3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: I think the off-campus dining is pretty average, compared to other big Universities.

Weather: The University is located in a southern state so the weather tends to be relatively mild.

Campus Housing: It really just depend on the age of the housing units; the newer housing units are going to be nicer, of course.

Local Atmosphere: Not much to do outside the university

Greek Life: Greek life on campus is kind of a big deal. Those who join tend to enjoy the social scene more than non-Greeks. We have opulent Greek houses as well as average ones. The more popular Greeks tend to be more expensive to join.

Nightlife: The strip is amazing. The parties thrown around campus have no rival.

Drug Safety: Basically, if you don't want to take part in anything you don't have to. No one is going to make you do anything you don't want to.

Academics: Dr. VanZee is amazing! He has done wonders for my outlook on being a chemical engineer at this school. The academics can be very difficult at times but it is manageable.

Campus Strictness: They know what battles to fight here on campus. Alcohol is generally just a slap on the wrist by the campus police. Tuscaloosa PD is a different story, they love to throw the book at anyone they can.

Health & Safety: There are some rough spots in tuscaloosa, but many of them are far enough off campus where it isn't a problem for students.

Parking: The parking enforcement here is very strict. I've been given tickets for parking in my zone but in a "undesignated spot" Can be ridiculous at times and the fees are very steep.

Diversity: Pretty diverse campus. Everyone gets along fairly well. The races can be somewhat cliquey.

Computers: All classrooms are equipped with modern technology which is good. The internet on campus is HORRIBLE. You spend more time with no internet or unusable speeds then you do with a working connection. This is something the school needs to fix.

Campus Dining: The food is alright. There are only 4 dining halls on campus that get atrociously busy around the lunch and dinner hours.

Off-Campus Housing: You can find a place that meets almost any budget. Most places are convenient to campus and the ones that are not usually have shuttles.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: The labs are almost brand new. All modern computers in the comp labs. Some lecture halls feel cramped but for the most part they are alright. Dorms are amazing.

5 College Freshman

Facilities: Some buildings are showing their age, but this is easily overshadowed by the new and modern construction taking place on campus.

Off-Campus Dining: You can get almost whatever you want whenever you want. Places are open almost 24/7.

3 College Freshman

Weather: It can be freezing cold in the winter to unbearably hot in the end of summer. It rains a good bit, but when it is sunny it is amazing.

5 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: The girls are beautiful and friendly. What more could you ask for?

University of Alabama students constantly brag about their school’s traditions and spirit, and their pride is shown throughout the town. Some say it’s the incredible education that drew them here, and others say it’s Bama football that brought them to this Southern school. But no matter what reason these students choose to come to UA, most believe it was the best choice they could have made.

After graduation, some students get a job, some further their education by going to UA’s grad school, and some even go to UA’s law school. No matter what the students decide to do with their future, they believe Bama has prepared them for it. Students advise upcoming freshmen to walk around the Quad, visit the Strip, or watch a football game to understand why so many love UA.
