4 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Police have a presence but are not mean to students. They just get on people with parking violations.

Scholarships: I'm happy I'm getting instate tuition even though I'm not from Alabama, but I have above a 4.0 GPA and believe that I should be getting more help.

Athletics: I love the rec center, but more parking would be nice. Also, more fans upstairs would be appreciated.

Weather: I really like cold weather and hate hot weather. The fall semester was way too hot. Winter didn't come until January and is gone by March.

Drug Safety: Many people drink, but it is a college campus so that's expected.

Nightlife: I haven't been to many parties,so I don't have much to say.

Health & Safety: I've only been to the SHC once and I had to wait way too long before I could see someone.

Off-Campus Housing: There are many options. The ones that are closer to the University cost more, but that's to be expected.

Parking: A parking pass costs way too much money. The rec lot needs to be bigger

Off-Campus Housing: There are so many places to choose from and will accommodate anyones budget. Safety in most places is really good. Most complexes have night security and/or gated. Staffs seem to be really nice and understanding. Most have resort style amenities.

Transportation: Transportation on campus is great and it does not cost anything. I know there is local transportation but not sure what it costs. I know many apartment complexes have there own transportation which does not cost anything either. As far as long-distance transportation, I am not aware of any such organization.

Weather: It is good for the most part. However, when it rains your feet WILL get wet. Also, Tuscaloosa is known for having tornados but one hopes for the best. Moreover, school administration does a great job in student safety.

Off-Campus Dining: Off-campus dining is great. There are so many places and varieties to choose. Cost is average. I have not seen many student discounts; however, there are many places that take Bama Cash which is awesome. My fav place to go is Chick Fil A and there are several to choose from, my second would be Chipotle. There are several places that stay open late.

Local Atmosphere: The University is located in the city. This is deferent for me because I have always lived in the country. There are great activities around town like the theaters, bowling, and billiards. Night life holds anything one could think of. The city itself is a typical city with lower and higher income areas.

Nightlife: Need to be 21 to enjoy the bars and clubs. Fraternity parties are always having someone. 348-Ride will get you anywhere for free late at night.

Guys & Girls: Girls are drop dead gorgeous but impossible to meet unless you are in a fraternity. Everyone dresses conservatively and it was hard to adjust being from Southern Florida. Buy polos, blue jeans, dresses, sperrys, and kahkis

University of Alabama students constantly brag about their school’s traditions and spirit, and their pride is shown throughout the town. Some say it’s the incredible education that drew them here, and others say it’s Bama football that brought them to this Southern school. But no matter what reason these students choose to come to UA, most believe it was the best choice they could have made.

After graduation, some students get a job, some further their education by going to UA’s grad school, and some even go to UA’s law school. No matter what the students decide to do with their future, they believe Bama has prepared them for it. Students advise upcoming freshmen to walk around the Quad, visit the Strip, or watch a football game to understand why so many love UA.
