them here, and others say it’s Bama football that brought them to this Southern school. But no matter what reason these students choose to come to UA, most believe it was the best choice they could have made.

After graduation, some students get a job, some further their education by going to UA’s grad school, and some even go to UA’s law school. No matter what the students decide to do with their future, they believe Bama has prepared them for it. Students advise upcoming freshmen to walk around the Quad, visit the Strip, or watch a football game to understand why so many love UA.
