4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: A lot of girls are very jappy and a lot of guys are pretty similar.

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: The general population of girls and boys at Tulane is quite preppy. There are a lot of students from privileged backgrounds, some coming from the NorthEast or the South, and many from California. That said, a great many defy the "country club" stereotype.

College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: the guys and girls are similar in that each faction enjoys to party and have a good time and understands the significance of "work hard, party harder", which seems to be tulanes new motto.

5 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Work hard, play hard, to the extreme. And you'll never stop meeting new and interesting people who love having a good time

3 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Most of the guys look the same. Mainly preppy, new englanders. Not much eye candy.

Tulane has a wide variety of guys and girls on campus. The girls tend to dress up more than at your average college campus and put a lot put effort into their appearance. Most guys tend to look average and have the average college wardrobe. Just because this is the majority doesn’t mean that everyone has adopted these looks, however. There a lot of “cool and interesting people” to meet and a lot of them like to have a good time along with studying and being typical intellectual college students.

There are more hookups than actual committed relationships at Tulane, but you’ll still find a lot of people with significant others that live elsewhere. Because of the mild weather, you’ll see girls sunbathing in practically every month of the year, and people tend to wear tank tops and shorts for a majority of the spring and part of the fall semester. When the weather does turn colder, the clothing gets a little more varied, with leggings and boots and jeans and sneakers. If you don’t love someone for their looks, you’ll love them for their intelligence or personality because a lot of the good finds here are the really smart ones. There’s not an abundance of the nerdy-kid stereotype here, nor is there the really preppy stereotype. In fact, there is enough diversity among Tulane students that it’s hard to pick a “typical” student—you really do see a lot of everything. No matter your type is you’re bound to find someone to connect with here.

Social Scene
People love to drink here, so a lot of the social scene revolves around one of the many bars near campus. Students attend frat parties in the fall in order to meet new people. However, there are a lot of groups that are into music and go to concerts, and there are some people that are into art or politics and do things with their group of friends. Basically, your social scene revolves around what group of people you hang out with most, so where you go on a Friday night depends on what the group is doing.
Hookups or Relationships?
Both. A lot of hookups happen all year `round, but a lot of people have boyfriends/girlfriends that go to different schools, and there are a lot of relationships on campus as well.
Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls
You'll be on people-overload during Orientation - you'll meet many people, but you won't remember half the names. Students usually meet the most guys/girls through the dorms or in classes. You'll meet a lot of people at parties, but your closest friends will most likely be through the organizations you join and the people in your hallway. You'll become really good friends with the people who are in your major once you declare one, because you will all be in the same classes together.
Dress Code
A lot of girls dress up practically every day, and it's an unstated rule that the official Tulane shoe is the flip flop. The bookstore sells Tulane flip flops, and guys and girls alike own a pair or two. A lot of girls carry around big tote bags as backpacks, and are constantly seen talking on a cell phone or smoking a cigarette.
The average straight college guy has a pretty bland collection of clothes, and they all dress the same. There are a lot of gay and metro-sexual guys at Tulane, so you'll often see a guy walking down McAlister with shoes on that you wish you owned. It's also cool to wear your collar flipped up, and Abercrombie is really popular with the preppy kids.
Then there are kids like myself. On a regular day, I come to class in jeans and a hoodie with my hair everywhere. I like to think that I am a part of the 50% of people who blatantly don't care about their appearance, but a lot do. So if you're looking for a girl/guy, I'd suggest going the extra mile when getting ready, because there's a lot of competition.
