Athletics: National Champions – The athletics at the University at Alabama are great. There is lots of student support of the athletes. The athletic facilities are incredible and can not get any better. School spirit runs rampede with colors being represented all over campus and around the town.

Transportation: Crimson Ride – While there are always buses running, the parking and seating available can be quite a hassle. The time it takes to get to class is ridiculous sometimes though.

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Something for Everybody – No matter what your preference, there are a ton of different personalities, looks, and smarts for anybody here.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: There are many diversities located in this college town. Mostly everybody is accepted/can find a circle of friends to interact with. The only downside is that it is extremely Greek, and sometimes can interfere if you are not included in this group. Otherwise, University of Alabama has a variety that everyone can relate to.

Facilities: Great School With a Bad Stereotype – The school is very football and greek life oriented. When people hear the name University of Alabama, many think it is a joke of school; however, the school contains many hard honors courses and consistently ranks among the elite in terms of honors programs throughout the years. Their is a great divide between most greeks and the rest of the students when it comes to seriousness towards schoolwork. Greeks typically are much more relaxed about the school and this is what has given Alabama it's bad reputation, there are exceptions to this fact though. The social scene is great, especially if you are in a fraternity or have connections to a fraternity. There is always something to do as long as you are willing to be outgoing and look for it.

Off-Campus Housing: Better Than Other Colleges I've Seen. One thing The University of Alabama does well is housing. The on-campus housing for most is spectacular and the off-campus is great also. I live in an apartment about 7 min from campus but it is very nice for only about $325 a month. There are other places closer to campus that range from $400-$500 that are very nice and typically have the option to be fully furnished and utilities are included. Parking is very nice off-campus but the parking on campus is different. Bama still has some kinks to work out there.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Good but Room for Improvement – The off-campus dining is what you expect in a college town. Tuscaloosa has a few unique places to eat but typically restaurants like Mugshot's and Jimmy Johns which exist in other cities but are nowhere near the popularity of large chains such as McDonald's. The average price for going out for a dinner ranges from about 7-10 bucks but luckily some of those places allow you to use your campus dining dollars in place of cash.

Facilities: Football AND Academics – The University of Alabama is obviously well-known for its outstanding football dynasty; however, it has been my experience that academically speaking UA is one of the very best institutions of higher learning.

4 College Sophomore

Weather: In the summer months things are pretty humid, but as fall approaches things are PERFECT.

5 College Sophomore

Facilities: The Faculty Is GREAT – I am a transfer at the University of Alabama from a small private college in Florida, and I have to say I was more or less convinced that I would get little attention or recognition from my professors. I was wrong. ALL of my professors have been extremely approachable and kind. They are genuinely helpful in their teaching both in and out of class. Top grade educators.

Parking: Parking issues can be kind of nightmarish. It's a dog-eat-dog scene if you're a commuter. Residential parking is fine, but the common agreement is that the University must sell more parking permits than there are available spaces for commuters. Security officers are Nazis about ticketing.

3 College Sophomore

Transportation: The transportation for Alabama is good for on-campus students mainly because there are many spots open for them. For off-campus students it is very competitive. The school sells more parking passes than there are spots in each section all over the campus and they continuously sell more then normal and not fix the problem each year.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: The University of Alabama campus police can be strict but some times aren't. The police know everyone drinks even drinks but they are more worried about drunk driving and the safety of the student.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: There is a lot of off-campus housing in the Tuscaloosa area. The only problem there are many places that can be a lot more expensive than others. All of the off-campus living is good and everyone that I know likes it, it is just about how much money someone is willing to pay for certain places

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Drug Scene – Drinking at the University of Alabama is big mostly on the weekends and especially on game days. The "Strip" is where majority of everyone who is 21 or older go and hang out at bars. Anyone else mainly goes out and parties and friends houses.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: The Diversity of campus at the University of Alabama is mostly white, but Alabama does want to get more diverse. There are many transfer students from all over the world and from that many students are interested in doing over sea studies.

5 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Fine Women – The vast majority of the girls that I've seen in my two years at the University of Alabama have been incredibly attractive. This is especially true in the warmer months, when booty shorts rule the campus.

4 College Sophomore

Facilities: Student Recreation Center – The Student Recreation Center, which nearly all refer to as the Rec, provides an excellent opportunity to get a good workout, play intramural sports, or just lay out by the pool in the warmer months.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: The Strip – If you eat off campus at the University of Alabama, the Strip, which is adjacent to the west side of campus, has a wide variety of food choices. Most of it is excellent quality and low prices. I highly recommend Surin if you enjoy Thai food

Health & Safety: Safe as Safe Can Be – While on the campus of the University of Alabama, I have never felt unsafe. The entirety of campus is well-lit, plus the campus police has emergency lines throughout.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: Political Science – I was lucky, and always knew exactly what I wanted to go to college for. The University of Alabama has, hands down, one of the best political science programs in the country. The professors are excellent; not only are they great instructors, but they remain objective so you can form your own opinions. In this program, the opportunities you receive are astronomical.

Overall Experience: My Experience – Even though I have experienced some draw backs here at the University of Alabama, I can honestly say that coming to UA is one of the best decision I've made about my life. I wouldn't change any of my experiences good or bad because I think it helped mold me into the person I have become today. I've been a major path maker and cultural awareness advocate with helping to start, now, UA's largest multicultural sorority, Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Inc. and the friends and sisters I have gained in the process have been wonderful. I love each and everyone of them and they have made my college experiences amazing.

I also am very aware of the "party" repetition we have and yes people on this campus do know how to party, but despite all that you can still be very successful academically. You just have to find the right balance between fun and work and anybody will do fine.

Last but not least, there is nothing like Alabama football. gamedays are amazing and tailgating on the quad is an experience like no other.

Campus Dining: Bama Dining – The places on campus are good. They've tried to add some new things The only problem is the price of the food. It's pricey. If the university is trying to help student they don't need to be charging an arm and a leg for it. However, I don't really eat on campus too much anymore because I'm always over in the new Nursing building which is on the outsides perimeters of the campus.

5 Recent Alumnus

Athletics: Roll Tide – Roll Tide is defined as a rally chant for University of Alabama athletics, especially football. It comes from the Alabama football players running on the field in their crimson jerseys, looking like a sea of crimson. From football, to gymnastics, basketball, soccer and many kinds of sports which can be always seen in the campus, I think it is one of the reasons we students want to be here. The achievements of these parts are absolutely countless in conference championships and individual. All students in University of Alabama are crazy on the football season and explode their passion for the team. It can't be described by words simply, but I really want to say that the athletics in University of Alabama are awesome. Roll Tide Roll!

Weather: Seasons Change – We have four seasons in Alabama, but if you want snow do not come here. It does get cold, but rarely snows

University of Alabama students constantly brag about their school’s traditions and spirit, and their pride is shown throughout the town. Some say it’s the incredible education that drew them here, and others say it’s Bama football that brought them to this Southern school. But no matter what reason these students choose to come to UA, most believe it was the best choice they could have made.

After graduation, some students get a job, some further their education by going to UA’s grad school, and some even go to UA’s law school. No matter what the students decide to do with their future, they believe Bama has prepared them for it. Students advise upcoming freshmen to walk around the Quad, visit the Strip, or watch a football game to understand why so many love UA.
