3 College Freshman

Greek Life: I personally am not a fan of Greek life because of some of things associated with them but individually the Greeks do not bother me.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I always feel safe on campus and have only heard of one or two criminal acts. I know the parties can sometimes be out of control but I personally feel safe.

4 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: The campus is beautiful and the nearby areas are not bad either. I enjoy the outdoorsy parts of the local areas such as the Riverwalk and nearby lakes.

3 College Freshman

Nightlife: I don't participate in the usual college nightlife; I don't go to bars or fraternity parties but from what I hear from the people I live with and around, they are pretty fun.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: There are a ton of off-campus housing options that are all fairly close to campus. Prices are a bit higher than I would prefer but a lot of the facilities are worth it.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: I have not noticed any sort of drug problem on campus but I have noticed a lot of students, under and of age, drinking somewhat frequently.

3 College Freshman

Parking: There isn't much to complain about parking. Some of the lots are not necessarily well-designed but they get the job done and support the demand of the campus.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: The sports are a big part of campus in Tuscaloosa. Varsity sports, mostly football, are very popular and there are always lots of teams signing up for intramural sports as well.

3 College Freshman

Diversity: I have noticed the diversity on campus but I think the majority is still white people who are accepting of other cultures and ethnicities.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: Around campus the buses take a long time and don't always stop. There really isn't a convenient way around Tuscaloosa without a personal car or friends.

3 College Freshman

Weather: Weather in Alabama is always unpredictable

Drug Safety: There's definitely a lot of partiers, but with a weird mix of people that don't do any drugs because of their religion.

Off-Campus Dining: The best places to eat are Jim 'N' Nicks and Dreamland.

Campus Housing: Just don't live in Tutwiler and Paty, the rest of the dorms are fine.

Local Atmosphere: The strip is nice. Downtown is fairly small, but it's very charming and there are really cool restaurants there.

Campus Strictness: The visitation policies aren't bad unless you live in Tutwiler and then they are very strict. Boys can't be in the dorm during certain times and they have to check in with their IDs when they do come in.

Computers: The wireless network is so slow and it consistently does not work.

5 College Freshman

Scholarships: The scholarships offered, especially to out-of-state residents is too good to pass up.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Off-campus housing isn't too bad, it's a bit expensive though. It is completely necessary because there really isn't a room for non-freshmen to live on campus.

College Freshman

Majors: I haven't had an internship in my field yet, so it's not applicable.

5 College Freshman

Majors: The professors for both of my majors are very accessible and are dedicated to their jobs.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: It's nice that the sports are open to anyone that wants to join.

4 College Freshman

Weather: It can be a bit humid, but overall the sunny weather makes it good studying weather.

University of Alabama students constantly brag about their school’s traditions and spirit, and their pride is shown throughout the town. Some say it’s the incredible education that drew them here, and others say it’s Bama football that brought them to this Southern school. But no matter what reason these students choose to come to UA, most believe it was the best choice they could have made.

After graduation, some students get a job, some further their education by going to UA’s grad school, and some even go to UA’s law school. No matter what the students decide to do with their future, they believe Bama has prepared them for it. Students advise upcoming freshmen to walk around the Quad, visit the Strip, or watch a football game to understand why so many love UA.
