Off-Campus Dining: There are so many delicious places to eat. Places like Buffalo Phil's and Domino's also take dining dollars which is awesome.

Local Atmosphere: Tuscaloosa is very much a college town. Pretty much everything is Crimson Tide themed, which is really fun. Shopping is pretty good in Midtown, but the mall is horrible. There are great places to eat. The town itself is pretty nice, although there are definitely some places you don't want to hang around in for too long.

Scholarships: I'm from out of state and wouldn't be able to come here if it weren't for the amazing scholarships.

Campus Housing: I'm in Tutwiler now and don't like it (it's very loud and crazy and the girls make it messy), but the staff does its best to keep everything clean. The good thing about it is that it has a food place and a book store downstairs. The other housing options like the suite-style dorms are amazing.

Nightlife: There is always something going on.

Health & Safety: The police are very alert and there are security guards all around campus, especially in parking lots. It's very well lit.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: Of course there is rain and storms, but for the most part the weather is beautiful. It is warm most of the year and occasionally it snows in the winter. There is a wide variety of weather but for the most part it's very nice.

Guys & Girls: There is a pretty equal percentage of boys and girls here. You are going to find the opposite sex when ever you are doing something that you love. You're normally not going to find a relationship at a party, nor do you really want to. If you are out volunteering or doing something you're happy doing then you're going to find someone there who loves doing the same things as you.

Nightlife: There are always parties on the weekends and even when there are not the bars are usually pretty crowded. The fraternities normally have some pretty popular bands about once a month.

Off-Campus Housing: I really like the apartment that I am in. They are very good at repairing anything requiring help in a timely manner. It is very close to campus and they have a bus service that will drive you to campus as well. It is very expensive however. I think it costs more than it is actually worth.

3 College Sophomore

Majors: I have not had an internship yet. I plan on starting my first internship this month for one of my classes. I do not plan on getting paid because it is a requirement for my classes and major.

Majors: I think my college really prepares each student for the field. As an elementary education major I think that they make sure we are ready for entering the field. The college makes sure we have a wide variety of experience in different class rooms. My career goals are to work in an upper elementary class room. I would really like to do teach for America or work in a lower poverty area. I feel as though I will be very well prepared to teach although, I am concerned about finding a job just because there are a lot of people with my major.

Greek Life: We have one of the biggest Greek life's in the country. If you are Greek you will think that every one is Greek. However if you are not Greek you will realize that there are a lot of people who are not Greek.

Drug Safety: You definitely see people doing drugs or you'll meet people who do drugs. You never really get in trouble for being around people who have drugs. Also, there will be people doing them no matter what party you are attending.

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: The Greek housing is being replaced and everything is becoming gigantic. The Greek system runs the campus because they run the SGA.

Guys & Girls: The girls are all really good looking. All of the fraternity guys wear the same things and all the sorority girls all wear the same things because it is forced on them to wear certain things and look a certain way.

Diversity: There is diversity but campus still has de facto segregation because it is the deep south and that's just how things are.

Transportation: It runs all the time and has lots of pick-up locations but is slow and doesn't have direct routes to places I need to go so /i have to talk multiple buses to get places.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: I did not apply for financial aide but I received multiple scholarships from the University based on prior academics.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: I have never been in trouble with anyone on campus but I have heard of other people getting in trouble for certain things but they always seem fair.

3 College Freshman

Weather: Since campus is so large, walking to class is sometimes difficult in heavy rain or extreme cold.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: I personally am not a fan of Greek life because of some of things associated with them but individually the Greeks do not bother me.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I always feel safe on campus and have only heard of one or two criminal acts. I know the parties can sometimes be out of control but I personally feel safe.

4 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: The campus is beautiful and the nearby areas are not bad either. I enjoy the outdoorsy parts of the local areas such as the Riverwalk and nearby lakes.

3 College Freshman

Nightlife: I don't participate in the usual college nightlife; I don't go to bars or fraternity parties but from what I hear from the people I live with and around, they are pretty fun.

University of Alabama students constantly brag about their school’s traditions and spirit, and their pride is shown throughout the town. Some say it’s the incredible education that drew them here, and others say it’s Bama football that brought them to this Southern school. But no matter what reason these students choose to come to UA, most believe it was the best choice they could have made.

After graduation, some students get a job, some further their education by going to UA’s grad school, and some even go to UA’s law school. No matter what the students decide to do with their future, they believe Bama has prepared them for it. Students advise upcoming freshmen to walk around the Quad, visit the Strip, or watch a football game to understand why so many love UA.
