Drug Safety: Drugs are a big deal in the greek scene at my school. It depends on who you hang out with and where you are seen. Cocaine and weed are the two most common drugs.

Off-Campus Housing: The off campus housing is definitely nice and gives you a good range of options to choose from. The off campus housing is about the same price as some of the on campus housing and is more available than the on campus housing. The off campus housing is relatively close to the university.

Computers: The computers are pretty good. there are choices of macs and there are enough computer labs to get your work done within walking distance. I personally would recommend having your own computer and printer just to benefit you, but its not a necessity if you don't have one or cant afford one.

Greek Life: Greek life is pretty fun for everyone even if you're not apart of a fraternity or sorority.

Academics: I'm in the College of Human Environmental Services, and I have nothing but good things to say about it. I'm a Human Development and Family Studies major with a concentration in Child Life, and all of my professors have been knowledgeable in their courses and more than willing to help their students in any way possible.

Parking: Not enough parking and so far from class

Campus Housing: Housing cost is out of control. Housing is a racquet in Tuscaloosa. To find a home or apartment for the fall, one must start looking and make a deposit just after Christmas. Realtors realize this and price gouge. They also have ridiculous contracts that protect them and the renter is at their mercy!

Transportation: Transportation is adequate. Parking is terrible and parking permits for school are excessive as compared to other schools.

Local Atmosphere: Large school with a lot to offer. Several towns within 60 miles that offer museums, shopping, and just about anything else.

Weather: Weather is usually fine. There are tornado's and rain but not much different than any other area of the country

Scholarships: UA has block tuition scholarships based on SAT scores; i.e. if you have a 1400 composite score, you get free tuition, and if you have a 1350, you get 2/3 of tuition, etc. There are also a lot of scholarships available departmentally.

Campus Dining: Some places, like Bryant and the Ferg, are really good. Others, like Burke, are just okay, and Lakeside isn't very good. So it really depends on where you go. There are also a lot of dining options on-campus that aren't dining halls, and those are obviously really good.

Greek Life: I get annoyed by the greek system, but I give it the best rating because it's the most affluent and biggest panhellenic system in the country. It definitely dominates sometimes, but the majority of students are not greek, so you don't have to join a fraternity or sorority to have fun.

Greek Life: Greek life at Alabama is close to being the best in the nation. Considering slightly more than half are in the Greek community here, joining a Fraternity or Sorority will help you integrate into an influential, widespread campus network.

Majors: I wish I had someone to tell me the importance of internships

Transportation: A strong number of buses are made available and student transportation is excellent. There is not enough parking on campus for students on and off campus or visitors.

Health & Safety: Guards and security systems on campus are great, but drug policies and the policing of Greek life is poor.

4 College Junior

Computers: All labs in my experience were well maintained and up to date.

4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Predominately Greek. Unfortunate in my opinion, but enough variety in the massive student body for everyone.

Campus Dining: Good variety of foods split between cafeterias, and numerous retail eateries on and off campus. However, the monotony of certain dining halls and overcrowding are detrimental.

5 College Junior

Majors: I love my major. It is very popular and all the teachers are extremely knowledgeable and always willing to help students.

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Financial aid isn't hard to attain here, but it could be improved.

Academics: It is extremely tough but Engineering is the type of field tat is suppose to be tough. But if you put in the work you will reap the benefits.

Weather: Horrible. The weather is so bipolar. One minute its hot than the next its raining but still HOT.

University of Alabama students constantly brag about their school’s traditions and spirit, and their pride is shown throughout the town. Some say it’s the incredible education that drew them here, and others say it’s Bama football that brought them to this Southern school. But no matter what reason these students choose to come to UA, most believe it was the best choice they could have made.

After graduation, some students get a job, some further their education by going to UA’s grad school, and some even go to UA’s law school. No matter what the students decide to do with their future, they believe Bama has prepared them for it. Students advise upcoming freshmen to walk around the Quad, visit the Strip, or watch a football game to understand why so many love UA.
