4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: There are beautiful places with great gyms and included bus services.

Transportation: Tuscaloosa is hard to get around without a car. I was so so so much happier after bringing my car to campus. Parking is easy. The school doesn't give tickets often. Do not let your parents talk you out of bringing your car your first year! You will be able to enjoy Tuscaloosa and the amazing parks around town so much easier with one.

Health & Safety: I've never felt unsafe. I wouldn't leave my nice road bike on the bike racks, but that's true at every campus.

Academics: I've had both wonderful and not so good professors. The most important skill you can learn is to teach yourself. Read textbooks because there isn't enough time in class to learn everything.

Campus Housing: By far on campus housing is the best at Alabama. I toured all over the country and never saw housing so nice. You will live in what is basically a hotel room if you choose suite style housing. Food is also right next to the dorms and you're within 10 walking minutes of all your classes.

Scholarships: It's literally so expensive to go here if you live out of state and really hard to receive any scholarship money.

Campus Strictness: They are really strict about somethings and really lax about other things, it's kinda all about what dorm you live in and who your RA's are.

Nightlife: It really sucks if you aren't 19. Frat parties are alright if you go to the right ones. Athlete parties are pretty good too.

Athletics: It's Alabama. Athletics doesn't really get much better than this, but for regular students it is really average. The regular student workout center isn't really much to fawn over.

Campus Housing: Small, nasty old dorms. The new ones are super far from campus (15-20 minute walk). Our dorm was closed down for a little bit due to asbestos this year.

Computers: Lots of computers but the wifi is pretty awful. Many different networks but they are all hard to get on and don't work a lot of the time

Weather: Snow, then sun, the rain lots of rain. Hot summers

3 College Freshman

Transportation: Its alright, buses are always late and its hard to get a shuttle to the airport

Off-Campus Dining: Only chains. Nothing interesting, hardly any healthy options.

Off-Campus Housing: Lots of options, but they're all the same. They're all pretty expensive for the quality that they are. Students are better off just renting a house with someone.

Greek Life: Greek life is everything at Alabama

Campus Housing: There are some old and new buildings and the prices obviously reflect that. I personally live off campus because dorms are far too expensive and also with pets I can't live on campus. But if you are looking for something extremely close and money is not an issue then go for it

Local Atmosphere: There are plenty of things to do around campus!

4 College Sophomore

Computers: There are plenty of computers all throughout the campus! The labs have many computers/laptops for you to use also, every library is stocked with computers!

Off-Campus Housing: There are a lot of places to chose from that is fit for every budget.

Most places are also pet friendly which is great!

Academics: Besides the professors that barely speak english, I have loved every professor and course I have taken. My academic experience has been excellent these past 3 semesters and I definitely recommend the Alabama for everyone.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: The only reason why I wouldn't feel safe is because the school is so large and you have to walk a decent walk to get anywhere. But there are always a ton of police around the dorms and fraternity row so I am not very worried, but always on my guard

Local Atmosphere: The town pretty much revolves around the school. I wish there were more interesting/fun things to do on a boring Saturday afternoon, but you can always go to the rec or walk along Riverwalk.

University of Alabama students constantly brag about their school’s traditions and spirit, and their pride is shown throughout the town. Some say it’s the incredible education that drew them here, and others say it’s Bama football that brought them to this Southern school. But no matter what reason these students choose to come to UA, most believe it was the best choice they could have made.

After graduation, some students get a job, some further their education by going to UA’s grad school, and some even go to UA’s law school. No matter what the students decide to do with their future, they believe Bama has prepared them for it. Students advise upcoming freshmen to walk around the Quad, visit the Strip, or watch a football game to understand why so many love UA.
