Campus Dining: We have 4 dining halls open during the day and 2 dining halls open during the night, and one available for late night (10-1). There are also many fast food restaurants available (Dunkin Donuts, Chikfila, Burger King, etc.) I personally think the variety of food is fantastic, as well as you always have the options of salad, burgers, or pizza daily. The taste of the food is fantastic. A meal plan can be a little expensive, but the variety and convenience is worth it. Needless to say, I will have to splurge and by a meal plan every year.

Campus Strictness: I personally have never had a problem with campus strictness. I suggest being discreet in any illegal behavior but I do not believe the police "have it out to get you." All the RA's I know are fairly lenient (as long as you're not obnoxious.)

Parking: Parking on campus is always a problem for many people because of the lack of parking spaces by the dorms and other areas around campus. It seems as if there are more than students than parking spaces and in order to get a good spot you have to circle the block in search of one several times.

Guys & Girls: Most of the people on campus are well groomed, take pride in how the look, and keep their personal hygiene in check. As for social events and parties, mostly everyone knows how to have a great time without violence occurring.

Local Atmosphere: Tuscaloosa is an average sized town with a big city mind set. We have a lot to offer, but everything is clustered and close. We have plenty of parks and rec centers for people that like to work out and stay in shape. Hospitality is very high on our list, so you can walk up to anyone and ask them what resturants they would recommend or where the best place to shop is.

Greek Life: Greek life is pretty overwhelming at UA and they are more useful for parties than actual community service. They received a C- from me because the white greeks don't accept the black greeks, even though they all believe in the brother/sisterhood bonds created. There are even certain frat houses that do not allow blacks to attend their parties. It's very segregated.

Campus Strictness: If your in a sorority it is very strict. Each one has their own rules. U need to have a GPA that is kept up,or u go inoor standing and have many hrs of study halls

Guys & Girls: Everyone is nice to everyone. Even though there is division between guys and girls, you cant tell

Nightlife: Football season is the reason for a night life in Tuscaloosa. If your 21 and up consider yourself to have a great time but under that limit watch out for the cops. To get around cabs will charge you for high fares so be mindful of that, the clubs normally start charging (21 and older) $5 and up for underage people that varies from $10 and up. The city stays busy with fans, friends and family all throughout the week and your never bored. Just walking on "the strip" which is the most popular area you will have live music playing and people eating along the restaurant patio areas. There are always parties on the weekends and endless fun on the quad in the center of campus before the games starts. When football season ends in December or January (if team wins the National Championship) the town is a complete snooze fest. However gymnastics, basketball and baseball still cause the city to still have life but being here for almost 4 years going downtown gets old.

Off-Campus Housing: Tuscaloosa has a wide selection of apartments the cheaper the apartment the worst off the location expensive the apartment better location and amenities to assist you. On campus they provide an apartment day fair for students in search for a new place to call home after the dorm life style ends. Watch out for the fun contests and early discount rates if you get convinced to sign a lease early that means your living there! Just do your research before making anything final by talking to current residents and there is always someone on campus that can assist you with further information.

Drug Safety: The student organizations are enforcing a drug free campus but there are a number of students who disagree with banding smoking. Alcohol is the most common drug in social settings but other controlled substances are hidden that was until the local police did a huge drug bust of over 80 students going to jail. This incident happening alarmed others who partake in these hobbies to stop especially on campus but pushing the issue more could be better voiced . Peer pressure, stress, financial problems, and COLLEGE etc can lead one to resulting to drugs but that doesnt make it okay. Sure when that time of the year rolls around to be drug free the campus gets into an uproar of promoting it but that should always be a common topic. We could do better to save lives!!!

Majors: I am attending the University of Alabama. I have always like using my hands. I feel that Computer Sciences is a good fit for me and my future career.

4 College Freshman

Parking: It's great that they let you have a car freshmen year.

Off-Campus Dining: Tuscaloosa is a large and lively city so you have everything from the chains to mom and pops.

4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Drugs will be found at any college you attend. It really depends on who you associate yourself with.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: Lakeside dining hall should be avoided. The food gets progressively worse the longer the year goes on. Fresh foods is continuously good. Burke is also consistently good. Bryant is the best place to eat, by far.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: I mean, it's weather. It changes. Most of the time it's beautiful, but you can also go for days without seeing the sun.

2 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Having the largest population of greek students doesn't help UA's cause, but the non greeks drink just as much as the greeks do. Adderall and weed are the two most abused drugs on campus.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: There's not much of a tolerance for being drunk in public or being caught with drugs. Cheating is pretty hit or miss, though. Some professors will just tell you personally not to do it again, but others will report you.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: My housing is great but I have two other roommates living with me in my dorm.

Facilities: Campus life in the University of Alabama is always filled with school pride and lots of Roll Tides. There are thousands of student clubs where anyone can join.

Campus Dining: Excellent I love campus dining because it close to my dorm and with me being a freshman I get the unlimited meal plan which is great for me cause I always get the munchies.

Campus Housing: Some of the dorms are pretty small if you are on a tight budget. Sharing these rooms with a roommate can be very challenging.

University of Alabama students constantly brag about their school’s traditions and spirit, and their pride is shown throughout the town. Some say it’s the incredible education that drew them here, and others say it’s Bama football that brought them to this Southern school. But no matter what reason these students choose to come to UA, most believe it was the best choice they could have made.

After graduation, some students get a job, some further their education by going to UA’s grad school, and some even go to UA’s law school. No matter what the students decide to do with their future, they believe Bama has prepared them for it. Students advise upcoming freshmen to walk around the Quad, visit the Strip, or watch a football game to understand why so many love UA.
