3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Its college, what can I say?

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: All of the dorms are not the best, but most of them are really nice. Plus, the people that live there with you make the experience all the better.

Weather: The weather is a little bit crazy, one day its is hot than cold then hot again, but I love it!

5 College Junior

Nightlife: Tuscaloosa has great night life. Many bars, restaurants, and clubs to suit different people's tastes.

Academics: Communicative Disorders is rapidly growing. It is an excellent and very rewarding major. The teachers are all extremely intelligent and work their hardest to form relationships with their students and help them in any way they can.

Academics: Alabama offers many challenging and engaging courses for what suits your needs. The curriculum is often on task and the workload ranges from average-heavy. There are many tutoring sessions, study options, and libraries to help you maximize your learning process.

Greek Life: Greek life is HUGE at Alabama. Many people say that if you don't join a sorority or fraternity you will be left out or you are simply weird. Although Greeks do raise money for philanthropies and hold important events, they are the most known to be the ones who drink and do drugs. They try to dominate the campus and are for the most part not liked by non-Greeks. Greek housing is actually under construction now as new sorority and fraternity houses are sprouting up everywhere.

Drug Safety: Tuscaloosa tends to be known as a party school and the bars prove that many students do like to party. Alcohol is very prominent on campus and peer pressure tends to fall under that. However, policy enforcement is very strict if they catch you participating in illegal activity.

5 College Junior

Campus Dining: Alabama has amazing renovated dining halls that offer so much variety. You can get whatever you want and go back for however much you want. Meal plans, dining dollars, and Bama cash are all very useful on campus.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: There are campus police everywhere you go. They are always circling campus keeping their eye out for law-breakers. I always feel safe walking on campus by myself. There are emergency phones in many places and is for the most part well-lit. Some crime still occurs on campus but I know which areas to avoid.

Campus Housing: Depending on where you live depends on the cost, cleanliness, and spaciousness. I lived in an all girls dorm called Julia Tutwiler Hall and lived in extremely close proximity to another girl. The bathrooms and living areas were cleaned daily and the community bathrooms to my surprise were not that bad. The dorm was very strict on boys entering the building and kept track of where they were. The dorm was very convenient having a computer lab and mini grocery mart downstairs and very close to academic buildings and the football stadium.

Computers: In the libraries there are a mixture of Macs and Dells. All technology is rather fast, yet the wi-fi is not always reliable. All students definitely need a laptop.

4 College Junior

Campus Strictness: Administration always keeps in contact with the student body to address certain rules and regulations that may come up. They keep track with all students behavior and do not tolerate violation of the academic honor code.

Overall Experience: I absolutely LOVE Alabama. My dad and both sisters attended here and it was the only school I wanted to attend and the only school I applied to. My school busts with pride and tradition and offers a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. It has a beautiful campus and so many opportunities and organizations for students of all backgrounds.

3 College Junior

Parking: Parking is always a hassle on campus. People are constantly being ticketed and towed left and right. Campus is for the most part close together so having a car is not a necessity. Parking fills up fast so some times it is hard to find spots--especially on home football weeks.

Athletics: The University of Alabama is for the most part known for our athletics program. We are currently back to back football National Champions and last year our softball, wheelchair basketball, gymnastics, and golf teams also won national championships. There are so many sports that are open to students who try out and of course a ton of supporting fans with an overload of school spirit. All of our athletics facilities are top notch and some of the best in the country.

5 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: There is a wide variety of restaurants off campus that range in cost and convenience. There are many different ethnic restaurants as well as your typical fast food joints.

3 College Student

Local Atmosphere: I would rather be up in Heaven. Attractions involve the lake.

3 College Student

Guys & Girls: Most people just stay with their significant other and leave everyone else alone.

4 College Student

Academics: There are many opportunities to work at the school.

Nightlife: I like to go back to my room.

University of Alabama students constantly brag about their school’s traditions and spirit, and their pride is shown throughout the town. Some say it’s the incredible education that drew them here, and others say it’s Bama football that brought them to this Southern school. But no matter what reason these students choose to come to UA, most believe it was the best choice they could have made.

After graduation, some students get a job, some further their education by going to UA’s grad school, and some even go to UA’s law school. No matter what the students decide to do with their future, they believe Bama has prepared them for it. Students advise upcoming freshmen to walk around the Quad, visit the Strip, or watch a football game to understand why so many love UA.
