Drug Safety: Students at Alabama use drugs often. It's not a big deal if you use drugs or have them on you. Students use drugs in dorms and off campus. Cops try and crack down on big issues, they are fairly understanding. The amount of drugs sold on campus is crazy.

Greek Life: Alabama has a thriving Greek program. All Greeks are involved on campus activities (organizations, sports). Fraternities and Sororities are very selective on who can join the chapter. Being Greek at a school like Alabama is a huge deal and allows you to get great connections.

Local Atmosphere: There are many areas of improvement. But this town in continuing to grow into something bigger than it was ever intended for. Which comes with pain and hassels but is exciting to watch a be a part of.

Athletics: It is a part of everything! The school, the community, and the state. Football is main event and everything here revolves around it.

Nightlife: There is always something going on. Even if you are not Greek there is something to do.

Diversity: Everyone really accepts everyone. You meet the most random people from all over the world and everyone gets along for the most part.

Drug Safety: You cant walk to class and see somebody getting all messed up or anything like that. They may be out there, but anything that is done, has been done indoors. Not many get away with doing drugs outside on campus. Drinking and smoking weed are the most common things, which are dealt with when necessary. But if youre not bothering anyone or causing any harm, youre good to go.

Campus Strictness: I really appreciate the level of strictness at Alabama. They always have the best in mind for us and want to help. But, they never try to ruin your fun or anything either. They understand we are growing adults and we live and we learn.

Transportation: We have great transportation. I have a shuttle that picks me up every monring from my apartment, for free, and it brings me right back. There are also buses that do dailey routes all day throughout the week.

Academics: My major is not available here, only the pre-studies are. Which is sort of hard to get used to because you have to really look up everything you need to take on your own. The advisors try to help but usually they just confuse me more and want to get me out of there as fast as possible.

Greek Life: I am an independent, but most people I know are greeks. It is really dependant on what type of person you are. Some people love the greek life, but others, like me, prefer to save money and not be ridiculous all the time. Greeks do often hold themselves at higher standards but all you have to do is ignore them.

Health & Safety: Our security on campus is actually very helpful and trustworthy. If you can't find a white security car or campus police, you can easily spot numerous blue emergency poles, and they shine at night. The security officers at all of the dorms are always very responsive and polite. The university police stay on campus and patrol very well, but they also know we are trying to have fun with our friends and don't get on to us unless we are truly a bother or safety hazard.

Weather: Our weather is crazy, but that is just Alabama for you. As long as you have rain boots and a rain jacket, you basically good to go. The rain comes and goes but walking on a wet campus can get very cold if you dont wear the right shoes. Also, even when it is cold outside, you can sit out on the patio tables because we have patio heaters.

Computers: The network sometimes messes up when you are on your phone or personal laptop. But, usually if you are in an actual building the wi-fi picks up perfectly. There is only sometimes a few glitches in the system but they wok fast to get things back up and going again for us. Printing on campus is very affordable and you can even use your student id card to pay for it instead of having to make sure you have money on you. The self check out areas in our libraries are also very helpful with the speedy process.

Off-Campus Dining: The off-campus dining is perfectly fine. I wish more of the places accepted our "Bama Cash" or "Dining Dollars" because that is money that is automatically given to me each semester and it makes it easier to not spend my "real" money (like on my personal debit card). There are the average about of options available to us, the location is perfect, you cannot go one block without running into atleast one food service place.

University of Alabama students constantly brag about their school’s traditions and spirit, and their pride is shown throughout the town. Some say it’s the incredible education that drew them here, and others say it’s Bama football that brought them to this Southern school. But no matter what reason these students choose to come to UA, most believe it was the best choice they could have made.

After graduation, some students get a job, some further their education by going to UA’s grad school, and some even go to UA’s law school. No matter what the students decide to do with their future, they believe Bama has prepared them for it. Students advise upcoming freshmen to walk around the Quad, visit the Strip, or watch a football game to understand why so many love UA.
